Good pod. I think the analysis of DJ is very good and I can see where he gets an extension (e.g., a good season and playoffs). Nick you mentioned that the Giants like, but don’t love DJ. All time Giants offense is pretty obviously Eli, either Tiki or Saquon, Odell, Plax, Cruz and the Toomer could be arguable for wr sure. Plax absolutely abused All Pro DB Al Harris, carrying the offense on his back all day long. 11/13 receptions for 151 yards ON ONE GOOD LEG in a game that was the coldest on record at the time. Plax was never the fastest but he was big, long and physical with excellent body control for his size. Al Harris was tall and one of the best press man guys in the league, if anyone had a shot 1 on 1 w Plax it was a guy like Harris. Plax ate him alive. Caught 150/250 of Eli's passing yards and w 120 yards on the ground was more than 50% of the offense himself. Toomer was a great possession WR, super smart, excellent feet and big enough to win v press but he was never close to the player Plax was in 05-07. He had a better career as a Giant for sure, a model teammate and would have never cost them a 2nd super bowl win the way Plax did in 08 but Plax across from Odell would have made it impossible for any defense to stop. Everyone knew that Plax was Elis favorite and still he managed to put up 10+ TDs with Shockey and Tiki in their absolute primes. I get the love for Toomer but he was never the same level of threat that Plax was when we signed em.
22 mil if he's cut b4 June 1st. If they cut him after June 1st. 11 mil in 2024, 11 mil in 2025. Just a matter of preference for Joe Shame or the next GM.
