I actually have a tip for drawing spiral staircases. Though I haven't done one in isometric pixelart before. The trick is to block out the stairs at right angles then add another half way between and then repeat. Divide and conquer sort of thing.
Thank you for another year of tiny squares! I really mean this when I say it - there is no other channel on this site that brings me as much joy to watch as yours.
another awesome video! Also just wanted to say that thanks to your videos/inspiration that I got from watching your videos, I actually made my girlfriend a pixel art print for christmas!
I really want to thank you for doing your tutorials on here! Your methods and workflow processes have genuinely helped me improve with how I approach deisgning characters! Can't wait to see what you have in store for 2024!
Hooooly crap that looks incredible!!! The timelapse itself made me already go: "Damn!" and then you animated it! "Goddamn!" Also I love the squash and stretch on Diglett.
I really love the sprite work you've done within the world of Pokemon Concierge! It's so cute!! I watch the show and enjoy it so much. I do hope to see more Pokemon places in the future As an artist, I sadly don't have tips for spiral staircases tho XD;;;;
I liked the segment where you talked through problem-solving Pansear's rendering within this limited colour palette; a logical implementation! 😁 I haven't seen Pokemon Concierge yet but this has certainly put it on my radar. Even still, it looks like the fun animation in this video captures the vibes of what I've seen so far - I'm looking forward to catching up on it! Happy New Years, friend! 🌟
Glad to hear, had to really buckle down when it comes to some nice monkey designs like that 😅 And thanks, it was a fun little series, think you'll enjoy! Happy New Year as well! ✌️🥳✨
I think an isometric spiral staircase is the kind of "pixel problem" I would have agonized over for half a day, lol. I think it turned out great! Also thank you for the reminder that Pokemon Concierge is out now!
i would love to watch an entire animation as pixelart i love so much pixel art and i miss but i am having fun on 3D as well... i imagine use an 3D to serve as sketch to pixel art...this would be nice
I do love your work and i did love this one too but I have to say, the pillars are not symmetrical and it's killing me XD Btw loved the water texture pattern, really clever
I have no idea how to draw an isometric spiral staircase, but I could imagine something like the following technique. If you slice a circle into pizza pieces, each line goes through the middle point, no matter if it's isometric or not. maybe those lines not going through one point in the middle rather follwing a circle would help a bit? for the next isometric pokemon artwork I wonder how you tackle battle scenes. Those really stand out in the games because the shift in perspective from top-down to over-the-shoulder. So for an isometric game you should maybe have the battle scenes be something extra aswell?
Hmm that's a really great way to think about it, I'll have to keep the pizza technique in mind , thanks! And yeah I think you're exactly right, the next thing probably has to be a battle. Would be neat to see the trainers standing there with the pokemon battling
If you're going to continue recreating scenes from Pokemon media in an isometric style, might I suggest doing one for a scene from the Detective Pikachu games?
Next time you do a spiral staircase try looking at an IRL picture to see how the steps warp as they go up. You made the width too even and its why it doesn't look totally natural. Like the railing is correct but the stairs are viewed almost top-down instead of from an angle. If you brought in the top of the stairs and moved the railing to the left a bit I think it would be more realistic. Of course this is very annoying to do in pixel art. (PS- I think everything else in your image is perfect. Great job!)
Hi, I just wanted to ask, How do I make a shape, I mean not the basic like rectangle or circle, for example right now I make a 37 x 37 owl sprite, I just find it hard drawing the wings. And for your videos how do you make a detail sprite with a tiny canvas size or maybe like a diagonal oval. I just find it very hard to draw those things.
I liked the new show, it's similarly whimsical, yet a bit more realistic and quite fun. But it confirms a few major things: for one, the textures of pokemon. The real-film with Ryan Reynolds kinda did that, but it was supposed to be real. This gave us the canon texture of accurately shaped pokemon, fuzzy, furry, feathery, skin, metal, rock, that's a huge insight. And the second thing is, that ot confirms the original show as a show within the world of pokemon. The pokemon are animals, they don't say their own names. Think about it: all pokemon are supposed to exist everywhere, but the original anime only introduces 150-200 new ones each part and the animals constantly say their own names, so kids can learn them. This would also explain why there are comicbook villains harrassing a random kid that travels the world with actual gym leaders for 30 years while staying eternally 10 years old. It's a show! Even within the world of pokemon
I love that no matter what medium or style, spiral staircases are a struggle.😂
even using one irl is a struggle

Thanks, that sounds like a smart way to approach it! Gonna have to try that next time ✌️😌✨
You literally just uploaded this but I wanted to say that you have inspired me to make my own pixel art in my own way and be proud of it.
Loved the expressive squash & Stretch Diglett animation! Great Video!
Thank you for another year of tiny squares! I really mean this when I say it - there is no other channel on this site that brings me as much joy to watch as yours.
I'd continue doing non-gen 1 locations in this style. i like the contrast between a retro art style and modern locations.
you might not realise, you're doing something incredibly advanced when building these complex 3d shapes in 2d in pixels. that deserves credit

The diglet animation is top tier!!! I could watch it on loop forever
Really appreciate the shy Pikachu and swim ring Magikarp you put in at the end there! Great work as always!
Hooooly crap that looks incredible!!!

Also I love the squash and stretch on Diglett.
I would love to see this full colored to see how you might color things or limit your palette or just see you go wild with it
I always love your videos. You're so calm and considered.

on that note, i would love to see a video with some pixel art creating tips for Photoshop
Incredible

This is seriously so good. I love it!
Happy New Year! 🎆
I love the stretch and squish of your Diglett animation.
Watching your pixel art evolve over the years has been a delight. Heres to 2024!
love to see someone else using Photoshop.
often feel like I'm alone for not using asperite

Fr
amazing and calming. There´s a relaxing quality to your videos that I enjoy a lot
You even went back and added Magikarp in his inner tube. Instant follow! Well done man!
I love this style so much!!!!! :D

Man I love this one. I need like an hour of all the Pokemon videos on CRT time.
That show was absolutely adorable and you capture the vibe very well 😊
What a cool piece, well done!
Happy New Year!
Ughhhhhh I'm dying of cuteness
Cool! Always love your artistic endeveors!
Brandon: uploads video
Me: audible “gasp” then clicks on video
If you can’t tell. I like your videos 😊
You amazing art is like the Perfect Screen Saver and the best Lofi Gif Loop.
Loved it you are an inspiration 😊
So cute!!
Nice work, the show really felt special I agree
this is so rad!
This could be the best video
Can you make a video on how you animate in Photoshop and how you record your Timelapses? It would be really helpful
I do love your work and i did love this one too but I have to say, the pillars are not symmetrical and it's killing me XD

Unreal!!

How did you animated all? After Effects?
awesome stuff!
god this is so cool
well done!!!
Marzia, cancel all of my meetings for the day. Brandon just uploaded.
Is there a video on how to create videos from isometric view?
Watching this in 2024 already. Happy new year!
i think the wooper should have been on the green area because it looks a bit lost on the chair
So here you're using a 2:1 grid of 32x16. Is that the most common size? Like a de facto standard?
You should make a hour long CRT time video of all your art with lofi music.
My method for spiral staircase;
Step 1: lie down
Step 2: try not to cry
Step 3: cry anyways
'Svery noice
If you're going to continue recreating scenes from Pokemon media in an isometric style, might I suggest doing one for a scene from the Detective Pikachu games?
The last entry in this series was 1 year ago
Is that a Tatsugiri in the water?

I didn't watch the video yet bc I want to ask this real quick so I didn't forget it.
This is approved by me
at the end i said Oh Yeah!
Nice piece, feeling like a world of its own.
Hi Brandon, I'm the person who emailed you a few days ago. Hope that you can reply to it ASAP. Thanks!

CRT TIme is the Best.
IM HERE FOR 420 LIKE COUNTT :D
Warg
Sprites are more limited than the background Sprite should only have black white and a single other color
not two other colors like the background
