My wife says I waste more time watching Oakwood Garden Room videos than I spend building the bloody Garden Room! I see absolutely no wasted time here. :-)
The description of the permitted Hight, is exactly what I needed to know... Its obvious that you know what you are talking about and that has come from years of practice and building these excellent buildings, Keep it up.
Always make time to watch these vids!!! Liam as always so generous with his information and technics.Jen-loving the trainers!!! Keep up the great work!!!! Never a dull moment and full of content..Brilliant
Just subscribed to your channel. I’ve started my own build, after being let down by so many tradespeople. Your videos are the best for explaining and demonstrating by far! Great team and great content! All the best 👍🏻
...it wasn't that long ago that finding worthwhile vids was hard. They were tinged with ambiguity or tainted by bad camera angles, full of the angst of litigation. That's blown away by stuff like yours. Very subtly introduced cutting edge technology. Thanks for having the balls to show how you hang balls, (so say the subtitles) great work !
Watching your videos from the south of France. Seriously considering building a room in the garden next year .... these videos are amazing and will be a massive help when I get started. Merci à tous!
I wouldn’t worry about going to much over your 2.5m permitted developments. Planning department use the word de-minimus which basically means would the increased height you went over cause that much harm to the neighbours. For example, if you went over the 2.5m height by around , let’s say 50 to 70mm would the planning dept ask you to take it down. Never known it to happen in almost 20yr of working. Excellent video and great to see you working with the next generation, especially to Jen. Good on her.
Would be interested to know what went so wrong with using the feather edge in your own experience. Tape and fill is very common in Scotland where I live. Great video 👍
Thanks for the video. I built mine to 2380mm up from the highest point of land adjacent to the shed, on a slope, so the far end was over 2.5. The council got me as one end was at ground level but the other end was on a "raised platform over 300mm in height" So watch out for that. Had to put in for planning which wasn't the end of the world.
Great job, appreciate your advice... Simply the best mate! Could you do a follow up on plastered reveals around windows and doors and what the plasterer does next? Cheers 👍
I built a garden room for a mate. It was 6m x 4.4. Deep. He wanted to keep within 2.5m height but we used 225 deep joists. He was happy to dig out around it and in effect lower the ground level to keep the size within 2.5m. He put a drainage gully and ran the water away from the building. I really don’t know if this is allowable or not. I never give it a thought about a fitch beam but would have thought that would have added to the cost considerably.
All your vids are all amazing love your work am a fabricator I make bifolds and everything else .dream bifolds I work for and they have lots on sale that was not the right size very cheap and brand new
Appreciate all the handy tips. You were going to mention about buying second hand doors from ebay but you didnt get chance. Would be interested to hear your comments.
What size insulation are you using on the walls? I’m converting my garage at the moment, but the stud wall is set 40mm away from the walls so it’s in line with the brick reinforcement piers, is it ok to leave a gap between stud wall and insulation or should I buy 100 thick and have it tight against the wall ? Love your videos by the way. Very helpful
I may be wrong, but why in the state's they plaster board then use filler for the joins and screw, seal then paint and here in the UK we plaster on top of the plaster board?
Hi Liam Great video!! Can I ask why the steel is 160mm? Would a smaller one, say 120mm not suffice, as that was what I was thinking of putting in. Would there be too much deflection?? I’m no expert obvs 🙄 Cheers for reply in advance 👍🏻
Want to start pricing total cost for my garden room but so confused about which timber specs I should be using? There are so many different types. Pressurised, regularised, planned all around etc.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️?????
Hey Liam it wasn't meant nastily but it did get your attention. I actually thought you would have laughed or called me a wanger. Giving you the v's at 70mph on the m1 yesterday, was just having a laugh but my apologies if you were genuinely offended. You do great work BTW 👍🏼
@@thegardenroomguru not much time for pleasantries in the moment so had to think outside the box 🤣🤣 I hope you're well mate, send my regards to the others 😀
On a past job you built a bar in it..did you put the floor down first only I'm not quite sure what to do first as the bar requires fixing down but the floor wouldn't be allowed to move and expand but it would be easier to install the floor first due to cuts etc.. I met you at pen-y-ghent last year and I've still not finished my build...😄
I remember you 👌 Build bar but don’t put skirting on it Floor area, then finish bar, floor needs to be able to move as you say. If no skirting, can you use a bead?

Everyday is a school day, and love the little tricks of the trade like masking the screw holes on the inside of the socket boxes 👌
Loving the "warts and all" format for your video, showing the mistakes is a great way for us to learn... thank you👍
Great videos, learning so much.
Haven't got the space or money just yet but still like to watch your videos, no nonsense and educational. Keep it up.
Another great job Liam
Always a great watch and full of detail

Do you know what a "p trim" is? I seem to have missed this when researching flat roof systems, Thanks

Each video inspires me more to have a go in my own garden. The trouble is inspiring my wife to let me have a go.

Hi another great video. can you explain about buying doors from eBay. I think that you forgot.
Thanks for all the info mate and Jen can sing as well lol.
Appreciate all the handy tips. You were going to mention about buying second hand doors from ebay but you didnt get chance. Would be interested to hear your comments.
You mentioned about ordering doors on ebay, but I think you forgot to go over it. Do have another video you can point me to that discusses this?
Brilliant tutorial again guys

Very good great work as always love these garden rooms think the price of timber is absolutely stupid now
You mention second hand doors off ebay (36.00). Having just bought some I am really curious about what you have to say? Thanks for all the advice.
Well another great vid..... So Jen.... Your fingernails are H&S standard so as Liam doesn't hit them... Fair play.... 👏😂

Excellent video. PH 2 Philips no. 2 as opposed to PZ 2 pozi no. 2 can use a PH 2 with PZ screws but not vice versa.
Great videos keep them up
Awesome advice
Love your videos
Great Vid and a lovely product!
What height did you go for on the wall sockets? Dont think this was given.
Do you guys cover Nottingham area near Mansfield?
Another great video.
After you have gone home I wonder what the customer went to have a look at the days work and what they must have thought of the cave drawings
As alaway great video, very infomative.
Great opportunity for young Davy to join a cracking company
John on the naughty step 😂
Another great video, thanks Liam and team, do you guys use any of the bosch professional 18v tools, thinking of investing in a kit ?
Good morning!
Darren has nailed it. I’ll be in touch for Dan estimate.

How much do you charge for a garden room I am very interested in a garden room can you please let me know
Your last on “on tour” job is just up the road from me, you have a long commute mate.

@@thegardenroomguru cheers for that...skirtings going on just a bit work required👍
Great video - at the end 36:00 you were going to explain about buying second hand doors off ebay but ran out of time and didn't?
Sorry mate, was going to say most doors that have coke out of houses and conservatory’s are around 2.1 so won’t fit in a permitted development build
Great info cheers
Very good but, very fast info to absorb. Thanks for a rewind/review of the video or would be lost.
