Both Giancarlo and Brian seem like really good dudes. Glad we have such high level guys teaching some of their secrets in a clear way. The jitsu scene is amazing right now.
Yes the jujitsu scene is really fantastic right now ❤
Professor Brian is one of the best instructors. Awesome to see him being highlighted.
Video editor or camera guy! Excellent job adjusting exposure so we can see his legs. Thank you!
I think that was an awesome post production move aka editing skills but only Giancarlo can confirm this ;-)
Great details, and THANK YOU for getting some footage of Brian rolling, you hear so much about Brains game but rarely see actual rolling footage of him.
where is the rolling footage?
Giancarlo got one of the best RUclips channels for jiujitsu.
Brian Glick is fast becoming my favorite guy in BJJ. I think he may hold the insights I've been after for years for how to not get smashed as a smaller, older, weaker player. I'll buy his under pressure video and all of his stuff in the coming months. Really looking forward to it. Also want to watch that rolling footage! Thank you!
When two bjj great teaching minds decide to offer some content, the only regret if there could be one is that the video might seem to be too short, it's not only about the technique, it' s about those awesome vibes that radiate from both
The instructional is very well put together. The last unit is a summary of all the techniques in a condensed format.
Brian glick is great!
Awesome, just in time for my lunch break.
Wow. A lot of that made a lot of sense.
I love that Rick Bookstaber is in that initial shot also 🙂.
I don't use clamps, but should. This is a great intro!!
Yes sir!
Looking forward to seeing the rolls y’all had.
Excellent content
That’s my prof!
really clear and thorough explanation! Thank you both 🤝
Outstanding. Thank you.
Shoulder clamps are also great for this and I've seen Gordon Ryan use them
Your channel is underrated
Amazing ! thank you! Great details!
Excellent
Great content!
Glick is too slick
Thank you for sharing this
Great stuff
Great info!
Great details and video
Ive seen him in rolling footage in Danaher's instructionals
Brilliant!
great details
Definitely gonna try this!
What makes this fundamentally different than rubber guard in terms the setup/control or is it essentially the same position with more nuance in terms of how we go for our attacks?
Rubber guard uses the arm to hold the leg down on your opponents back, this traps your hips and you lose the ability to hip out to the side or use your arm to control their arm for the triangle like he shows. It’s definitely similar but I think this is probably the better option
This is basically the 'Pyramid' position within rubber guard, except that is generally played with an overhook.
Reminds me of silver fox a lot
the dude who murdered that famous wrestler?
haha no silverfoxbjj@@RobCantGo
I was actually just thinking that a lot of these old-school Renzo blackbelts - Silver Fox, Shawn Williams, Brian Glick - all use slightly different variations of this kind of thing with Split Guard, Williams Guard and Clamp Guard
I'm a 51 year old white belt. I'm built now like a fire-plug. 5'8, 205lbs Escaping for me is difficult. I'm not flexible. I'm the antithesis of flexability. Although I'm strong, I can't sustain using such strength for long, nor should I. I'm trying to work on technique and flow. Will this technique work well for someone ɓuilt like me?
I'm going to try training this for the next several weeks. Any advice?
🙏🏼🐐🙏🏼🐐🙏🏼
Tremenda tecnica.
4:05, but what if they only have 3 finger? Thinkin about chopping one off to find out.
i like the Williams guard more than the clamp
I’m 6’7” and 300lbs. Brother please stop teaching ppl this stuff 🙏😭
This is the best way of thinking about how Khabib controlled his opponents when he was on bottom! Definitely has the distance management theme in mind when it comes to self defense/mma situations.
When did that happen?
I didn't watch all his fights. I'm curious to know in what fight Khabib is on the bottom.
His fight with Abel Trujilla had him use this to relentlessly attack triangles and armbar...before he just stood up and absolutely mauled Abel.

Not exactly the same, but similar principles.
Good details and all but why would i use the clamp guard it feels like a weaker rubber / williams guards, those guards seems way stronger for posture control
Angle.
@@macrubit you angle in rubber and williams guard as well , flat on your back theres no williams anyways and your runner guard is weak from flat on the back
@@kylelemon4230 Sorry, I did not know William’s guard and assumed it was like the rubber guard. I took a look and the preferred angle is very similar to that of clamp. Also the set up is similar, so I guess it is a good alternative. The tradeoff I see here is control for mobility, since you are using the left arm for wedging instead of using it for kimura etc.
"link to the channel" not there
👏👏👏
I find people most commonly shove the foot between their legs to prevent my bottom knee from coming through and clamping. (I'm a 125 lber). Thoughts?
Old stuff, new name.
Rebranding - the greatest invention in Bjj
Looks like you have a clear shot at the gogo plata at 8:47. Do people still use the gogo plata?
The what? haha jk, I haven't seen it in what feels like years
0:36 what is the blurred text on their rashguards? Looks like "I'll rip your head off." Sounds like something John would say😂
Kind of like rubber guard without the underhook on shin
How is this different from rubberguard? Asking genuinely not sure if there is a difference or just a different name
In the clamp you are on the side of your hip which relies a lot less on flexibility than rubber guard which is similar leg configurations but you are flat on your back
Definitely very similar to rubberguard.
Is this clamp guard the same as rubber guard. Its just names, I know, just curious
POV: you’re the bigger opponent watching this video to learn tricks the little guys use on you to smash them further 😈
What’s this guard called?
The position at 2:30? At a seminar, Rickson Gracie referred to that as the Vale Tudo guard
Scissor guard
@@EccentricBjj I'm not asking a question. I'm telling you what Rickson Gracie said.
@@831digitalu legit placed a question mark 😂
@@dinopalavra876 I should have phrased it, "Do you see the position at 2:30? At a seminar, Rickson Gracie referred to that as the Vale Tudo guard."
how is this different from rubber guard?
The basic position of rubber guard implies what Eddie would call a mission control hand ( Hand 1 under your own shin ) and a new york / new jersey hand ( hand 2 over your own knee ) distinction is made between a 3/4 rubber guard on your shoulder and full rubber guard on your back ( needing more flexibility )
Very rubber-guardy
be larger
Play rubber guard, you cowards
That ain't gonna work.
Jk I'm gonna start doing that.
yeah nice but difficult with stumpy legs and the flexibility of a tortoise.. makes me sad because I like it
Did you upload the roll between you guys somewhere?
