It is so sweet how close they all were. It must have been truly heartbreaking for Soma and Joichiro when Tamako died. Soma saved Joichiro from becoming depressed by keeping him cooking. That family truly had a strong bond.

Tbh I liked the way S4 ended and since I’ve heard vastly mixed thoughts I think I’ll let it age for a while but it kind of seems like it’d be dragging it on too long for me...think you can tell me the plot, like the main problem that occurs and maybe with a spoiler warning for the wandering unsuspecting?
I’ll admit season 4’s ending was good, especially as series finale, but I’m kind of disappointed with how quickly the series went from being almost sportsy with the student chefs competing to see who’s cooking style gets funding for industry development to being a “save the world” or at least Japan’s service industry story.
Soma's mother was too precious. The whole family, and Soma and Joichiro's reasoning for cooking disgusting squid dishes like the mother is so wholesome. It all makes sense now.
It took three minutes to show how important Tamako was in her family's life, and how much of a gaping hole she left with her death, and how Soma and his dad struggled to cope and keep moving forward. I was tearing up by the end.
This scene was really sad, soma's mom was really funny and beautiful in the flashback and it's sad when she passed away. I also know that soma got his personality from his mom too and it was great when soma saved his dad from depression and himself too to keep cooking. I just wonder what did his mom die from? His mom is probably proud of him and joichiro from heaven too.☹️
I think that gives her a charm, since she doesn't let that deter her in the least, and she clearly passed it down to Soma. It's easy to see why Joichiro fell for her.
This is why Soma is so committed to his cooking. Not just cause he loves it or it’s his passion, it’s to keep the memory of his mom alive. You can see that her passion was passed onto Soma and that’s what drives him to continuously get better.
The Scars Origin. Soma's Mom appearance. Joichiro still rocking even with that 5 o'clock beard. Soma's personality coming from both Parents made him with friends and enemies who he is to this 5th plate. Glad to enjoy these servings.
Joichiro wandered into Yukihira because he didn't want to be recognized and ordered a Chef's Special. The regulars didn't have the heart to warn him. But Joichiro kept coming back for the Special. One of the best love stories ever.
Im so sad the series ended, It is and will stay my favourite Anime because it helped me go through depressions and have one of the best summers in my whole life. Thank you, Food Wars...

This honestly also makes Senchiro wanting to send Soma off to Tootsuki rather sweet as well in hindsight. He clearly saw not only that Soma had natural talent, but also his mom's fierce and unbreakable spirit as well. I like to think on some level Senchiro wanted to show off Soma to the world and make people understand just how awesome his and his wife's kid was
I'm just glad she lived long enough to leave a lasting impression on Soma. Not many children who lose their mothers at a young age are fortunate enough to even remember their faces, let alone what their personalities was like.
The relationship between Soma and his mother can't be any better, it's truly glorious. But to see how destroyed his dad was when she died, only to have him bring him back out of that depression by turning to what brought them together as a family is truly tear jerking.
