  • It's thought there are around half a million cleaners working in city blocks and offices around the country. No one knows their exact number because for the most part they're invisible, going to work while the rest of us sleep. But we do know that many are poorly paid and sometimes poorly treated. Our social affairs editor, Jackie Long, has been speaking to one of the army of cleaners who work in the capital - one of the richest cities in the world. He has an extraordinary story to tell.

Teddy does not want to earn English! Teddy does not even speak broken English after all this time... so why state that all he really wanted in the world was to come to England to learn to speak a new language.

    Buona fortuna a tutti ...

I am a Latin-American myself and all I can say is "this is nonsense", no company forces you to work, it is ultimately your choice. its call "personal and professional envelopment", you work hard to develop yourself and get good jobs that pay good money. You came to the most expensive place to study English, what did you expect. It is clear your intentions were not to come to the UK to study but to get a good pay out. This is England not Bolivia, the least you could do is speak English.

Ondine107 learning in english in bolivia is very available in the capital sucre .ive been to bolivia and it is basically a narco state that is full of corruption .if your career was a cleaner in bolivia you would make about $100 a month and have no workers rights and live in a slum.so my point is most likely this guy came to london looking for a better life ,well you are not going to get a better life in any country if you are a cleaner .if he wants a better life then like the rest of us he needs to work hard to improve his skills in something that will make him have a better life
