    Heads up DC cyclists: the cache is long gone! Two of us were there about 30 minutes after the video got posted, and confirmed the spot in the video is empty. Not too surprised: Kenilworth is a popular spot!

    It's crazy watching a video where I recognize all the places you ride.
    DC is a crazy place to bike. It's both amazing and terrifying. That being said, the commute from my house in Silver Spring to my office near Arlington is the same travel time by bike, car, or train. It makes it a no-branier choice.

    That bike shop you went to saved our asses at the start of a tour last fall! We had just gotten off the train for a week-long bike ride up the C&O path when we discovered our rear axle had broken.
    The C&O is really a gem of DC - you can ride it all the way to Pittsburgh, and there's free camping the whole way!

I love that you captured the random abandoned rent-a-bikes/scooters. That's a DC sight for sure. And Kenilworth Park! You hit all the sites. And you're right it's much easier to ride in DC than drive. So glad you came up for a visit! Super thumbs up!

    DC is a great city and incredibly bike friendly which is why I love living here. Not sure what's so "confused" about it. There's a lot of rich culture and history (not just "American" history but local history) that gets overlooked because most people just focus on the fact that it's the nation's capital. I love the content for the most part, but going on so much about being "non-partisan" felt more derisive than just sticking to your opening statement of showing how DC is just like any other city, and that is very clear by all the politic-ing happening in the comments section. Politics is such a buzz word, when the political is truly personal. The focus shouldn't be on "politics" which desensitizes people to the personal impact of policy-making, but on community building, which is at the very core of DC culture and has contributed a lot to the great biking infrastructure here.
    Next time you're here, I recommend going to a random carry out joint for mambo sauce and wings, or hitting up el rinconcito cafe for Salvadoran food (although the fried fish at the pupuseria you happened across looked fire). Some go-go music in the background would also be fire :) As many others have mentioned, C&O Canal is also great.

    Regarding your political diatribe - inaction is a choice too. You can watch things go bad be proud you didn't try to stop it. People are actively being targeted with false narratives and cast as 'evil', 'broken' or 'freaks' simply for being born different.

    Spent a weekend biking around D.C. last summer and I LOVED it. City is easy to figure out quickly, and it easy and quick to move around by bike. Safe. The bike trails in the area are awesome, and all the sites to see! Rode from D.C. to Mount Vernon 25 miles away, all on a dedicated bike trail. Took my bike on Amtrak train from New England. Didn't get into a car the entire weekend, from my front door. Can't wait to go back.

    waiting for unbikable to hit cincinnati! it’s canonically one of the worst laid out cities in america, has extreme hills cutting off half the city, nd the other half is cut off by a highway, little to no bike lanes, nd in general probably the worst city to bike in. but it has skyline so that makes it perfect

    • @JPBVideo
      @JPBVideo 7 часов назад +3

      Ah Cincinnati. I'll never forget biking there. I caught the rear tire of my city rental bike on one of those godforsaken streetcar tracks, which happens to fit those bike tires just perfectly. It's almost like the city of Cincinnati designed it that way. I went down on my left side which hurt for about a month. Good times.

    DC is one of the most bikable cities in the US, and has one of the highest transit use per capita as well. The old city fabric helps in this regard in that most of it was setup before cars and it avoided freeways chopping it up (mostly).

    Hell, yeah, Seth! My girlfriend and I just did Washington DC. This summer, on our electric scooters. We thought it was surprisingly dirty on the highways and roads… arbitrary areas were wheeled. Transportation was not allowed… overall, the free
    Museums and historical sites made it worth it. Dealing with the police was not horrible. However, they towed every single car on an entire road. Without any notification whatsoever.Luckily the police warned us and our car did not get moved to another part of a city.I do not know... can't wait to go back and continue to check out all the trucks and stuff we missed.

    Hi Seth,
    i road DC a few years ago. I had just ridden from Harper’s ferry where the civil war started. It’s a 60 mile ride that i was expecting to ride in 6 hours. It took me 13 hours to ride that. I really not happy about that ride. When I got to dc in missed my train back to Harper’s ferry. Had to spend the night. Caught the rain the next day back to Harper’s ferry. The next morning i drove back to dc to get my bike that I had to leave in dc for the night. There is a bike garage with in feet of the train station. I was able to ride in front of the White House. That entire area is now tiled with 16” or larger tiles. You use to be able to drive in front of the White House, no more. 9/11 changed everything there. The morning i went to get my bike traffic into dc took more than two hours to drive. It started out ok but the closer I got the worse the traffic got. I now live in phoenix and I was there taking care of my dream girl. It was kind fun to ride in DC cause I’ve never done that before. Iv driven down there many many times in my life. I still get lost everytime I go down there. It’s a really fun city though. I guess I’m kinda non political too I hate all of them down there. Well im in maryland now just waiting to drive home.
