Am I the only one seeing this video for the first time 11 years later?! This is hysterical. It just so happens that many of her comments were actually true as revealed in various interviews she has given over the years.
It is so very interesting and entertaining that Mark, Carrie, and Harrison each gave speeches here much like their characters would. Mark was very heartfelt and sincere - much like Luke, Carrie was outspoken and sarcastic - much like Leia, and Harrison was kind of world-weary - much like Han at times.
Carrie Fisher was an incredible actress and writer and her words at this AFI for George Lucas showed the kind of talent someone that can outdo anyone trying to be an MC at any event.
That self-confidence is what gave her the role in SW, and she still has it. Indeed, she's still a princess. For all the people who says she's old, I hope you get to her age and have her attitude and vibe, or at least to reach that age, since we never know.
There is so much love in this supposed tirade and roast. Brilliantly executed to show how her exasperation with being a product is still worth it because she got to meet and work with a great artist. Well said!
The finish was priceless. Carrie was the true face of Hollywood, completely unembarrassed putting all its fakeness and ugliness out there to see. She will never be forgotten. Our princess, now living among the stars. RIP Carrie Fisher.

It was part of her stand up routine. She didn't write this just for this occasion.
@@robparkinson9850 she did stand up?
@Han Lockhart Addiction is a mental illness, you don't just get up one day and stop, and that doesn't make you stupid.
@Han Lockhart not really, you'd call Carrie Fisher smart; because she's smart. And an addiction is incredibly difficult to stop. Her addiction of which was drug abuse is literally a mental illness.
This AFI tribute will never be topped. Well done, Princess....
+indyracingnut Check Steve Martin AFI speeches. He has the deadpan delivery of a God or the godly Leslie Nielsen.
This is a true masterpiece. RIP princess Carrie Fischer.
Farewell to a hysterical, caring, wise woman. A Princess on screen, a queen in my heart. :(
This one speech > an entire Amy Schumer "comedy" special
Sairaj R. Kamath screw that, this is better than her entire career
John Smith A knock knock joke is better than her career
Loz Just Coz a single knock on the door is entirely better
John Smith a door is better than her career
Why are you comparing this to Amy Schumer? What does amy Schumer have to do with any of this??
Rest in peace, Carrie. The world has lost an underappreciated treasure.
BCPR 💯👍🏼
BCPR she was literally my idol she was such a witty woman when some only saw her for her beauty and as our beloved princess, but she really was something extraordinary there will never be another princess
Only to the blind. For those who see eternally appreciated she will forever be.
Nothing short of pure brilliance. Carrie Fisher was one of the truly gifted female comedians with too few actually knowing it because she wasn't given the opportunities her talents so deserved later in her life. She was never afraid to ensure she was the butt of her own jokes and boy, did she ever have the material for it.
RIP Carrie. You were and always will be Royalty. 😭
Have you even SEEN Star Wars?! -_-
Carrie Fisher was NOT Jewish - her Dad was. Debbie Reynolds was NOT Jewish. You are only Jewish if your MOM is, or both parents. Don't speak about things you don't have knowledge of, Grey. thx......
! Wish I had been able to see her one woman show live she is so funny and I am sure her many fans are definitely heartbroken that we have lost a wonderful talent .
Its nice to see some love (even tongue in cheek) thrown over to George as opposed to all this hate he gets now a days.
People hate him for stupid reasons. I mean without him, sw wouldn't exist
+patrik streng and without Star Wars millions of lives and wallets would be without purpose.
Lol
+patrik streng And Star Wars wouldn't be popular without the people that helped make it such a classic.
he's always been the overseer of creative decision making though. Disney doesn't even have him anymore. It sucks. They have no direction anymore. Dave Filoni is the only one who even somewhat can emulate what George used to do
RIP Carrie, may the Force be with you... always.
I think I’ve watched this a 100 times! It makes me both sad and incredibly happy at the same time. To me Carrie was a treasure! I miss any future books we might’ve gotten and whatever else the future would’ve held for her.
Carrie Fisher still has it.
+IceKarma YOU!
+IceKarma Now with botox ...
whynottalklikeapirat of course, it's Hollywood after all.
Not anymore.
+Sloth from The Goonies Obviously. Hard to still have it if you're pushing up daisies.
Gone too soon.
RIP
way too soon
@@randomdude189 Druggie or not, Carrie was part of what made the Star Wars franchise so popular you can't take that away from her.
You can say anything about his work, but It makes me so happy to see George having a laugh. He seems like a great guy.
^ True
+Sebastian Acha He bathes in Money - never ever feel sorry for him first and foremost. Next - he knows he was great - everyone knows he did a great thing - I hope to see MORE NEW movies from him - do you?
Sebastian Acha He actually donated millions to charity and is a nice guy. He became a little bitter after the prequels because people literally hated him. I respect him and am willing to say he has changed cinema.
Dougitar That is why prequel haters get no respect. They’re the reason why George sold his franchise. Now, people are hating on the sequels and want George back. But you know what, haters?! Too late. YOU guys alienated yourselves from Lucas and are paying for it now.
Those are pretty much how they are in real life.
@@nickbuccini7535 Which is possibly why their roles work.
@@mauriciojorgeyattah8871 4 years later on that comment man
It’s called type casting and George admitted he cast to type.
She had a hilarious sense of humor! RIP Carrie Fisher
Absolutely one of the funniest speeches ever! RIP Carrie. We'll all miss you.
Hands down, the greatest roast you'll ever hear - every line is a winner...
R.I.P Carrie Fisher
“We kept it from him because we wanted to see his face change expression” 😂😂
Rest In Peace Carrie fisher. The force may be with you, always.
Carrie Fisher was an incredible actress and writer and her words at this AFI for George Lucas showed the kind of talent someone that can outdo anyone trying to be an MC at any event.
People not realising how much of what she's saying is dark truth.
Especially when she mentioned abused children, that was just so creepy! !! $
oh, we know believe me we know
A lot of people didn't. Clever woman.
Krystal Myth This was 2005 and it was cool to tell dark jokes. Now it’s all a mess and you get ‘cancelled'.
@@al112v4 Only if you expect to be paid for it.
my prayers are with Carrie Fisher this evening
That self-confidence is what gave her the role in SW, and she still has it. Indeed, she's still a princess. For all the people who says she's old, I hope you get to her age and have her attitude and vibe, or at least to reach that age, since we never know.
There is so much love in this supposed tirade and roast. Brilliantly executed to show how her exasperation with being a product is still worth it because she got to meet and work with a great artist. Well said!
Who got cooked more, Anakin or George Lucas?
Anakin. He had to marinate in that suit for 20 years.
@@redshirtveteran5688 lmao

So true
Ughhhh have you heard of what happened on Mustafar?
😂
@@maizygiles9951 lol 🤣😂
I’d say Fisher, she got high as fuck before this
Can't believe she is gone. What an amazing human being
Carrie is a force of nature....beauty, brains and verve. We all miss her.......she and her mother are true gems.
She was one of a kind. A truly brilliant human being.
The world is severely lessened for having lost her.
2:47 Bail Organa in attendance... #RIPCarrieFisher
Alonzo | Hooperflash Yep Princess Leia adopted father.
He raised her well 😂😂😂😂😂
That's four minutes of pure gold. Now I have to go and read everything she's ever written.
They laughed but they knew you were serious, Carrie. What an incredible woman. Now you know how much we admire you.
I love the fear on the face of Spielberg for the whole time of the speech as if he was ready to dunk under the table at any moment, priceless...
Smart move... As he was quite close to George 😁😂
Did he sleep with Carrie
2016 is now the actual worst year ever. Too many amazing people in such little time. May the force be with you, Carrie Fisher. R.I.P. 💜
Carrie...Youve just won my heart,since i was 4 i loved u as a princess,now uve crowned yoursel to a Queen
This was one of the funniest things I've seen. Carrie Fisher Rest in peace and may the force be with you
The finish was priceless. Carrie was the true face of Hollywood, completely unembarrassed putting all its fakeness and ugliness out there to see. She will never be forgotten. Our princess, now living among the stars. RIP Carrie Fisher.
