Graham Norton is one of the only television hosts that doesn’t interrupt their guests just to make a quipy joke. He’s actually respectful and let’s them make the laughs
Conan does the same thing. He'll allow his guests to get the joke even at his own expense (by pretending to be outraged to make the joke funnier).
I think Jonathan Ross should be locked in a room, and forced to watch Graham Norton.
Conan and Graham Norton DO listen and do you know why? Because they are fans just like us and actually want to hear what their guests have to say and are not full of their own BS. They also take the time to actually research their guests and ask great questions and point out significant relatable facts.
I love Graham and he’s a fantastic interviewer but he has certainly interrupted people to make quips - and usually making a great moment even better! But he is definitely very respectful.

The big secret is Rian Johnson butchered the character Luke Skywalker and changed Leia into superwoman in The Last Jedi.
He's very gracious about OT stuff. Harrison turned into the grumpy grandpa and Hammil is like the fun uncle you always wanna talk to at get togethers.
I would submit it has much to do with their respective careers. Ford followed up Star Wars as a bankable Hollywood A-list star for 30+ years. In his view: Star Wars is very likely seen as just another few films he did. But it carries the baggage of the nerdiest, geekiest, most technical, most demanding fanbase in existence.
Hammil's career went a different path. I imagine he had the same loathing for Star Wars (in the 90's, especially). But, as big budget Hollywood goes, these are among the only films Hammil has done.
If the conversation is all about Star Wars, I'd much rather talk with Hammil.
If it's just a day of fishing, BBQ, and relaxing; I suspect either guy would be a blast to hang out with.

heard it when he was on stephen colbert's the late show as well, almost exact same way. I think it's because of his voice acting background where he reads and say a line over and over during recordings.
Yeah, he explained the Harrison Ford thing almost exactly the same on Kimmel's show. It's a great story, though. He's a really good actor. It's just kind of funny how similarly he explains it.
If you tell a story or anecdote enough times you develop a rhythm and points that you hit every time you tell it. It's like telling a joke.

Hamill's "Telephone, telegraph, tell-a-Carrie" is almost verbatim from a 1956-1960 TV pre-Love Boat cruise ship series (The Gale Storm Show) where the Cruise Director Susanna Pomeroy said, "The three fastest means of communication: telephone, telegraph, and tell-a-woman." Hamill is absolutely hilarious in this interview, and his Harrison Ford impressions are spot on.

He’s a good voice actor
That moment in cinema history, which was the most shocking thing most of my generation had ever seen in film (and still hasn't been topped IMHO), was something no one will ever forget. It was made all the more powerful by the incredible performance Mark Hamill gave in that moment. He had the courage and intensity to GO THERE, into the soul rending anguish of Luke, which I don't think the character really recovered from. Spectacular. And keep it a dead secret for a year and a half???? OMG
He is such an amazing person. I love how he tells stories, how he spoke about Carrie, his reaction to Vader being Luke’s father, etc. Love it. One of my favorites. Thanks for uploading.

His voice was subbed in, so it's very possible the original actor in the suit read the line they thought it was and in the screening it would've still have been a shock to the rest of the cast.
They gave the line to James Earl Jones in post production. So he found out may be an year later or so.

I was waiting for his appearance on the Graham Norton show to come out because he has a knack for getting people to open up about stuff, but Mark Hamill is just too experienced. With a franchise like Star Wars, they will crucify you for letting out a spoiler on a talk show. Mark is the man at sticking to one story and it's pretty admirable.

Mike Rotch I heard Mark say that his Dad line was added in post production. After hearing him do impressions, maybe Hamill did Vader, too.
Given the weight of the twist, he probably recorded that line during one of the last few v.o. sessions, maybe a few months to several weeks before the premiere.
I remember seeing a interview where James Earl Jones tells that he only found out right before recording it and that he didn't believe it at first.
