- I give an update by the pool on my first few days living in Thailand and take a little walk around the quiet side of Pratumnak. Retirement life is good.

Buy Me a Coffee is just a little way that my viewers can by me a coffee or some yummy street food $5 at a time. Thank you all for your support!
You’re doing a wonderful job showing your neighborhood. Darn good at vlogging too!
Many thanks to you! Thank you for the support, I’m having a lot of fun learning how to edit and film.
Thanks for nice show ! Enjoy ...
Many thanks 🙏🏼
Thanks for taking us along on your journey. Your videos are easy to watch and inspiring.
Thank you for coming along and watching! I’m happy you are enjoying the content. 🙏🏼
Won’t take long before you know your way around that city back and forth, but you need to get out everyday, start walking a lot. I walked from north pattaya to the viewpoint In around 30 minutes . Worth it!
I fully agree! Just got back from 2.5 miles before 8am.
Beautiful area! Love the rooftop pool. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. The pool is a knockout for sure.
Your written commentary cracks me up. Loved the video... keep um coming❤️
I’m loving making it! Seeing all the errors in my videos makes me wonder how badly I mess up when I’m just normally talking with people and never catch it lol.
Really enjoying the blogging! Love your little running written commentaries, correcting what you're say and all. I don't think i saw people in the water at the beach. Can't be the water is too cold, can it? How are you doing with the language difference? Do a lot of locals, restaurant and shop people for instance, speak enough English to get along? Any progress on figuring out how to get the student visa and sign up for language class? Probably online class? Can't wait for the next installment. I feel like i'm there with you.
The water isn’t too cold and there were people in the water the first night I went down there. I’m not sure how clean the water is. I’ve heard that it can be pretty bad because of sewage release off the coast but that may be more in Jomtien and Pattaya.
The language barrier hasn’t been an issue. The shop keepers all know enough English to get by. I’ve always been horrible with comprehending English when spoken with a heavy accent and that’s been the bigger challenge but everyone is kind, understanding a patient.
No big developments with the visa… I may just go for the retirement visa. I’ll have to remember to talk about that in an upcoming video.
How is the language difference going? Great question.
The written commentary! Hahaha! Great job!
Haha, I think that may become my signature thing!
Been to Thailand many times and planning to relocate to Jomtien as well. May I recommend, taking a nice Thai lady to dinner at the Three Mermaids restaurant in Pratumnak, great food and ambiance. Would love to hear your story.
I love the suggestion thanks! I haven’t dipped my toes in the pools of dating here yet but I’m sure it’s going to happen sooner than later.

Enjoy ❤❤❤
Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Nice beach 🏝️
I much prefer it over the very long beaches to the north and south.
nice vlogging, thank u for sharing, ur naive approach to the unknown kinda sells the ticket :) keep it up buddy 💫
That’s the feedback I’ve gotten and I’m rolling with it! Lol
Thanks for watching!!
Fyi. The 10 baht bus is a good call unless that is gone.
They’re still all around. I live a bit off the bhat bus route and it’s a bit of a gamble getting on one around here to get into town because half of them go east once we get up to 2nd road. I can just get off and hop on another at that point but they’ve been great for getting around once I’m in town.
The island across from The Chocolate Factory is Koh Lorn. :) You can catch a ride to the island from Bali Hai Pier.
Thank you for the correction. I will have to make the trip out there soon!
Please check out the Chocolate Factory!
Just for you! I know they won’t allow full vlogging in there because I saw a RUclipsr mention it.
Pete... fantastic work mate! You are doing a great job champion! Your doing EXACTLY what I intend to do within the next year or so. I know you said something about not having any female company yet.... if you do get a little lonely... may I suggest the 'Cosy Beach Club'... a wonderful establishment with food, drinks & ladies that will love to chat(!!) with you. It's very close to where your staying! Your bits of commentary with the video are hilarious mate. You have a fantastic, easy going style that is easy to follow... no offence, but that's quite rare to say from an Aussie about a 'Sepo' (American). Please keep up the great style & work mate! 👍
You can do it too! Thank you for the recommendation. I am familiar with the club and hung out one night at a bar (The Hill) owned by the same German fellow and his wife. It sounds like a cool place and I've passed it on my walks down near Cosy Beach.
And many thanks for the kind words and feedback on my style and channel. I've met plenty of people who have had a hard time with my somewhat slurred and stuttering California accent so it's nice to hear from someone who could decipher it.
Peter! How ya getting by with communicating?!?!? Do a lot of people speak English? 😜 I love your videos. You’re funny! Gotta show some wildlife and nature too 🌺
Communication hasn’t been a problem at all but I’m mostly interacting with shop keepers and drivers. There will be nature and wildlife videos coming eventually but for now I’m mostly focusing on fostering some good daily habits for my new life here. I did see a cool white and black chipmunk like critter on my first walk this morning. I tried to get some video but I don’t think I got any good detailed footage of the little guy.
Whats up Pete? Got into town last week, staying at Arcadia now and was contemplating getting a one year lease here with a nice gym and swimming pool(s), but the rooms are very small. If they were bigger Id stay for sure for all the extras, but settling on a nice place right on the ocean in Jomtien. No gym but a nice pool, larger place with huge deck looking out over the water. Have you found any good places? I think I may be paying a high price for the beach apartment but still way lower than the US. Let me know if you're up for a beer sometime. Hard to understand how people claim there is nothing to do here. For an older guy there is pretty much everything you need here from what I see with of course some things that arent the greatest to deal with but all in all it is as convenient as anywhere in Eastern Europe.
Welcome to town!! Finding a perfect place can be a challenge and I’m only familiar with a handful of places personally. 2 best things to do:
Post in some Pattaya FB pages (Pattaya Expat Club, Pattaya Oracle, etc) and ask around. Also search for Pattaya condo and real estate groups on FB.
Next, speak to some agents. Go to several of them as they will have different listings.
Most expats here advise just going into buildings and asking to see what’s available but I feel that works better when you already know the building. If you have the time though, might be worth it for you.
The older buildings have bigger places. The View Talay buildings by Dongtan Beach (2 and 3 I believe) are bigger. My friend has a double unit there that is beautiful and huge but he is paying up for it (around 26-28k baht I believe). Prices have gone up but even with that he’s paying a lot. (It is really nice though)
Sure, I’d be happy to get together for a beer. We can exchange contacts through peteonretreat@hotmail.com
@@peteonretreat2023 Yes I was considering View Talay 2 and 3, but I think Ive decided on VT 7 even closer to the beach. I will email you in a few days, I just got a cyst out of my back I have been meaning to get done for years, Walked in a clinic and they did it in under an hour for 60 bucks. I paid 10 times that in the states and it came back. Im not a huge drinker so dont worry when I say a beer I mean it. Anyone who drinks more than 3 in this weather definitely loses all their electrolytes. Im here to get in shape not walk around with a big gut like many I see.
I think its a mixture of jet lag and lack of electrolytes. What do you think?
Hydration is always the first thing to address when feeling off.
Hi bro did you get your education visa ?
Not yet. I’ve got an agent to talk with next week about it. I have a connection that can help get one that may not be the most legit… I might just get my retirement visa next year.
