    Great background story and overview on visiting BPH for surgery. I have been to BPH several times, but go to PIH for dermatology. Not much difference in price really, for me it is just because I met their Dermatologist many years ago and it is easier to get to for me as I do not own personal transport. Yes, having a Thai native speaker can help, but not so much at the private hospitals, yet the ladies like them for the coffee shops, restaurant choices, and "luxury" I think! 555 Rural and other public hospitals can be fine, but you need a Thai speaker and the waiting time can be hours for consultation and even longer to schedule treatment/surgery.

      The hospital did have a sort of “fancy mall” feel to it in the lobby. I have some friends in Bangkok that eat at the hospital cafeteria near them all the time… They love it!

    Hi Pete! What you have on your leg is called a LIPOMA. It's basically a benign fatty tumor. It's not dangerous, just an inconvenience. I wouldn't even call it surgery, it's more like a minor procedure. The lipoma sits just under the skin, so a small incision is made where the lipoma is exposed and pulled out intact, in most cases.

    • @peteonretreat2023
      @peteonretreat2023  2 месяца назад +3

      Yup, that is all correct. It did come out intact except for the outside skin/barrier… looked kinda like ground chicken 🤢
      Borderline surgery but I gotta hype it up for views right? Man, I made a really dark and worrying thumbnail for this video but it really didn’t fit the theme so I went with something lighter.

    • @samorprong

      Correct it was a Lipoma. I have 2 and the small one one my forehead was removed as it did not look beautiful and everytime people asked me where this lump came from. It doesn't hurt but was basically removed for esthetic purposes.

    Not been able to get medical insurance having cancer (two types) I have used the local government hospital which for basic treatment is fine and the staff great, a private room consisting of a bed that’s basically a plank with a layer of foam and a basic bathroom but cheap.
    If things get complex then expect to get passed on to a city government hospital
    I also have used the Bangkok hospital who were fantastic, walk in see a consultant get a scan all in 40 minutes. Different level of service and ability to deal with complex needs but you do pay the extra for the difference between first class and economy
    Cannot praise enough he quality of care at the Bangkok hospital chain.

    Thx Pete now you got me touching myself lookin for lumpys lol. Actually i have had a couple of them over the years. The first one on my leg i had for many many years. Had them checked out by a few Doctors and they all said it was no big deal and eventually it went away. Then there was one off the side off my upper rib cage and that eventually disappeared after many years too. I was worried they would keep growing or become cancerous if they were not cancerous already. Good to have those things checked out though just to make sure. Hope u have a fantastic weekend Pete !!!
