[Chorus 1]
'Cause it's the first long kiss on a second date
Mama's all worried when you get home late
And dropping the ring in the spaghetti plate
'Cause your hands are shaking so much
And it's the way that she looks with the rice in her hair
Eating burnt suppers the whole first year
And asking for seconds to keep her from tearing up
Yeah, man, that's the good stuff

My wife died 3 years ago. This song reminds of the greatest times of my life, and they all happen to be with her. I love you Kelly. Forever in my mind and my heart
I'm so sorry Im 29 been with my wife since I was 15. I don't take anything for granite. I could never imagine the pain of going through this. And I'm not looking forward to it... Rip kelly
I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers and heart are with you. ❤
😢😭 sorry man

Hope you're doing well Robbie. Sorry for you loss.
“Cause the one thing stronger than the whiskey was the sight of her holding my baby girl” love this line to death
100 percent
This whole damn song makes my eyes water
When I haven’t heard this song in a while and hear that part, I get the chills!
Love your family folks because at the end of our lives you better believe they ARE ALL THAT MATTERS God Bless You and we here at J And Jess Productions hope and pray your feeling this unconditional love that God spoke in this humble groups ears and somehow we deliver it to our beloved American Patriots World Wide We love you long time

Here In April
Hits feel every time
I work in a retail bicycle store. Today, I had an elderly man come in to the store. After visiting about bikes, he showed me a picture of his wife, when she was young. Believe it or not, she had bouffant hair. He then showed me a pic of her at 72, one of the last pics before she died of ALS. This song was playing in my head the whole time he told me about his love for her.
I won't be able to ever hear it again without tearing up.
Lost a brother because of ALS prayers for the elderly man
This needs a LOVE button!! Sweet story! :)
Sweet story.
Really you got blessed! Of an older man confiding in you in a way ..that is Problly rare that he hopes up to you.. Your blessed..☝
i love hearing stories ppl have.. life can be sooo wonderful
When the bartender tells the narrator of the song "You can't find that here," I tear up every time. Such a simple lyric but it says so much. True love can't be expressed in words or replaced by ephemeral things... tells such an effective story in a deceptively simple, genuine style.
It’s so true, too.
I couldn’t appreciate it until my daughter was born. I used my love my jäger...until I saw that woman holding that little lady. I don’t need the liquor anymore.
The best things in life are indeed the things you can't put into words.
Your dumb bud
Amen
I agree it’s about as perfect as a single line can get.
Always give me chills when he says "the one thing stronger than the whiskey."

Very sorry to hear. Hope you're doing well
Gotcher back . My Marie graduated from here back in 2012 still have dreams of her
This song makes me cry every time. There are special moments in every marriage. I'll never forget before I proposed she checked my pulse at the dinner table because I looked so nervous; or when I first saw her in her wedding dress; or when our first baby was born; and the first months of living together. I guess struggles always come, but they're nothing compared to what matters.
AMEN, well written.
Richard Burchett Awe so freaking cute ❤️
Saw Kenny at the Usana

Not alot of people know that until it's too late, glad you know what you got man.
I just love Kenny Chesney man. his voice and his songs just makes me want to be a better person

For real, that was unneccessary. There's no reason to make a racist comment.. Just keep your rude comments to yourself.
I lived 42 years of my life not knowing the beauty of country music. Wish I discovered this earlier. Maybe I wasn't ready yet? This music speaks to my soul, to my life, to everything it is to be human.
Hope you are doing Joo, don’t forget the good stuff friend (:
Thanks for being 🎶a loyal fan and supporting my music ❤🎉😊
To Kenny Chesney I like everything you ♥ singfrom a great fan of yours
I hope you are doing fine in 2023. Country music is very soothing and it pairs well with booze lol
That's the main reason I love country so much its always telling a good story. And always relate in some way
Still listening in 2024☺️
My dad proposed to my mom while this song was playing on the radio and he said "would you spend the rest of our years sharing the good stuff together" personally I think that's the best way to propose
❤
Curious, Are you that young or he waited a while to ask her?
This has got to be one of the best country songs of all time!
+reluctant chrissy Have to agree.
+reluctant chrissy
I totally agree with you.
Not many these days, but this one.......yes 3X
I agree 100%he and George Strait is my favorite of all time
Always makes me think of my wife when I saw her hold our baby girl the first time :)
My grandmother just adored Kenny Chesney.. she taught me so much about life and love and friendship.. she has been gone 18 years. But every year around her birthday come back here to listen.. her birthday is May 28th.. this year this song hit me different, my grandmother used to say " your blessings come from the people who love you" this year I'm suffering severe lymphedema I can't even make it out of bed.. but thankfully I'm blessed with a family I got a 12 year old boy that loves cooking as much as I do and took over all the meals.. I got a 10 year old that won't leave my side just in case I need something. And I got a woman that cares and takes time from her day to make sure I have all I need.. it really is the good stuff.. im so thankful
2024 who’s still here?! kenny Chesney is timeless
I cry every single time I hear this when it gets to the line "Being right there as our time got small and holding her hand when the good Lord called her up". I just picture an old married couple that stuck together for 60 years through thick and thin lying in a bed together, and the man thanking the Lord for bringing his wife into his life and all the happy moments they had.
This song is a tear-jerker.
Same

brought tears, love hearing other thoughts on these vulnerable moments in ones life
My beloved wife died in January after 43 years of marriage. She had a prolonged illness and when the doctors did all they could, I held her hand as they followed her wishes to take her off life support. I held her hand as she left this world. I thank God for the time we had. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Here! I need a reminder at least once each year. Everyone has that song they always come back to
“SPENT FIVE YEARS IN THE BAR. WHEN THE CANCER TOOK HER FROM ME. NOW IVE BEEN SOBER FOR 3 YEARS NOW BECAUSE THE ONE THING STRONGER THAN THE WHISKEY” is what I’ve been shouting the past couple of days since my daughter was born this past Saturday. I’m only 21 and I go back and forth from this song to “there goes my life” by Kenny. but this one stands out to me because ever since my ex and I broke up I’ve been drinking everyday for over 8 months. going to sober up for my daughter. thanks Kenny for this song and the inspiration to do better and be a better person. More importantly be a great Dad.
Stay strong, me and my girl are expecting now she is 3 months
Do it for her AND yourself.
Youll be a better father and a stronger man when the time calls for it.
Try searching AA Intergroup meetings on google to find online AA meetings. Saved my life.
Man, they should make couples listen to this before they go through with divorce. This could save a lot of marriages. 😢

This and 'There Goes My Life' are lyrically two of the best songs ever written, and Kenny performs them flawlessly. Great songs that will be loved 30 years from now. And an artist that's one of country's best.
When it says “the whole first year burnt meals but asking for seconds to keep her from tearing up” it makes me laugh and then cry, no matter how many times I’ve heard it
That was the only thing you COULD do. It was right.
Its "eating burnt suppers the whole first year!"
I’m going on the the fourth year sober. It have a few here and there but it doesn’t take up my everyday anymore. Physically I’ve never felt better.
I never thought I could hear this song again. my wife passed away Oct 11th from cancer at 32 1.5 years after we got married.
I'm sorry to hear that! hang in there brother, there will be a resurrection.
Thats sad to here my father died on oct 11 as well 14 years ago and I just lost my mother two days after Christmas I'm 31 with no parents

OMG! I'm the same way! That's soooo crazy! It's cool how I'm not the only one that's been introduced to country music the same way.
A good country song, tells a story of heartache with a heart warming ending. Tugs at the old strings...

Well put.
Nick Parton she should think she won the fight life will be better
Nick Parton You must’ve been very simple minded to think a song like this is crap. I understood how amazingly deep this song is at the age of 9. Glad you have a soul now.
July 27, 2002 - Kenny Chesney's "The Good Stuff" begins a seven-week ride at the top of the Billboard country list!

Songs bring back so many memories and special times in life . Kenny will always be a favorite till the end.
Saddest line in my opinion was “when the cancer took her from me”
Thanks for your continuous love and support Macie❤❤
For how long have you been a fan of mine Macie??
Sadly, Kenny doesn't make songs like this any more - the best songs were earlier in his career.
Lucy M Pacific these days no country artists make this kind of music
People change, artists can't just keep making the same sound. They need a change of pace in their lives you know.
its pretty much pop now days. its all garbage now except a few.
u gotta keep up with
the times to stay relevant atleast in a music career
Yeah maybe, but sometimes where you come from and what got you where you are are the best ways to stay relevant.

Kenny Chesney has SO many hit songs, but this is one of my two favorites. It's filled with so much imagery you can almost see and that you can definitely see.
Yes. This and "Don't Blink" are phenomenal

I grew up on country and I remember this song from when I was little it means so much more to me now that I'm an adult and I understand it. it's been Years since I heard this last and it takes me back to when I was a little girl sitting in the backseat of my moms Car singing this with her on the way to school. good country can bring back such good memories
YES!

My best songs when I got married were from Kenny. He always nails it. I’m so glad my wife is with me after 15 years. Wish I could slow the time. We made it through our oldest child who had cancer. God is still blessing us everyday. Thank you Jesus for everything we have!
Been married a year in October. Have had a rough month. I hope it can get better because all I can do is listen to this and knowing she’s my life. She’s my good stuff..

I'm from NY. Moved to NC when I was 15. Never listened to country music, being from NY we always made fun of it without actually listening to it. Turned on the radio driving one day and this song came on....
Country music is one of the best genres of music, Chesney, Strait, the Rascal Flatts, Craig Morgan, Trace Adkins, etc are excellent.
This is one of the greatest country songs of the 2000s along side "I Hope You Dance", "Where were You (When the World Stopped Turning)", "Believe", and "In Color".
Yeah, it sure is. Those who find it are truly Blessed.
I haven’t heard this song in forever and for some reason “Spent 5 years in the bottle when the cancer took her from me..” has been stuck in my head all morning so I had to come and listen. I love this song so much. This is the good stuff 😅
My brother is a 44 yo bachelor. He’s also a bartender and recovering alcoholic. He’s been sober 6 years, and I couldn’t be more proud of him! No wife or kids, but I think of him whenever I hear this song, because it illustrates what being sober has taught him about life. He’s so passionate about so many things and so much fun to talk with. Ive been listening to this song since it came out. Reminds my wife and I of her mom since she died, my son was 1 years old, he is now 18. My mother in law had a brain tumor and lost the battle, after a year and a half in a comma. Reminds us of the happy memories we had with her. She will forever be in our hearts.
Some songs just stand out and take hold of your heart and choke you up, man, that's the good stuff, love this song can't get enough of it, thank you.

@Kenny Chesney I know most likely this isn't the real Kenny Chesney but I still appreciate the time that you took to reply to a comment that I truly and honestly believe and feel. Music is a story of life. And everyone had their own story and even if the song wasn't written personally by the artist it doesn't mean that song doesn't touch someone's life in a meaningful way and it's got me through some really hard times. I wish big name artist were able to meet normal everyday people because I really do love Kenny Chesney and if this person feels the same way then it means alot that you replied.
