I don’t care who your president is, I don’t care who won or lost the Civil War and I won’t mention Vietnam. This song really hits home, my wife and I have been married 26yrs , we've been a lot of things but we've never been over, Thank you, Darius Rucker. I love your music.
Saw Darius for my first concert at Riverbend Cincinnati 8 years ago. Wagon Wheel has always been my favorite from him. Oblivious to the encore after the concert, I was in the parking lot with my mom when he came back on stage to play this song. My mom and I heard it off in the distance and danced with each other in the parking lot until it ended. It turned in to one of my favorite memories ❤️
Thanks, buddy. You too. For my part, my health means I'll have to earn it, but I'm nothing if not stubborn. My own mum, not to mention my grandma, are dancing with us.
So much has changed since I first heard this song. I've lost friends, lost contact with family members, and understood what the song's lyrics actually meant. I came back across this song and it instantly reminded me of years past. It's definitely one of those songs that can bring back the memories without all the pain that comes with the nostalgia.

What i like about darius rucker is he is a modern country singer but keeps the true blue grass style music of the smokey mountains in his songs! Thats so rare in todays country.
My mom got me into country since I was young, always smiling, dancing, singing with a good bear or wine in her hands having good and positive people around playing live music ... best nights out are with her, she is best friend and mom in same. We are blessed to have parents like you. Wish u all the best from Croatia.
Whenever I'm feeling down, I bring up Darius's version of Wagon Wheel and everything seems so much better. Having previously lived in North Carolina for 21 years helps too. "Wagon Wheel" should be the NC state song instead of "The Old North State". Gimme a break ... it's way past time to move on.

It's funny how music can take you back to a very specific slice of your life when you hear it. This song takes me back to one of the most happiest and most stable times in my life. It's a great comfort.
I’m black and Mexican and I used to listen to Darius when he was with Hootie and the Blowfish. All my kids and grandkids love country music. One of my favorites.

We're having this song played at our wedding on August 18, 2023. We've been together 3 years and every time your song has come on the radio, we say we'll be playing this at our wedding! Thanks so much for being awesome!
The first time i was introduced to this song, it was at my wife's cousins funeral. Her best friend got in front and played an acoustic guitar and sang the words. I was in absolute tears. She did it justice. I will never forget it.
This guy is seriously good. His rendition here is close to the original by Old Crow and Medicine Show. I have to say he is a naturally-born country singer. Don't you agree?
I’m Scottish and I’ve totally falling for America’s country music, within reason. Heard this at scotland wedding last week from a traditional Scots band and It was incredible!
Music like this and classical Scottish music actually have a whole lot in common, just without any bagpipes ;D It's awesome that you made that connection. I'm an American who isn't a huge fan of country music, but I highly appreciate and respect it, especially stuff like this.
Ross Bryson......If you like our music type in this song .... Tennessee whiskey by Chris Stapleton . You can hear many other people singing this song doing great also. Thanks for like American music .
I love this song. My mother and I would sing our hearts out to this song but my mother is no longer alive. But I still listen to these songs as good memories.
This song pulls at your heart strings and lifts your soul up at the same time. It makes you long for the simpler times when you had no serious worries.

No, I listen to the REAL writers of this song. Bob Dylan who wrote the chorus and music, and Old Crow Medicine Show who got permission from Bob Dylan to finish the song. Darius didn't ask just copied everything. Do some research and prove me wrong.

James Randolph Personally I find Bob Dylan's palatable as it is. Still nonetheless, we must give credit where it's due. I can't call modern editing software and a nice voice "hard work."
Why did it take a black man, singing country for them to realize that country doesn't have to be only for white people? Do we seriously need to be taught not to be racist???? not to judge things based on solely skin color?

I don’t care who your president is, I don’t care who won or lost the Civil War and I won’t mention Vietnam. I just want to get over there, buy an old Ford truck and drive it across every state stopping at little towns and bars, finding things and meeting people, listening to music like this as a go.
Regan Ranby if you ever go to the USA go to Medford New Jersey. I used to live there and it is a beautiful small town with lots of farms and older buildings. It has a very rustic feel to it.
Plenty of amazing things to see and people to meet.
Come on over. We'd love to have you. :)

This song really hits home, my wife and I have been married 26yrs , we've been a lot of things but we've never been over, Thank you, Darius Rucker. I love your music.
God bless you both and for the next 26 years of happiness together ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Saw Darius for my first concert at Riverbend Cincinnati 8 years ago. Wagon Wheel has always been my favorite from him. Oblivious to the encore after the concert, I was in the parking lot with my mom when he came back on stage to play this song. My mom and I heard it off in the distance and danced with each other in the parking lot until it ended. It turned in to one of my favorite memories ❤️
As someone whose mum is no longer with them, I'm glad you got that and hope there's many more memories to come.
@@gallifreyanwren5057 my sincere condolences friend, I promise to take advantage of every moment. Wishing you a lifetime of peace and happiness. ❤️
Thanks, buddy. You too. For my part, my health means I'll have to earn it, but I'm nothing if not stubborn. My own mum, not to mention my grandma, are dancing with us.
Darius is the real deal. Guy just writes and plays incredible music. Always has
Superior human being also.
He didn’t write this song tho it’s a cover you should check out the original just as good!
@williamrmurphy4053 the orginal is infinitely better than this garbage
He 1000% did not write this. It's a cover. Check out the original by Old Crow Medicine Show! It's (in my opinion) WORLDS better.
Old Crow Medicine adapted this from a Bob Dylan song. They split the royalties.

Thank you 😊 Much love to you as well!
So much has changed since I first heard this song. I've lost friends, lost contact with family members, and understood what the song's lyrics actually meant. I came back across this song and it instantly reminded me of years past. It's definitely one of those songs that can bring back the memories without all the pain that comes with the nostalgia.

LYRICS:
Headin' down south to the land of the pines
I'm thumbin' my way into North Caroline
Starin' up the road and pray to God I see headlights
I made it down the coast in seventeen hours
Pickin' me a bouquet of dogwood flowers
And I'm a-hopin' for Raleigh, I can see my baby tonight
So, rock me mama like a wagon wheel
Rock me mama any way you feel
Hey... mama rock me
Rock me mama like the wind and the rain
Rock me mama like a southbound train
Hey... mama rock me
Runnin' from the cold up in New England
I was born to be a fiddler in an old time string band
My baby plays a guitar, I pick a banjo now
Oh, north country winters keep a-gettin' me down
Lost my money playin' poker, so I had to leave town
But I ain't a-turnin' back to livin' that old life no more
So, rock me mama like a wagon wheel
Rock me mama any way you feel
Hey... mama rock me
Yeah, rock me mama like the wind and the rain
Rock me mama like a southbound train
Hey... mama rock me
Walkin' to the south out of Roanoke
I caught a trucker out of Philly, had a nice long toke
But he's a-headin' west from the Cumberland Gap
To Johnson City, Tennessee
And I gotta get a move on before the sun
I hear my baby callin' my name and I know that she's the only one
And if I died in Raleigh, at least I will die free
So, rock me mama like a wagon wheel
Rock me mama any way you feel
Hey... mama rock me
Oh, rock me mama like the wind and the rain
Rock me mama like a southbound train
Hey... mama rock me
So, rock me mama like a wagon wheel
Rock me mama any way you feel (oh, I wanna feel)
Hey... mama rock me
Rock me mama like the wind and the rain
Rock me mama like a southbound train
Hey... mama rock me

I bet that was amazing! I want to go to Scotland.
