I'm sorry for your loss of your daughter. I hope listening to this song will be a comfort and know your daughter is at peace and smiling down on you in heaven. Peace be with you and your family.🙏
I’m so so sorry for your loss. Unless you lose a child you cannot understand the pain. My stepdaughter passed. She was beautiful. My husband and I are raising her daughter. We got her at 10 mos old and she’s now 10 years old. Both feel like my biological children.
In 1992 I was a Marine stationed on Okinawa, Japan for 12 months at my first duty station. My roomy, Mathew was a white kid from Fremont, Ohio and I was a black kid from Bronx, NY (by way of Trinidad). He would play country music and watch NASCAR every chance he got. I was going crazy. Garth Brooks was his favorite. Then he started listening to Reggae and R&B (just a little). My son was born while I was overseas, Mathew is the one who told me I had a boy because my leg was broken and I couldn't get to the Duty phone on the 4th deck (floor) of our barracks. Mathew was also at my side during the funeral service for my son 29 years later. Music.
This was the song my daughter chose for the father-daughter dance at her wedding. She got cancer and passed away 2 years later. I can't believe how fitting and prophetic the lyrics are. I break into tears every time I hear it STILL, after 16 years.
One of my daughter's songs at her wedding in Nov 2005, she passed May 2009. I saw her so beautiful dancing to this song, one of my so many great memories. God bless all.
I recently lost a Woman that I had a Relationship with not once but twice. This song takes me back to that relationship. I could 've missed the pain but I'd have to miss the Dance.
Going through separation. Next divorce. This hits hard, but to be honest the dance I had was done from the start. 33 years down the drain. Wish I could go back. Been selfish to never have said I was with child. I endured emotional, and physical abuse for too long.
A friend sang this while we were gathered around my husband in hospice. He lost his battle with cancer two days later. Always loved this song, but it’s even more special now, because it reminds me of him.
My dad was a huge Garth fan. He performed this song countless times. I had it played at his funeral. I come here and listen to this to feel like he's here with me. It's such a beautiful song.
He is with you sweetheart . . With a special place in heaven along with God. God will have a heaven with everything your heart wants. @henryscrabby5690 I do like some country music, yes. The new country music that is out today I don't listen to or even like. I like the "old school". Lol.

This is my song to my daughters father. He passed away in 2017. We have a beautiful 17 year old daughter. We got pregnant 2 months after meeting. Not a day goes by I don’t think if him. Thank you Steven for giving me the best part of you. You were my best friend! I love you forever! ❤

I used to have a copy of Garth Brooks first album on CD, with this song on it. On the back of the CÐ, it states that "The Dance" was voted "The greatest country song ever recorded!" I know the pain of loss, like everyone else. This song hits home!
every time i hear this song it reminds me of the only time i ever saw my mom and dad slow dance.they are gone now but the memories are so clear.thank you Lord for giving them to me for 64 years
Love thy parents as they are only here for so long. Thank you for that comment. Gratitude for your parents and all they do and sacrifice for there kids to have a better life than they did 🙏🏻
My little sister is the biggest Garth Brooks fan I’ve ever known. She knows every word to every song he ever released. She entered into hospice assisted care 2 nights ago fighting her battle with cancer. Tonight I lie awake with her on my heart as she continues her battle with terminal breast cancer. This is her favorite song. She’s wise beyond her 38 years to choose this as her favorite song. No more poignant words have ever been spoken; I could have missed the pain, but I’da have to miss the dance. I love you sis.
I'm so sorry about your sister. I lost my at the age of thirty. She was my best friend. I am crying right now thinking of her. I am in a time in my life where I am struggling. I need her and I don't have my best friend to talk to.
@@jenniferpowell7255 my condolences to you, Jennifer. Losing the ones we love is never easy. It leaves a hole in our hearts that can never quite be filled. Your sister is at peace and I pray that you will find peace as well. All my love
Lost my husband of 22 year's recently I miss him something awful but glad he's not suffering any longer. I'm grateful for those 22 year's! He made me so happy and whole. Now I'm feeling lost and lonely. They tell me time heals just feels like a black hole getting bigger. I don't wanna go anywhere or do anything as we were always together. I don't feel right going into the world without my love. I go to work but only because the bills keep rolling in. If not for that I'd never leave the house. I'm grateful for the time we had but doesn't stop me from wanting more. I'm grateful for the dance.
I'm not a Country music fan,but this is definitely one of the most touching and symbolic songs ever written. If it doesn't hit you with tears, its because you've probably never felt a powerful loss in your life or you're not in tune with life and your heart.
I think of my parents when I hear this. I was adopted by 2 of the best parents I could of had!! I love and miss you both so much. I'll see you again in heaven
@@ronbridges678 years ago I was told that there's a special place in heaven for parents that adopt a child. We adopted our daughter the day after she was born and she's truly a gift from God. I have mad respect for your parents, and i hope for my wife and myself to have that impact on our daughter's life as your parents have had on yours.
We played this at my cousin's funeral last year it's brings tears every time I hear it, he was my age 43 he was texting his wife and ran into oncoming traffic head on with a semi truck, gone in a second 💔 please put the phone down on the road. Be safe everyone 🙏 ❤️
Thank you for sharing that Adam I’m very sorry for your loss. One of my best friends died 11 years ago the exact same way texting her boss telling her she was going to be late to work that night and was speeding going nearly 100mph and lost control of her car and wasn’t wearing her seat belt not that it would have helped and was ejected through the windshield and killed instantly so I am with you on the put the phone down while driving thing.
My condolences, but you are right. Absolutely right, it only takes one second. Many blessings to you, but understand, he is in Gods care now, hes alright, and you will see him again one day. He just moved to a better place.

This song hits me differently since I lost the love of my life to suicide. I would have never missed the dance with you Scott despite the pain I feel without you. Love you forever.
My sister fighting cancer one day we spend time with that will forever be etched in our hearts. She wanted to listen to music. She danced with her children. This song came on when then she asked my brother to dance with her. They danced the whole song. She rested her head on our brother’s shoulder/chest area like that’s where she just wanted to feel comfort & that she got for the rest of the song. My brother gave her comfort that her idiot husband wouldn’t give her. He was to busy starting to replace her. Her family her core family will never replace her. She’ll forever be missed. She took a piece of all our heart with her. We love you sis more than words can say. ❤
I’m sorry about your loss, I know how bad it feels to lose someone you love cuz I lost my other half five years ago 😢 I love the song myself and it’s does help cheer me up. I guess you’re a country music lover??
My husband and mines song. We've been scared, stupid teenagers together. Homeless and hardly surviving, to 14 years later we're all grown up with a family of our own. And this song is such a hallmark moment in our lives.
I can't listen to Garth Brooks without crying it makes me think of me and my Dad riding around when I was a young girl 12-13 years old and we would listen to the whole album. I lost him to a heart attack in 2011
Speaking from a father's point of view Bugs, what you said was probably the happiest part of your daddy's life. The little things matter more when we are with our babies like that.
Sorry for your loss in 2011. Garth Brooks sings this song beautifully. It's tough to listen to when you've lost someone, but it can help ease your pain. I've found
Same here, my dad passed away when I was 13. We would always listen to Garth Brooks during car rides before we went on the best adventures. His music can’t help but make me cry and smile all together. I feel you ♥️♥️
My best friend watched me marry another man, I didn't know he was in love with me. My ex walked out the door and my best friend walked in and said I've been so in love with you for so long. Said this song came on one day after I'd gotten married and he felt every word. We got married and had 2 amazing babies. Now I listen to this song alone, he was killed in a car accident 10/10 turning into our driveway on our son's 6th birthday. I miss you j so much, I'll tell our love story with my every breath
I was 7 years old. My dad never came home from work. A drunk driver hit him head on. This song was played at his funeral. RIP Carl Phillip Wathen. August 8th 1960--April 12th, 1992.
When This song came out I instantly loved it. Now, as a widower of 10 years, it still touches my heart and soul. I would not have missed my dance with Don for anything. Love you Garth
I worked as the forklift driver for two weeks at the texas stadium in the early nineties for mr brooks. He would jump on my fork and ask me to to take him whereever. I was the last person to drop him off at his bus on the final night. I love this man. Met his father his mother and had a smoke with his sister. When the trellis fell garth showed up with mr mcbride. I was in the stands he was wearing a george strait hat and gym shorts and saw heard garth say: “when will enough be enough. That’s when I knew this man was the real deal, and I will always love him for his care for humankind. He visited the hospital of the injured people. I was not one of them. His love for mankind will always resonate with me in my heart. I love this man as a brother from another mother.

this song has so many meanings to it. I played it at my moms celebration of life. She was the one who talked me into going to my senior prom even though i didnt want to, we lost a classmate the night before prom. but my mom told me this is your last dance you will get no more. then the last song at my prom was this song.
Thank you so much, Maria! Your kind words are like a warm hug and they make me feel so appreciated. Keep on listening and I'll keep on making music from the heart. And sorry about your son
This was the father daughter dance at my girls wedding. Every time I hear it it brings back those memories. People were in tears while we were dancing. Lots of deep meaning.
So many people in life dint realize just hope short an special life is. The people we love an we hold close to our heart can be gone in a blink of an eye. Always tell the ones you live HOW MUCH YOU DO LOVE THEM EVEN IF THEY KNOW ,ITS ALWAYS GREAT TO HEAR THE WORDS "U LIVE YOU TOO❤"
2024, still play this all the time. Reminds me of my mom and how I said goodbye to her that morning. The weeks leading up to her passing were some of the best we had ever had.
I love listening to these country songs from all these great country singers… I’ve been a lover of country songs from my childhood cuz I grew up listening to them. I guess you’re a country musician lover??
I truly wish that the writer of this song knew how a whole FAMILY could be written out and you stand alone totally lost, broke alone. Holding in to threads for life.
This song helps me to "heal from miscarriage" from 20 years ago. At that time I had been married 13 years and no kids. I felt a bad joke on me! My heart still breaks even though I had a girl in my 14th year and a son in my 16th year. Your heart still breaks for the child you never got to hold and see grow up!
I thank all those who replied to my grief. I still would like to hold my daughter. Here is a true fact: when I lost my daughter, my cousin who was 2 years younger than me asked if she could name her daughter after the one I lost! I was so HAPPY and felt she considered my feelings of loss and I said of course. The irony of the whole matter is my cousin died on my birthday 2 years ago! 😥
@@reddwine1899 BLESS YOU FOR YOUR KIND REPLY! I have been feeling guilty for 20 years because when I lost the baby inside of me @ 18 weeks, I was the only one who could feed and nourish her! It helps us mother's to heal to know that we are NOT alone in losing our child!
I lost my twin and play this song all the time It reminds me of my painful loss and so thankful I didn’t know when I would lose him. I couldn’t have bared it. Thankful for having such a loving brother to go through life with! The pain is the price for having had such a bond with him!
My grandma went Home two days ago, I’m playing this at her funeral. 😭😭 my world seems to have fallen apart. I love you and I will find you and grandpa to have a dance
This played at my grandmas funeral in 2017. I still listen quite regularly to this day… It doesn’t get easier but I understand your pain. She’s with my grandpa now and so is yours ❤️
Our family just lost a beautiful young soul at the tender age of 19. Lost tragically in a motorcycle accident. This song came on the radio on our way down to the funeral. It is a beautiful reminder to enjoy every moment with the ones you love.
Thank you so much, Kim! Your kind words are like a warm hug and they make me feel so appreciated. Keep on listening and I'll keep on making music from the heart.
I am crying 😢 my eyes out. I just read the obituary of a close friend from college. I dedicate this song to Belinda I will forever remember you. Rest In Peace my love ❤😢
I lost my wife of 42 years in January this song is everything to me because it describes the life we shared through good and bad ill always love you Jerrie.
I believe it's because in today's day many people choose to not participate in the Dance of life so there isn't any love or sorrow to write it out of their souls& in turn help others with these beautiful lyrics
Lost my brother in 1997. Garth was his favorite..every time Garth comes on the radio I always say hey bubba. I love and miss you and cry so hard I get sick. Every single time. Until I see you again little brother. Save me a spot
As you keep trusting the Lord, He will favour you and elevate you to heights beyond your imagination.... it's been long when I lost my lovely wife her death pains me alot 💔Garth was her favorite too
The first time I heard this song, a very special relationship had just ended. My 12 year old son was seated next to me in the car as it played. I felt every word and somehow I knew he did, too. Fast forward 13 years. It wasn't long after that break up that I did meet 'him.' We were married and while we raised are 3 combined children (and adopted a fourth), good and bad happened, but we were so glad we were together. I think my son and his daughter did better in life because of it. Unfortunately, he had contracted Interstatial Lung disease where he worked. After 20 months of difficult, painful bouts, he died only a few months after our 11th anniversary and our fourth child's graduation. It has taken years (20) to get where I'm at. This song takes me back, and makes me glad that original dance had ended.
I lost my wife of 23 years and our 3 year old son in a house fire on Feb 27th 2023. I'm haunted every minute of the day. I was lucky to have them in my life, but this song nails it completely for me. I remember dancing with her to this when we first starting dating and it takes me back to that moment every time. I miss my family so much🥺🥺🥺
Thank you, I really don't feel like going on, but I have no choice in it. So all I can do is be thankful I got to have them in my life and celebrate their lives for the rest of mine.
I send you my condolences my friend. It's really nice you keep in your heart the love for them for rest of your live. And it is also really nice that sometimes this kind of beautiful songs drive us to moments of deep feeling.
I'm grateful for every encounter I've had in my life no matter how bad or tragic they ended up being for every person I ever met taught me something very special or gave me great memories because that's what's all about his lessons and memories that's the only thing you carry with you everything else can be taken away
I've known as child my children neighbor been always a wonderful man. As we grew older we always talked, hung out, laughing, singing songs and dancing together on his porch or mine. Never said nothing bad about anyone. His energy was felt everywhere. He passed this year day before Easter. I'm truly heart broken 💔 I long hold on to the great memories 🙏❤️💙 I love you ❤️
Garth Brooke's undoubtedly the best country music performer ever. I live in Vegas and went to see him at Caesars Palace best concert I've ever been to. Love him. He's the best!
Thank you so much, Deborah! Your kind words are like a warm hug and they make me feel so appreciated. Keep on listening and I'll keep on making music from the heart.

We never know when it will be the last time we see our loved ones. Let the little things go and love your family. You never know when that opportunity may be gone.
I have a lot of trauma due to losing people & from others things& reading all these stories break BREAK MY HEART!!! It shows you 1 POWERFUL THING IS THAT, to me, music has saved me so many times& gotten me through when I never thought I’d get back up& it does that for all of us!!! That’s a beautiful thing!!! It helps us cope heal, feel& whatever we need it’s there!!! My thoughts& prayers are with ALLLL of you in pain& suffering & I’m so sorry for each of you individually, I’m sorry for your pain, I pray you will see the sun again& take it day by day& I wish healing on all of you!!! God bless
I miss the original video. It brings me back to an earlier time. It first reminds me of the relationship I had with my father and the video images of John Wayne take me back because my father admired him and actually looked like him. The song also reminds me of my precious daughter who I lost at an early age. Yes, "I could have missed the pain" but looking back, I would have never missed the dance. Love you Amber.
This song made me start believing Country music was great again when I was a teen listening to rock and was thinking I knew everything and glad and thankful I had parents who taught me to love a variety of music. No one can dispute the beauty of this song and genius of it. Thanks for keeping it Country y’all.
I remember hearing this song in 1991. My first husband was in military during Desert Storm and there were a series of concerts given for returning military. Garth Brooks and Kathy Mattea were at the Scope in Norfolk< Va.. Great song. Good memories with good friends. God Bless this country. May it Forever Stand till Jesus comes.
My best friend in high school had leukemia. He was the friend that would do anything for you.( even hide you from an abusive stepdad, while looking the cop in the eye & say “ haven’t seen her”❤️❤️All he wanted was to go to the prom. One last dance. He died just a few hours before we left for the prom. We played this song, hundreds of students came to his funeral. So many they had to block off the street’s & business opened their parking lots for him. 35 years have passed. I love you Raymond♥️♥️♥️
Omgosh my story is not as bad as some of these comments so God bless you all. My husband passed away in 2004 from a massive heart attack in his sleep and we have 3 kids together. Every time I hear this song it means alot to me because I would not have missed the dance ever. 😢😢
My favorite song of all time hands down nothing else even comes close. The most powerful song ever written I want this song played at my funeral and a CD of it put in my casket when it’s all over

My oldest son died from complications during surgery from a motorcycle accident..this song was his favorite...his funeral was a very awkward one due to the divorce between his father and i...bht i acted very professional and held my head high for my son laying in that casket and my youngest trying to deal with the lost and not allowed to speak to me said his stepmother but anyeay i didnt know this was his favorite song and when they started the song up ii totally lost it...stil to this day i cant even listen to it on radio...but i love the song...❤sometimes i play it just to remember how much he musta loved this song
26 years ago I lost my baby. I went through hell but I made it back. This song reminds me of our journey together. Although it may not mean exactly what the song is saying, it fits my story. They say life goes on, and I agree, but so does the pain. I thought about posting a tribute to John David, but instead I figured this was the best way to honor a life that never got to experience what the world has to offer. My prayers he is in heaven greeting all the other babies that were taken from their loving parents. I pray he is dancing in heaven with Jesus and his family members that are there with him. I will count the days until I finally get to hold and dance with you again. I love you son!!
My mama and I loved listening to this song together. She lost her vision when I was 6 years old. She had a very very tiny bit she could see but it was very hazy. Anyway, she would get her face up so close to the TV to see the official video for the song. Anyone who knows that video, knows how chilling it is to watch while hearing these lyrics. Mamas been gone 21 years this September and I miss her every single day. 😢
Thank you so much, Donna! Your kind words are like a warm hug and they make me feel so appreciated. Keep on listening and I'll keep on making music from the heart.
We played the song at my mother's celebration of life and we played it for the slideshow while watching pictures and listening to music and this is one of the songs I picked . I love this song . Mom RIP i love you ❤
Literally the best song ever written about breaking up with the only person you could ever seeing yourself loving and still being able to see the bright side of the worst imaginable thing. Which is also stupid for even thinking because there's no bright side to having your heart destroyed at all.
An accurate description of what this song conveys. Says everything I think and feel having to go on after being separated from the only person I have truly and deeply loved and cared for.
My daughter died in a traffic accident, she was only 23. We played this at her funeral. It breaks my heart every time I hear it..

"I could've missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance". With joy comes sorrow. Such haunting lyrics.
My favorite lyrics. I have cried while this song has played many many times. Tbh.
Wow
So true

Going through separation. Next divorce. This hits hard, but to be honest the dance I had was done from the start. 33 years down the drain. Wish I could go back. Been selfish to never have said I was with child. I endured emotional, and physical abuse for too long.
A friend sang this while we were gathered around my husband in hospice. He lost his battle with cancer two days later. Always loved this song, but it’s even more special now, because it reminds me of him.
Please remember that nothing lasts forever...enjoy the dance while you're in it. ❤

Hello Ashley
God bless and comfort you. Thanks for doing the right thing.
💐
Reading the comment section as the song plays in the background is heartbreaking. You can see how much love and pain there is in losing a loved one.
❤. Sometimes I really need to hear this song. Lost my mom when I was 19. That was 26 years ago and it still hurts
Same here at 19. This song is what pulled me out of it quite magically. Listened on repeat until healed. Could've missed the pain, but.. 🎶

So not just me bawling
That’s what im doing now. Tears rolling down my face with release of emotion.
One of the greatest songs ever produced. Not only is the poetry great but the melody and music is just beautiful. It’s a classic, no doubt about it.
I used to have a copy of Garth Brooks first album on CD, with this song on it. On the back of the CÐ, it states that "The Dance" was voted "The greatest country song ever recorded!" I know the pain of loss, like everyone else. This song hits home!

I totally agree with you. 😎❤️✨️
Definitely in my top five songs of all time
every time i hear this song it reminds me of the only time i ever saw my mom and dad slow dance.they are gone now but the memories are so clear.thank you Lord for giving them to me for 64 years

Lost my mom to cancer a few years back. The hardest thing I;'ve ever had to endure. My heart goes out to you bro. Stay strong dude. You got this.
Amen
My little sister is the biggest Garth Brooks fan I’ve ever known. She knows every word to every song he ever released. She entered into hospice assisted care 2 nights ago fighting her battle with cancer. Tonight I lie awake with her on my heart as she continues her battle with terminal breast cancer. This is her favorite song. She’s wise beyond her 38 years to choose this as her favorite song. No more poignant words have ever been spoken; I could have missed the pain, but I’da have to miss the dance. I love you sis.
Sis drew her last breath this morning. No more pain. She’s dancing up in heaven now and we’ll see her again soon
I'm so sorry about your sister. I lost my at the age of thirty. She was my best friend. I am crying right now thinking of her. I am in a time in my life where I am struggling. I need her and I don't have my best friend to talk to.

I am so sorry ❤❤
I'm not a Country music fan,but this is definitely one of the most touching and symbolic songs ever written. If it doesn't hit you with tears, its because you've probably never felt a powerful loss in your life or you're not in tune with life and your heart.
Yeah, I don’t care for country music either. But there are some country songs that I do like and this is one of them
I think of my parents when I hear this.
Dance so you can always look back and me waiting too noghing but dance
Same here. I teared up when I heard this song a few weeks ago and got some very specific memories of someone who left my life.

I can't listen to Garth Brooks without crying it makes me think of me and my Dad riding around when I was a young girl 12-13 years old and we would listen to the whole album. I lost him to a heart attack in 2011
Speaking from a father's point of view Bugs, what you said was probably the happiest part of your daddy's life.
The little things matter more when we are with our babies like that.
I’m eleven and I lost my very close great uncle and he told me to play this at his funeral
I am so sorry for your loss honey, know that he is with God today watching over his little girl now.
Sorry for your loss in 2011. Garth Brooks sings this song beautifully. It's tough to listen to when you've lost someone, but it can help ease your pain. I've found

My best friend watched me marry another man, I didn't know he was in love with me. My ex walked out the door and my best friend walked in and said I've been so in love with you for so long. Now I listen to this song alone, he was killed in a car accident 10/10 turning into our driveway on our son's 6th birthday. I miss you j so much, I'll tell our love story with my every breath
What music did he like to listen to? Did he like Garth?

I was the last person to drop him off at his bus on the final night. I love this man. Met his father his mother and had a smoke with his sister. When the trellis fell garth showed up with mr mcbride. I was in the stands he was wearing a george strait hat and gym shorts and saw heard garth say: “when will enough be enough.
That’s when I knew this man was the real deal, and I will always love him for his care for humankind. He visited the hospital of the injured people. I was not one of them.

Hello, how are you today? It’s nice to meet you here.
How are you? So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song

Hello, how are you today? It’s nice to meet you here.
I saw him in Orlando, Florida sing this sitting on a barstool with just a guitar. Marvelous. And beautiful
Such a beautiful memory does this song allow me to revisit the morning, afternoon, and nights with my beloved ones...Where are the bodies?
My mama and I loved listening to this song together. She lost her vision when I was 6 years old. She had a very very tiny bit she could see but it was very hazy. Anyway, she would get her face up so close to the TV to see the official video for the song. Anyone who knows that video, knows how chilling it is to watch while hearing these lyrics. Mamas been gone 21 years this September and I miss her every single day. 😢
@@Garthbrooks77stop acting like you're Garth Brooks! You are not Garth Brooks
Songs that gave meaning. Most everyone can relate to good old love songs. It's like a hot soup on a cold rainy day. It feels good going down. 🤠
My sister died of colon cancer at 33. She left a 5 and 7 year old behind. This song always reminds me of her, my best friend, the best sister.
Thank you so much, Donna! Your kind words are like a warm hug and they make me feel so appreciated. Keep on listening and I'll keep on making music from the heart.
Such a beautiful song! Garth is one of my favorites! To everyone in the comments who have lost loved ones, sorry for your losses

Hello, how are you today? It’s nice to meet you here.
you are right
everlasting
Literally the best song ever written about breaking up with the only person you could ever seeing yourself loving and still being able to see the bright side of the worst imaginable thing. Which is also stupid for even thinking because there's no bright side to having your heart destroyed at all.
An accurate description of what this song conveys. Says everything I think and feel having to go on after being separated from the only person I have truly and deeply loved and cared for.
