I am 53 years old, and recently an empty nester. When I hear this song, it takes me back to my high school and college years, and I kind of relive that youth when I hear it. This is such a great song. Thanks, Kenny, for taking us all back!
A high school friend of mine took his life 5 days before Christmas. This song has been playing over and over in my head nonstop since I heard the news.
I really want to go back in time and restart my childhood again because I miss being a kid, it’s getting difficult making friends these days and I don’t wanna be an adult anymore. I also want to go back in time and restart going to school again because I miss going to elementary, and middle school as a kid. I also miss going to summer and high school as a teenager so much. I hate being an adult and want to return going back to school again already 😢
@@lsnlsn4938 But being an adult is not fun and I can’t take it no more because no one wants to call, text or hang out with me anymore. I prefer being a kid instead of an adult and my life sucks nowadays 😢

This reminds me of my youth. I turned 51 on 4/4/21. And I’d give anything to go back and relive my younger years. Especially the way the world is now. We had it good in the 80’s as teenagers.
waking up on Saturday morning to ride your bike to your buddy's house and then ride around all day catching up with all the other friends and trying to play as many downs of back yard football as you can before the street light comes on or mom yells for ya.
I lost my mom and little brother who was my best BEST friend in the world...both in the last 2 years...and I would give anything to go back. Appreciate your family is my message to all souls. Tomorrow is SO not promised....
Listening to the song makes me cry every time. My dad would always play Kenny Chesney and sing during the summer. Memories spent on the lake in Tennessee, Grilling cheeseburgers on the grill, and riding bikes with my childhood friends... Now I’m in college and I miss the good old days.

I am sorry for your loss. When I was 17 I was in a bad car wreck due to drinking and driving (I was in the backseat) and they almost lost me. Long story short I had an 8 percent chance of living and being 100% brain dead IF I did live, I was life flighted, prnounced dead on the scene (covered in blood/seizuring) I was cut out of the car and then life flighted to Dallas. so yes like you said Don't drink and drive man its not worth it
I lost my best friend on Valentine’s Day… many years ago, he was walking his girlfriend home… from a party, the snow was heavy, they were walking against traffic so they could get out of the way when traffic came, a Drunk passed a car on a bridge and took him out… it still haunts me today after 40 years 😢

I go back to my brother and I being kids. Our grandparents were still alive, our mom was still alive I go back to my son and his girlfriend taking me to see Kenny Chesney. Thank you KC
"to the loss of a real good friend and the 16 summers i shared w him" i go back... Happy birthday Mat!!!!!! Forever almost 32.. only the good die young.
Kids, cherish these times you have. You may think school sucks, but man high school can be one of the funnest times of your life. Don't be in a rush to grow up... It's not any better on this side, trust me. Enjoy those bon fires deep in the woods. Enjoy the lake and skiing. Enjoy those pep rallies. Enjoy Friday night football. Before you know it, it's over. Take it easy and take it all in. You can never go back, sadly.
Man... I remeber sitting in my highschool parking lot in senoir year listening to this song with a group of my buddys not really understanding the meaning of this song....We were looking forward to graduating, and "growing up", getting real jobs, etc... Then covid happened...never experienced prom, never had a highschool graduation, never got to experience my senior year and never truly got to emotionally detach from my highschool... Now fast forward 4 years, my buddys don't hang out anymore, we've all got separate lives, all have jobs. Now I listen to this song and it brings me back to those highschool days, smell of fresh cut grass on the football field, seeing your buddys everyday, summer football games, screwing around in class with your friends, enjoying life before "real life" began....Man I miss those days...what I would do to go back..... I see all of the other comments, man this song has made an impact on so many...our storys may very, but we all have the same thing in common...remembering the good ol days, and how blessed we had it and didn't even know....cheers to you all...
I'll be 42 in July and don't feel a twinge of old until someone, or I say 1980, 1998 (the year I graduated high school), 2002, (year I graduated college) my oldest nephew being 19 and a freshman in college, my nephews not know what things are (like a rotary phone) and hearing a song that was popular in the 80s used in a commercial for whatever (the Cheers theme song in an Applebee's commercial). I need to back to 1988, sitting in the way back seat of my parents' Buick station wagon with no seatbelt on and having a good old time as we headed to Branson, Missouri for vacation.
I close my eyes, and this takes me back to the beaches of the Carolinas and Delaware and being young with the girl I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with. She and I didn't work out, but this song puts me right back there with the sand and the crash of the waves. Man, I loved that girl
I’m a 27 year old man, and I’ve heard this song since I was 7 or 8. It takes me back to simpler times when I was just a kid living life, now I’m almost 30 and have my own child. Crazy how time flies and there’s nothing you can do to change it, I’d go back to being a free kid any day. Enjoy your life while you have it, because you only get it once.
***** This is a beautiful song as it takes the aspects that keep life enjoyable and simple ever-present! It has a special unique meaning for us all... Kenny, thanks for all the music you create... hope to see you in concert again soon with a Blue Chair in hand!
If you are north of 40, and this song doesn't bring you back to your youth... you might be dead inside. I didn't think my teenage years were particularly special - at that time - but looking back, thy were glorious, and appreciate every single memory.

Music is a common bond we as humans have, It is not so much the song itself as it is the memories that are triggered by certain songs during certain times in our lives. Music is in a way a time machine. Del Reeves girl on the billboard takes me back to when I was 3 years old sitting in my basement with my fisher price record player. Bangles Manic monday takes be back to 3rd grade, riding in the back of Heather's Volkswagen beetle. It felt like I had forever back then LOL. Sir Mix alot baby got back takes me back to 1992 at the skating rink with my friends, the world was so new and everything was exciting. Only the good die young still gives me chills as my mom died at the young age of 52. Can't help falling in love takes me back to july 2nd 1994, my first kiss. When I hear "when you say nothing at all" I can STILL smell the fresh perm on my first real girlfriend. The list goes on. Music is the ultimate time machine. Cherish those you love. Make every day count! Live each day as it is your last. This is the ULTIMATE song that discusses this matter how music is such a common bond for us all. It is hard to listen to this song with out a tear coming to my eye..
Every time I hear and this song and other songs of the album it takes me back when I was 6 maybe 7 and we were living in a town house and this song and the album were the biggest at the time he even won album of the year for it and entertainer of the year but it takes me back to that time where the album was big and every time you'd flip through country music channels you'd find one of his music videos off his when the sun goes down album or on the radio you'd find one of his songs off this album a lot so every time I hear one of his songs off his when the sun goes down album now on the radio I cherish that and just remember when this album was big and when it was made and how young I was
Dude I’m 18 and watching this while we’re doing virtual school, something I never though we would be doing but I got what’s left of 1 semester of highschool, man the memories going thru my head rn
Every time I hear this song, I go back as well. Like taking the car for a ride around town with music blasting and waiting to "Grow up" so I could leave my city. I was without a care in the world. Little did I know that being an adult, your life flashes 15 years in the blink of an eye. Cherish every moment! Life goes fast. The days go slow but the years are fast.
I *LOVE* this song!! “Every time I hear that song, I go back.” SO many songs take me back to different times in my life with different people - some good, some bad - but *ALL* of them create the fabric of my life. ♥️ MY 20 year H.S. reunion is this year, and I VIVIDLY remember when my parents attended my *MOM’s* 25th H.S. reunion! It all goes by so very fast. 🙏🏻

Long story short I had an 8 percent chance of living and being 100% brain dead IF I did live, I was life flighted, prnounced dead on the scene (covered in blood/seizuring) I was cut out of the car and then life flighted to Dallas. so yes like you said Don't drink and drive man its not worth it
Amen
It's not a tragedy until they've experience something like that but I wish that on no body mo family
I lost my best friend on Valentine’s Day… many years ago, he was walking his girlfriend home… from a party, the snow was heavy, they were walking against traffic so they could get out of the way when traffic came, a Drunk passed a car on a bridge and took him out… it still haunts me today after 40 years 😢
Amen
I just go back. To childhood, mine and my son's. I go back to vacations we had as a family. I go back to all of us, me, my husband, our son and our 3 cats, and 1 dog.
I go back to my brother and I being kids. Our grandparents were still alive, our mom was still alive
I go back to my son and his girlfriend taking me to see Kenny Chesney.
Fr bro
I actually went to his concert last night
I’m 28 years old and haven’t heard this song for a long time.
For a guy that grew up in South Carolina… what a rush of memories I get from this song.
I see all of the other comments, man this song has made an impact on so many...our storys may very, but we all have the same thing in common...remembering the good ol days, and how blessed we had it and didn't even know....cheers to you all...
lol
bro just wait until 10 more years from now how nostalgic it will be
Lost my best buddy in high school (1978) in an accident. Song just grabs me in the throat . Miss you Rob.
God this song is just perfect. Anyone from any generation can listen to this when they’re past 25 and it just hits you. Beautiful.
28 now and I still remember listening to this in the car at age 9 and didn't know the true meaning till now back then was a different time indeed
Absolutely❤ it
I'll be 42 in July and don't feel a twinge of old until someone, or I say 1980, 1998 (the year I graduated high school), 2002, (year I graduated college) my oldest nephew being 19 and a freshman in college, my nephews not know what things are (like a rotary phone) and hearing a song that was popular in the 80s used in a commercial for whatever (the Cheers theme song in an Applebee's commercial). I need to back to 1988, sitting in the way back seat of my parents' Buick station wagon with no seatbelt on and having a good old time as we headed to Branson, Missouri for vacation.
I graduated high school 5 years ago but this song still sends chills down my spine every time I hear it.
10 years has flown by huh? Right there with you man
@@joshuad1716 same. 10 years this past may!
9 years for me this June, time flies brotha
13 years for me and I've lost both parents since then. Been brutal but my family is so strong. This song always gets me ❤
Makes me think of my dad- that I'm losing but haven't lost yet Love them while you've got them ❤
For forever I felt the same way about my great grandparents a few months ago
Real asf🤝🏾
I can never get enough of this song. This is the ultimate song about how growing up shapes us into who we are
*****
This is a beautiful song as it takes the aspects that keep life enjoyable and simple ever-present! It has a special unique meaning for us all... Kenny, thanks for all the music you create... hope to see you in concert again soon with a Blue Chair in hand!

Thanks for the love of and your support..
Are u one of my big fans
If you are north of 40, and this song doesn't bring you back to your youth... you might be dead inside. I didn't think my teenage years were particularly special - at that time - but looking back, thy were glorious, and appreciate every single memory.
I’m 35 and this so g literally makes me cry every time man. It’s such a powerful song. Only country can do that to me, especially this song.
Saw him last Saturday in Detroit and never thought I'd bawl my eyes out at a concert but man did it happen when this came on.
Happy birthday to one of the greatest musicians ever to grace us with his presences Mr. Kenneth Arnold Chesney.
I miss being 17 years old playing football and four wheeling and just stay up all night talking to my friends man I miss my friends ugh I will hopefully soon go back to my home town and see all my friends

makes me think of my childhood friend that passed away 11 years ago. All of our dreams of riding our motorcycle cross the country never happened. See you again Darrell
Sry for your lose
I have a sort of similar situation my cousin who has been my friend for my whole life is moving to Massachusetts and I'm moving to Tennessee
This song gives me goosebumps. This song is responsible for me enjoying country music.
This was the first country song I ever heard, and have loved country music ever since
McPe_GaMeR same since i was 3
that's good country is the best music ever
C Smith This song takes me far back
amen
Reminds me of my freind Ryan. He was my best buddy threw 6th grade and Jr high years.. He took his own life our freshman year I never understood why untill years later. I'll never forget the laffs and good times we had. Rest easy freind. Never stopped thinking about him.
You go
Every time I hear and this song and other songs of the album it takes me back when I was 6 maybe 7 and we were living in a town house and this song and the album were the biggest at the time he even won album of the year for it and entertainer of the year but it takes me back to that time where the album was big and every time you'd flip through country music channels you'd find one of his music videos off his when the sun goes down album or on the radio you'd find one of his songs off this album a lot so every time I hear one of his songs off his when the sun goes down album now on the radio I cherish that and just remember when this album was big and when it was made and how young I was

DieselDucy sing it baby!
I went to Gibbs high school where this was filmed, it's so cool to watch this. Damn good song always been one of my favorites.

PandaHatGuy Awesome
Dude I’m 18 and watching this while we’re doing virtual school, something I never though we would be doing but I got what’s left of 1 semester of highschool, man the memories going thru my head rn
Every time I hear this song, I go back as well. Like taking the car for a ride around town with music blasting and waiting to "Grow up" so I could leave my city. I was without a care in the world. Little did I know that being an adult, your life flashes 15 years in the blink of an eye. Cherish every moment! Life goes fast. The days go slow but the years are fast.
Me too my brother Amos! 🥳❤️💯🇺🇸👏🏻🍻

“Every time I hear that song, I go back.” SO many songs take me back to different times in my life with different people - some good, some bad - but *ALL* of them create the fabric of my life. ♥️
MY 20 year H.S. reunion is this year, and I VIVIDLY remember when my parents attended my *MOM’s* 25th H.S. reunion!
It all goes by so very fast. 🙏🏻
Time goes by too fast 😢

I just lost a very dear, dear friend. Thought maybe listening to this would help. I got 5 seconds in when i knew it was a bad idea. I did spend about 16 summers with him. Gone at 33.
