A P0351 Code is set when the computer (ECM/PCM) detects an issue with the primary or secondary circuit for ignition coil “A.”
Ignition Coil “A.” is the number 1 cylinder.
Possible Causes of a P0351 Code:
Bad ignition coil
Ignition coil wiring
Bad Spark Plug

I’m an older 66 year old. Old school mechanic. Logging and hot rodding type. Helping my grandson fix his S-10 first car. These electronics and wiring has created a nightmare. I can only throw parts at it. Process of elimination. I have a scan tool. It’s just like this guys says. It could be this it could be that. Many electronics can’t be tested. Or they won’t do wrong when it’s cooked off from running. I used to like to mechanic. Now days you are a parts changer. No way to know what’s wrong with this modern plastic electronic junk. I swear.
Especially every time I buy another part that doesn’t fix the problem. Damn it!!

Checked wiring and parts all test good. Still have the code wondering if the vvt could be the cause. I replaced the drivers side but not the passenger side vvt valve. I was having similar issues on drivers side with the bad vvt. So I'm wondering

I've been getting misfires under when under load (accelerating, gearing up, etc). I am am getting these codes on Coils A and C even after replacing the coils and plugs, and the car won't start. The car is 340K km, could this be related to VVT and timing? Could it be a failed phaser and cam position related?

I only have one coil on my truck, no coil packs. I have code p0351 ignition coil open primary. So should I still start at the plug wire ?

I’m getting a misfire on cylinder 1 as well as code for primary/secondary circuit for A and D, cylinder 1 coil was fried so I replaced all coils and spark plugs but still fried cylinder 1 coil, any idea what’s happening?

I would check the coil on cylinder #1 and the wiring going to the coil
