- Sorry about the audio!!!
This ones chocked full of good info if you can stand the bad audio. I see a lot of people that dont understand how to properly calibrate their DBW throttle setups and give up. I hate that! there is so much more to offer over DBC.
Check it out and let me know what you think! - Авто/Мото
This is by far the best info I’ve found to help me with my idle. Even with the audio, it’s well worth watching the whole video.
Thank you for taking the time.
I have to give you a massive shout out my man! I've been driving my 392 Hemi swapped, stick shift C10 for the last year with it stalling under decel conditions. Watched your video, played around with a few settings and boom, no more stalling! You rock 👊
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you for posting it.
So glad I found this, some of the best information I’ve found. Subscribed.
This is the information I needed. Thank you so much for posting this kind of content. I’m a little late to the party but I’d be 100% stuck trying to get this figured out on my own. Awesome stuff!
This video was the Key to fixing start up and rpm dip and stall occasionally. Thank you a ton!
Very well done videos. This video is particularly helpful, but more importantly, your videos are done in terms that I can understand. You're very clear about what you're teaching, and I really appreciate that.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful!
Very good in-depth of idle for a drive-by-wire system. I've tuned lots of EFI but I always learn good stuff from these videos.
Thanks for posting even it bad audio - it was worth it.
Well you made the IAC system super clear. Helped me resolve my stalling at stop issues. IAC was all over the place, ended up at 10.5 throttle value and now the iac is running 1-2%. Car drives smooth and transitions to idle like a brand new car. Thanks for posting. The audio vs the learning wasn't bad at all.
That is the ticket! I did not know this, and you saved me. Thank you for sharing this info, I am new to Holley and this was giving me fits. Subscribed and gave thanks and mentioned your channel on my C3 LS7 build series.
Fantastic! Glad it helped. I’m hoping with a little loose to get time to film an advanced version of this today so keep an eye out.
Excellent, just fired up my dominator for the first time today and this was exactly what I think I need to get the car to stay running, will try it tomorrow.
Thanks for your time a lot!
Bad audio or not.... this was exactly the info I needed. Thanks for posting. 👍
Be sure to check out the more recent in depth idle video
This is great - thank you for sharing!
Great video, I have been suffering with a idle problem for some time, I will give this a try, knowledge is power. Thank you.
Dude, seriously can't thank you enough for this. I have installed several dbw terminator kits now. And I have had to send every one of them out to a tuning shop just to get the damn things to idle. So frustrating. Now I have had a terminator ECM fail, and again with the new ECM and old tune file it wont Idle, Ive got 100% IAC and wont idle over 700rpm. Looking forward to trying this tomorrow. FWIW Techs at holley have been ZERO help with DBW idle issues. Thanks again.
Appreciate the info!
Thank you very much!!! This was very helpful.
Such good info. I've helped with base tunes on several drive by cable cars, but have been beating my head against the wall trying to make my friends DBW car idle right. Frustrating because it's nearly an identical setup to my car (which idles beautiful) only difference is the DBW. This is the exact info I was looking for. I'm actually excited to go to the shop tomorrow and mess with it!
Just a follow up since I had time to go to the car I had been fighting. In about an hour of messing around using your video as a guideline.....I was able to take a dbw car that would idle so poorly that we couldn't even get it up to operating temp to actually dial in the fuel table....to one that cold starts, hot starts, and will go down the road. Thank you so much for this video!
Subbed, found you after being told “yeah man Holley does could but you can never get them to idle” I open up the idle stuff and then get told “ nah man you leave that thing in learn and just keep driving it and driving and eventually it will work” “but still have problems idling”… I think I can take the knowledge from this vid get it running better in like 30 mins…
You can make them idle beautifully. If you have any issues ping me on my Facebook page
Thank you so much
I Love it !!
Thank you
Best info i found. Thanks for putting this out. Got my car idling better, especially when in gear. No more stalls. How does your remote tuning work? Would like to get it dialed in a little better. Thanks again
Shoot me an email at tuning.gsp@gmail.com and I will explain pricing and send you my spec sheet
So how about a drive by cable setup. Oh and we gotta see that spark plug reading video you should make lol
I was able to apply this to my drive by cable setup. Basically I opened the throttle blades with the screw on the side of the throttle body instead of making the DBW motor do it for me. I opened the blades up until I saw the IAC position drop to just above 0%. Then I recalibrated the TPS. Then I checked that my timing was close to matching my target timing. This told me that the ECU was not trying to reach target idle speed by either compensating for air with the IAC or trying to change timing.
Saved my sanity 😂 thanks
Great video! One question, once you set your throttle position, do you need to do a tps autoset or is that only for cable driven? Thanks
TPS autoset is done on any setup to establish max and min throttle for the ecu. This is not done after setting iac appropriately with DBW but it is done after setting a cable throttle body so that the resting position again becomes 0%
Thanks!
How about the IAC for mod motors? Should IAC be higher? Like between 40-100?
Great video once the first throttle vs pedal setting is made getting the IAC 2-10 %, is it necessary to scale the rest of the table? My truck is idling great but on a easy throttle crack open it wants to stumble so I’m wondering if the throttling is opening too fast on the first transition from the first number headed towards wot
That’s likely acceleration enrichment
@@greenshortsperformance472 since it has a cam should or would you attempt map vs tps rate of change I’m thinking yes
@@nitrofever tps roc is what you’d adjust either direction
@@greenshortsperformance472 thank you….im assuming that it only would need to be adjusted where the tip in hesitation is occurring?
18:00 what is the actual effect between 0% and 35% IAC Kick on A/C settings? IT seems like with 0% the system still figured out it needed to raise up to 35/40% anyhow?
Great info. I played with my settings today and with the throttle to blade at zero adjusted to match the tps needed at idle it settles to zero% IAC, is that ok? It idles fine.
Absolutely. As long as it’s just touching zero and not pulling a bunch of timing. Mines the same way depending on weather etc.
Correct me if I’m wrong. But that stall saver table isn’t doing anything, because the advance enable is TPS below 2%, shouldn’t that be set to Pedal Position?
This is something that I have found to be very inconsistent with Holley but I think you’re right. Pedal position is a more robust way to do that. In honesty I have since started doing this an even better way since making this video which probably warrants an addendum
What does the IAC represent in a DBW engine? Does the IAC number represent the throttle blade opening?
Yes it does! Since all metered air goes past the blade the IAC has a range of available tps that it can move the blade.
This is over my head, don't own a laptop, mine fires right up and idles like a champ right out of the box, put in gear at temp foot on the brake, all is well, but iac is around 22, with my drive by wire, the search continues.
If it’s working for you just fine that’s ok! If you ever decide you want to take it further I can provide remote tuning or you can put the SD card in a computer to make edits.
@@Whiteaw57 thank you, I'm not doubting you ,im confused about it being fine if holly recommends between 2 and 10%? like Maybe I just haven't experienced the right scenario for the issue to arise, since I can't get the vehicle on illegal roadway yet to test for the stall or stumble issue at sudden stop. I really do appreciate your responding.
How can I do traction control
You would need wheel speed inputs for at least a drive wheel or driveshaft and one for a driven wheel. You can then use advanced tables to pull timing or chop the throttle based on the difference in speeds
