Terminator X Tuning - Disable Key-On Fan Operation

  • A common complaint we see with Holley Terminator X users is in regard to the fan control. Holley's Basic I/O is setup with some basic operations for controlling 1 or 2 electric fans, with or without A/C. And while these fans are temperature activated, there is nothing in this Basic I/O that prevents the fans from kicking on as soon as you apply key on power to the car, even if the engine is off. In some cases, this can contribute to difficult hot starts and low battery voltage. Follow these easy steps to disable the basic I/O for fans, and use custom output(s) with triggers instead.

    I've watched a lot of videos on Holley stuff, and hands down, you present the info in the best way I've experienced. Extremely clear and STRAIGHT to the point. VERY much appreciated!

    Thanks brother super simple easy video to follow idk why I couldn't think about this but I just changed everything around now also added a prevision for speed myself so fans kick off at 35mph instead of causing turbulence and slowing the air

    Thanks Matt! Please follow up with the PWM video and since many of us are using the Contour dual fan, I prefer 2 fans with different temperature settings. I'm currently using the Flex a lite PWM controller and it works well, but will be using the Terminator in the future with separate fan control .

    Good vid, thanks for the info. I'll need to do it a little differently since I am in fact using a PWN fan. I'd like the fan to be set at like 80% when AC kick is on.

      @@LeechMotorsports Now I'm having a problem. When my fan comes on the engine starts surging. Fan goes off it takes about 20 seconds for the engine to return to a smooth idle. Battery drops to 13.4 volts when the fan kicks on but then voltage surges with the idle up and down as well. Any thoughts on what I should look into? I've been trying to get this car drivable since before Christmas to no avail and it's springtime and I need to get it going.

    I've had a Holley Dominator since V2 firmware. Why Holley hasn't added a feature for fans off with key on/engine off in the canned software I don't know.

    does this setup work for a single 2 speed fan? i am mostly just concerned about turning off the 1rst speed at 190 but turning on the 2nd speed at say 185. would i simply need to not over lap the settings? example turn off speed 1 at 190 and turn on speed 2 at 191.
    i currently run a relay setup that steps through based on 2 temp sensors and want to switch to sniper fan control to avoid alt belt slip/screech at start up.

    After implementing this technique, the 3.5" handheld no longer displays the fan's on/off status. Is there a fix for this?
    Thank you!

    • @LeechMotorsports
      @LeechMotorsports  Год назад +1

      There is not a fix for that. That’s the trade off. The actual pro dash stuff can be setup to show when they activate. But I don’t think there is a way to make that work on the handheld.
