I have a question! I’m 9b Sacramento and have a dreaded split season (July/August = hell on earth). I’ve never grown determinants but they seem like a nice easy win. When would you start your seeds for them? Do they grow slower? I’ve always been afraid that something terrible will happen (late freeze, sneaky aphid or spider mite attack) and that I’ll lose my one opportunity to get them pollinated. Indeterminants at least allow me several chances. I should probably google this stuff, but thought I’d ask you and B since you’re expertise is likely better than some random blog. :)
@@melissasullivan1658 Good questions! They do not grow slower. They are just like other tomato plants except they will give you all your mators at once instead of over a long period of time. Plant them same time at any tomato. If you are in Sacramento you can start them now. :)

Hi Bridgett, I live in west central Florida, zone 9b I have had my black krims in the ground now for about 3 weeks , they are producing fruit, hopefully it doesn’t get too hot to fast here because we are in the 80’s during the day and 60’s at night perfect growing conditions for them, can’t wait to eat them, my Florida Everglades tomatoes produced all winter long for me they are small currant size fruits but so delicious, happy gardening 🌱🌱🍅🍅

@@lilycardoso4679 same county!! 6x8 also mine will multi task as it’s up hill a ways to the shed. It’s not to say to get much help on how to use one in a hot dry climate, I’ve asked on gardening FB groups and it’s lots of cold weather gardeners who answer and they get up set you would want storage for garden products in your green house. I got the best tips from San Diego seed company for shade cloth and the like.
@@cristyrobertson9165 That's awesome. We need to keep in contact. I'm having a hard time keeping temperatures below 110 when the sun is out. I hung 30% shade cloth inside, I run a small fan during the day, I have an automatic vent opener but I still need to open the door also. Have you run into this yet? I also run a small heater at night.
@@lilycardoso4679 , I don’t have the polycarbonate on mine yet, but I figure I’m going to need shade cloth and have a 14 in solar fan that will get installed once we get the polycarb on.
I know you say not to worry if you are late because we have a long season but last year I planted in April and all my tomatoes just got started putting on fruit and the really hot temps hit in June and everything stopped..We barely got any tomatoes because it was just too hot from Jun-September. By then the plants were in bad shape. We even had shade cloth...How do I avoid that this year?
Where are you located? If your soil is really good and developed, they should be able to stand the heat of summer. Add compost, horse manure, organic fertilizer, worm castings and make sure to not miss a watering in the heat. If your growing in a pot, make sure it’s a BIG pot! Use a saucer on the bottom to catch water. Mulch the soil too!
Plant again in a semi shade area of the garden or use shade cloth. sandiegoseedcompany.com/product/tools-and-merchandise/garden-shade-cloth/ Harvest heavily and regularly to slow down the flowering process.
Hi!, I live in San Jose, CA. Our nighttime temperatures in April are around 45 F and days are in the high 70s. Is it safe to plant Peppers and Eggplants outdoors? Or should I wait till May? PS: my peppers and eggplants are outgrowing the pots indoors. I started them too early in January :(

I'm in Valley Springs. I think we're in the same zone. How big is your greenhouse? I have a small 6x8' and it's been struggle to learn how to use it.

This was a very good video I live in zone 9 and have had a better season this year just when summer hit It am worried
Summers can be brutal. Consider using 40% shade cloth in the hottest part of the year.
