Check out this performance and interview with our friend Dan Mayo-drummer, musician, sound designer, and self-proclaimed “noise maker.” In addition to his musicality and technical abilities, Dan brings a fresh and creative approach to electronic/hybrid drumming, using wide-open, well-tuned drum sounds as the foundation of his unique style.
Here’s some information on Dan’s drumhead selection for this video, and some background on why Dan chooses Remo Drumheads.
1. 26" Kick (side) A&F 1901 limited edition antique white with Remo Coated Ambassador on beater side, and Fiberskyn on reso side.
2. 16" Kick A&F Raw Brass with Remo Coated Ambassador on beater side, and Fiberskyn on reso side.
3. 16" SNOM A&F Raw Bronze with Remo Ambassador Fiberskyn on top and Ambassador snare side on bottom.
4. 14" Snare A&F Raw Brass with Remo Coated Ambassador on top and Ambassador snare side on bottom.
5. 8" Timbalito A&F with Remo Coated Ambassador.
Notes from Dan: "For me, Coated Ambassador just works every time on all drum types/sizes, it's my go-to head, I feel like I can easily tune it to every situation, also it really helps bring all the drums' tone out, and I can actually feel the drums.
Fiberskyn on the kick's reso side gives me all I'm looking to get out of my kick, It's open and airy with a great warm decay, and low mid 'boomines' that just work perfectly for me.
Remo and I go a long way, ever since the start of my career to date, playing Remo just feels like home to be honest."
