Very cool video. I recently spent a week cutting on an English Jambpeg and I have an old French one waiting for me when I get home so Its great to get some inspiration from videos on a part of gemcutting that I don't know. Thanks for the video.
Hi Justin, I think it's much like your hand-piece and you don't have the problem of repeatability. Give it a try, I think you would enjoy it. The challenge would be the English Jambpeg!
Thank you so much for your video. It’s really nice to see jampeg faceting still lives. I would love to learn the style also. I’m a Sterling’s handpiece lapidary. I would like to see more.
Trying to do more videos but a bit new at this. I have used mast machines for many years but like my jamb peg best of all. I think you would enjoy using one.
I will do some, but maybe just short video's on different aspects of useing the machine. If you are looking forward to cutting without angles, angle stop and diagrams then you will enjoy using it.
Thank you for this video Bob. I would love to learn this style of faceting. I have no idea how the index is changed on these "Jamb Pegs" as they have a specific amount of sides. Hopefully we see a few more videos in the future. All the best Cliff
As you can see in the pic the index is set at 64, at this position this would give me 8 mains. Then I have 1 off left or right, 2 off left or right, 3 off left or right and the 4 is the star facet setting
My machine was from Zamrot Ashalim Engineering, Israel. Now made by BHandsa Engineering, Israel but not sure if available anymore. Kalpana Machine Tools India make the som faceting machine, looks the same to me and a lot cheaper!
@@boblakey1359 Thank you for your answer, if it’s not a secret, what do you add to shellac? I made shellac 4, rosin 2 and crocus or chalk 6... but with crocus it seemed better to me. Some of us make a mixture of sealing wax and shellac.
@@boblakey1359 I am from Russia, I watch your videos with interest, I have such a “head”. a copy of the Israeli one, made by a very good turner and 5 additional ones with a collet for 8 sides and 3 additional ones with a collet for 6 sides, I looked at the links that you kindly posted, in India there are different ones, from 4 to 22 they wrote... I don’t think so they are running, I hope I need 5 (8 edges) and 3 pieces (6 edges each) for my needs......
@@СергейВальтман-е6ш The only decent index dops I have seen are the KMT dops, only come in 8 side=64index and 6 side=48 index. But unfortunately they have a minimum purchase quantity. I have made a 8 side=96 index but hardly ever use them. I would not use the index dopsticks on Ebay or Etsy as the ones I have seen ate very poor quality. contact KMT Jaipur, maybe they will sell you a small quantity.
@@СергейВальтман-е6ш I've kept my recipe secret because the last person I told started selling it. My machine runs 1400 and 2800rpm, and as long as I run a drop of water I don't have any problems. I just use the two ingredients, 4 parts shellac and 2 parts filler and it works very well for me. So once you get a recipe which works well for you, stick with it as it's going to be better than any commercial dop wax.
The ultimate no-nonsense faceting machine. Really need to try one.
If you ever do then buy a good one, not the cheap junk.

a well-equipped small workshop and a master at work💎👍
Thanks for the comment. I have used 5 mast machines and I Love the jamb peg
Great video Bob. Just making my jamb peg machine now. I would really appreciate another video showing the
detailed use of the indexed peg.

@@boblakey1359 Thanks Bob. I understand, the index is spring loaded.
Bob did you make the preformer yourself?
It's part of an old Korean faceting head and I just added the bearings

Thank you for the nice comment
I just got a jampeg but I'm having trouble knowing what numbers to cut stars, mains and break facets, can you please guide me
Do you have the same dopsticks?
Ótimo trabalho amigo
Parabéns
Thank you
Hello. Do you offer training to learn the JAMB PEG technique? CORDIALLY
Sorry, can only offer the videos but i'm happy to help with any questions you may have.
Onde posso comprar uma maquina dessa?
KMT Jaipur make the Som jamb peg, same as the Israeli machine
A favor, what is the brand of the faceting machine?

Hello, what additional wax do you use? Is this shellac with chalk? or something different?
Home made shellac based wax. I don't use chalk but I think it would work fine.

Hello, how to buy this device😊
Look for BHandasa Israel and Kalpana Machine Tools India
Boa noite, muito bom seus videos. Voce pode postar um explicando como funciona?
Ou quem sabe uma desenho de como usar?
obrigado
Will try to do a video or presentation explaining how to use it when I get a chance
