Must be a dozen ways to dress a copper lap bt this works for me...and 14000 is even better, can polish many more stones before the lap has to be dressed again.

@@boblakey1359 Yes, I've seen many ways to dress a lap. I like copper laps and use them all the time for pre-polish. I find they can go black quick and have to be cleaned regularly. However, the results are good and cost effective.

Hi Bob. Great job. Very interesting. I want to ask you after putting so much effort to charge the lap for how many stones to be polished it can be used? Is it only for one stones to be polished and then the process should be repeated all over or can be used for few stones to be polished, if for more then one how many?

Depends on the stones I'm cutting. Somewhere between 30-60 small sapphires and then a good clean and dress again with an old 600 topper can continue to use untill the scoring is gone...takes a long time.

The only tool required for this method is a knurling tool, you should be able to purchase this from any machine tool supply shop.
For small stones probably not necessary.
