    Come back to Jekyll again and include the world famous Driftwood Beach, shown in many movies. Then come see us on Saint Simons Island, right next door.

      @j2pov  5 месяцев назад

      We are definitely going to have to come back since being told by others as well that I missed this famous beach. Honestly I didn't even see a sign to point me that beach but I surely will be going back now that I know its there. Saint Simons and Brunswick are my other spots I want to see up there. What place are you referring to next to Saint Simons airport?

    • @nicosia2
      @nicosia2 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@j2pov I meant that St Simons is right next door to Jekyll. But plenty of fun on SSI too. Southern soul BBQ across the street from the FBO. Fried chicken at the Porch and great shrimp everywhere!

    My buddy and I just flew into Appleton WI for Oshkosh this year and the uber driver that drove us from OSH to ATW owned one of those cottages that you showed in the video. He was telling us all about the island and the history of the island. Very cool that this popped up in my feed. Nice flying and good narrating for the trip.

    Those houses are part of an incredible history, same with JI Club. You should read up on it you would appreciate it even more! That’s the main thing about Jekyll, the 150 year history.

      I plan a return trip but next time It's going to be the tour of the plantation and driftwood beach instead of just touring the whole Island. Thank you for your insight on this.

    You should check out Southern Soul BBQ at St. Simonds Island someday (KSSI). Great ribs and a nice area to visit. You can usually use their club car.

      St. Simon and Brunswick are both on my radar as well. We just decided to go to Jekyll first. Thank you for the restaurant referral though so now I know where to visit when I do go there.

    I used to fly up and down the coast, based out of Savannah. Dinner, or lunch, or shopping etc. Fun times. Brunswick/Jekyll/St Simons, all little airports very close to each other was the destination from time to time. I once took my gal and another couple down the coast to St Simons to eat at what was supposed to be a very high end and great restaurant, Emmeline & Hessie's. Turned out to be the worst eating experience ever! Bad service, bad food, high prices. The only time I ever remember making a restaurant remove the tip from a bill. They are out of business now lol. Anyway...love flying up and down the coast in that area, especially at night in good weather. Seeing the tributaries and intercoastal with the moon shining off of the water is very nice.

      St Simon and Brunswick are definitely on my list of places to stop. Sorry to hear hear about your experience and that restaurant. I hate it when these establishments get such great reviews and you have to find out the hard way that the review was not true. At least they have closed up so no one else has t make that mistake. Flying the coast is something I have been looking forward to for awhile. I have a trip to Virginia planned so I will get to see what you have already done. Thank you for sharing your experience.

    Just found your channel and I'm impressed with your videos. Very down to earth. I now have a second aviation phrase I'm going to remember and use...fly good..land gooder! Love it! I'm a private pilot near Houston at KDWH. A checkride away from my instrument rating. Looking forward to following you guys! Oh the other phrase is "welcome to the sky" which you probably know belongs to LD of lewdix aviation channel on RUclips. GREAT VIDEOS you guys, Keep it up!

    We lived down in that area (St. Simons) for about 3 years. It really is a great place to live. Or, it used to be anyway. My wife worked at FLETC and I work for Gulfstrean in Brunswick. We'd still be there if it weren't for the gnats and yellow flies... )-:

    I love Jekyll Island. It's a fantastic place to fly to. My wife and I stopped by for a day trip after a long weekend in St Augustine. And we knew we had to come back. We were there over memorial day weekend and had a great time. We will return.
    It doesn't look like you got to driftwood beach. It's in between the pier and ocean view beach. Next time check that out. It's weird but cool weird.

      I love this place and I will definitely go back. I did not make it to driftwood beach or to shark tooth beach but that just gives me another reason to visit there. I'm glad you had a great time while you were there. Was it busy on that holiday weekend you went?

    • @1dullgeek
      @1dullgeek 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@j2pov where we went we didn't notice it being very busy. Except for the one time we went into the central area where the shops and the Westin was. And even that wasn't awful. We mostly stayed away from that.

    How much to park the plane and for the golf cart rental?

    • @j2pov
      @j2pov  6 месяцев назад +1

      The FBO does not charge to park the plane. If you just want use a cart to run into town and eat, they have courtesy carts for you. They have a 4 hour rental and a 24 hour rental. I used the cart for about 6 hours and they only charged me the $90 4 hour fee. They were very nice about it. I believe the 24 hour rental for a 2 person is 130 but they have 6 person carts as well, I’m just not sure of that fee
