  • Fosi Audio's BT30D PRO is an advanced 2.1CH Bluetooth 5.0 Receiver Amplifier that delivers HiFi music quality, making it the perfect choice for your home audio entertainment needs. The device allows you to connect passive speakers, passive subwoofers, powered speakers, or powered subwoofers to create a DIY stereo sound system.
    *Correction*: The watts mentioned in the video are neither confirmed nor correct. I will provide an update to its actual power rating when we can independently test the device at 8ohms (RMS). The watts provided by Fosi are 165w @ 8 ohms (MAX). The RMS is probably around 80w, though the PSU most likely is not hefty enough to provide that. Texas Instrument (TI) also claims less than Fosi on their Op Amp page. I will mention this in the next Fosi product review. Please note, this type of misleading advertising is common to the audio industry. Upgrading the Power Supply is going to yield positive gains, but will be more money.

It has a frequency range of 20Hz - 20kHz, a total harmonic distortion (THD) of ≤0.03%, and a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 108dB. The TPA3255 chipset used in the device provides high-power efficiency and low-power stage idle losses below 1W.
    In addition to its impressive audio performance, the BT30D PRO has various control features. It has a professional wireless amp with subwoofer frequency, SUB volume, master volume, bass, and treble controls. During the connection process, the device produces no pop sound, and there is no audible noise, ensuring you have an enjoyable HiFi music journey.

    I have one of these. with 8 ohm speakers you have to turn the volume to 80 percent to get relatively loud sound. i put some 4 ohm speakers on it, and its much better. plenty of power with 4 ohm speakers.

    What is your opinion about Fosi DA2120C compared to bt30dpro.. DAC makes the former one better ? Especially for a laptop audio output.

    • @newsboyaudio
      @newsboyaudio  Год назад +1

      I've never used that DAC, and the pro overlaps in function. So they are probably not the best to pair. I'm limited in the feedback I can provide.
      We use the bt30d pro for laptops. The biggest issues are a lack of security and a loss of the bt connection when restarting the device. But it's easy to setup.

    For thoose interested in buying an External PSU, here is a cool video on them. They suggest a few that do not perform as advertised. Also, consider upgrading the entire unit rather then buying one of these, as the price combined puts it into stiff comparison. Still, if you want to buy this, and upgrade later.... its maybe a good option: ruclips.net/video/wJeQO-E1U1g/видео.html
    Part of the problem upgrading right now, is that the PSU qualities are uncertain, and what they are finding is that the ratings are not always accurate on them. I do see that FOSI plans on coming out with its own upgraded PSU. Hopefully, they will give real numbers to what they have. Would love to test these more, but the testing equipment I want is over $2k.

    I just got the Fosi Audio BT30D amp to power my speakers and sub. This doesn't have a DAC but I do have the FIIO Q3 headphone amp/DAC. I was going to use my TV Sony 48A9S aux out to Q3 to the BT30D. Is there anything wrong doing this? To power my speaker components and passive subwoofer?

    • @newsboyaudio
      @newsboyaudio  Год назад +1

      There are better solo devices for what you need. And if you are using your TVs aux out, you just need to use the aux in on the fosi. There are some fosi products with optical in, that might work better then the AUX out on your TV.
      By the way fosi bt30d pro has an DAC, it just requires Bluetooth and may not be compatible with your TV

      @NewsBoy Audio, Electronics & Gadgets
      I already have the FIIO Q3 and thought it's not getting much use to see if it would be a good combo on the Fosi bt30d. This isn't the pro model. I got mine for $55. I felt like I couldn't pass on the deal.

    • @newsboyaudio
      @newsboyaudio  Год назад +1

      @@nicholaskissinger I believe you can use the Fiio q3 as a dac as it has digital in. It might sound better then the TVs dac and audio out. But the non pro version of the fosi has rca analog inputs. It maybe possible to hook up the tv to a Bluetooth audio source as well. The only thing the fiio gives is an ability to take the spdif (or digital out) and convert it to analog. Everything else can be done with the fosi. I’d suggest trying to connect your TV directly to the fosi first using the analog or Bluetooth.

      @@newsboyaudio now this q3 hv thx rating. Doesn't that mean anything or the chipsets

    • @newsboyaudio
      @newsboyaudio  Год назад +1

      @@nicholaskissinger It means something, yes. Will it matter? Not sure. That is a very good dac, but now your power supply on the Fosi is going to be the weakest link. And that might exceed the capabilities of any THX AAA capable dac. The best policy is to try and compare the two, at the same volume levels. This might be tough, without a Sound Pressure (DB) reader. You can try with your phone. Also, if you can repurpose the FIIO, you may want to bipass the fosi, if you can.

      Please check the link in the pinned comment I just made.
      Just an FYI, the output is around what I said. Probably closer to 40w 8ohms at RMS. You do need an external power supply to get more than that. Still a great AMP, but not at the power of 165wx2. Also, the tests above are not as extensive as I'd like. Some other amps will only provide that power to one channel. Also, I pinned a link to the RUclips video testing external power supplies with the BT2.0A Pro, which uses the same OP Amp. What they found, is that it delivered 40w-50w at 8 ohms. But that is not RMS, and its unclear which power supply provides that. I suspected it was around 50w, which is why I used that number. I was unsure it was right, but its looking very close.

      @@newsboyaudio One thing all receiver/amp manufactures seem to be doing these days is giving rated power numbers at something like only 20,000hz where power draw is minimal rather than across the entire range which includes the power sucking bass ranges like they used to do in the old days.
      Those numbers as far as true realistic power output at rated specs is a joke at best and a damn right lie to be honest.
      But I will say these small/cheap amps are great for running say a small set of passive speakers off of your computer and they take up very little room on your desktop and sound better than they should for under $100!

      You can use one channel of the pre out for a powered sub.
      The powered sub amp should have an adjustable crossover and gain with which to tune the sub to your speakers and desired level and your subs volume will then be controlled by the main volume knob on the amp just fine.
      I have one of these set up this way running a small set of Klipsch speakers and a powered Klipsch sub and it works great.
