Cambodian Beef Salad Recipe This recipe will guide you through the process of making a traditional Cambodian Beef Salad. It's a refreshing and flavorful dish perfect for a potluck or any special occasion. Ingredients: For the Beef Marinade: 1 lb beef, thinly sliced Juice of 4-5 limes (enough to cover the beef completely) 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for balance) For the Sauce: Juice extracted from marinated beef 1 tablespoon fish sauce (prahok) or substitute with regular fish sauce 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, adjust to taste) 1 teaspoon chicken soup mix (or chicken bouillon powder) For the Salad: 1 cup bean sprouts 1 stalk lemongrass, finely chopped 1 cup thinly sliced eggplant (soaked in water and drained) 2-3 cloves garlic, minced 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced 1 small shallot, thinly sliced 1 bunch fresh mint leaves, stems removed 1 bunch fresh basil leaves, stems removed 1 bunch cilantro leaves, stems removed 2-4 red chilies, thinly sliced (adjust to taste) Instructions: Marinate the Beef: Thinly slice the beef and place it in a large bowl. Squeeze enough lime juice to cover the beef completely. Mix well to ensure the beef is fully coated. Allow the beef to marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. The lime juice will "cook" the beef, turning it slightly white in color. Extract the Juice: After 30 minutes, use a lemon juicer or your hands to squeeze out as much juice as possible from the marinated beef. Set the beef aside. Collect the juice in a saucepan. Prepare the Sauce: Heat the saucepan with the extracted juice over medium heat until it comes to a boil. Add fish sauce (prahok), sugar, and chicken soup mix to the boiling juice. Stir well. Let the mixture simmer for about a minute to allow the flavors to blend. Once done, pour the hot sauce back over the marinated beef to further cook it. Prepare the Salad: In a large mixing bowl, combine the marinated beef with lemongrass and sliced eggplant. Mix gently to coat the ingredients with the sauce. Add the bean sprouts, red bell pepper, shallots, and minced garlic. Gently mix the salad, being careful not to crush the bean sprouts. Finally, add the fresh herbs (mint, basil, cilantro) and red chilies. Mix everything together until well combined. Final Adjustments: Taste the salad. If needed, add 2 tablespoons of fish sauce or adjust the seasoning to your liking. If you're serving children or guests who prefer a milder flavor, set aside a portion of the salad before adding the chilies. Serve: Plate the salad and garnish with additional herbs or red chilies for a pop of color. Enjoy your Cambodian Beef Salad! This salad is best served fresh, offering a wonderful balance of sour, salty, and slightly sweet flavors, with a variety of textures from the crisp vegetables and tender beef. Perfect for any gathering!
You a great cook no doubt it but the dish is called cambodian lap. Most people get it confused with Lao and Thai style larb which is ground beef or pork style.

I enjoy the term “crunchy eggplant” 😂 looks good bong. I’m going to try this today. This is what happens when I rather go out instead of staying home, learning how to cook Khmer food from mama when I was younger. Now I tell her I have RUclips to help me.
Cooking with Elissa I couldn't agree more with that statement. By the way great job with the video! Keep it up, I can't wait to try making some of these myself.
It look really yummy. But your video is too long. By the time I finish this video, I no longer crave this food. Maybe next time you can shorten it or speed it up a little. But all great Cambodian food take time to prepare. That is why I hate cooking. But restaurant just doesn't taste authentic anymore..
That looks delicious 🤤
Ellis your the best ming 😊😁

The egg plant that she uses here is called a "Thai egg plant."
The other chi is called coriander
coriander is the long leaf with the razor edges. The one some people use for kathiew.
