If people could afford food, they wouldn't need a food program. What's wrong with you? Why can't you see what you are doing to this country? Or is this part of your WEF plan ?

How can Canada sustain this spending? I am outraged at the lack of insight by the ndp/lib gov. No seats ever again.

My question exactly. Who or where are they getting all this money from. Today there was another 6b announcement.

Where are these magic lunches coming from? Schools no longer have cooking facilities and what kid of crap are you going to serve kids? Bugs deep fired? Where is this $ coming from? We don’t want hand outs , we want our money to spend as we wish

I know that's what the majority wants. We need to keep strong and get the Liberals out of office next Oct/25

    What a fricken tool FJT.
All it is is a guise to make us reliant on them, make it seem they're helping Canadians, when the could easily fix it by axing the tax.

My question is, Where is this money coming from.? We also know, that because this is a Government-run program it will cost us taxpayers 4x the amount of money than bringing a home lunch. Therefore it makes more sense to lower taxes so people can afford to buy food to make lunches. Having said that let's remember all the Liberals have promised in the past and none have been carried out to completion as yet. So let's hope this also will be another non starter.

"Fairness"? How is it fair that the politicians who serve and represent the Canadian people gave themselves a raise yesterday when many Canadians are facing large-scale financial uncertainty and hardship?

how indeed.? However, it is not the countries fault. I still love this country and it will get better. Just be patient until Oct/25.

@@nerther7625 The question is whether we will still have a country by then as Trudeau and Freeland have spend our country to the precipice of national bankruptcy. They are also on the verge of subjugating our sovereign interests to the wims of the WHO/United Nations/WEF before we ever get to Oct/25.

At a 1 Billion price tag you know at least 50 million is going towards a DEI assessment of food choices. And it will mostly be tofu imported fro China.

The CBC will never comprehend that suffocating the economic mechanisms that creates prosperity for individuals in Canada will result in more dependency on government until other people’s money runs out!
Then what? The remedies such as more money printing and subsequent inflation are even more suffocating and punishing!

If parents can't afford a couple of peanut butter sandwiches for a childs lunch.... thats a problem. Food prices are up, but we can still feed our kids im sure

Sadly not everyone can provide lunches. That is why there USE to be a lunch program in several schools. Don't know if there is anymore as my Kids are now Adults. You can put $$ on the fact that the Liberals will fail at this as well, just like they have everything else

What a clown show. You can't eat cash for long. Eventually, it runs out. Try investing in sustainable programs and producers...oh wait your to short sighted for that.

Okay - school boards around the world have good lunch programs such as Italy and Sweden etc. Lunches for kids - great! Cuts back on the food bill for home. But that's not the case. JT taxes us all into poverty. We can't afford a lot and lunches are a huge food bill on their own in most families that are struggling. We have the breakfast clubs in schools, who funds them? The province? We also have food programs such as the Lunch Lady, that serves up lunches and then we have Sub Days, Pizza Days, Hot Dog days at schools as well. They are pricy unfortunately. The federal government could say to the provinces - here is some money for school boards to have their lunch programs. 1. Where is the money coming from? 2. How will schools get kitchens to cook for 300 - 500 kids every day? 3. High Schools already have cafeterias that are outsourced to food service companies that are hired by contract with the school board. 4. How will this fix hunger? Cut prices? Have decent food portions?
There is sooo much that needs to be addressed and figured out. The NDP should have asked for input from the Conservatives, Bloc and Greens to see what their ridings think or how would it affect then if anything. Then they could have come together - came up with a plan - take this plan back to their ridings - get a consensus of what is a good or bad idea - tweak it - come back to the table and look at it again - present this to the liberals and say "here's the plan - Canadians have spoken" - then vote on it - as everyone would have had input. BUT NO JUGHEAD and JT swept this away from everyone and kept it hush hush and the conservatives will vote it down because they were not involved in the decision making. This is why Canada is the hell-hole it is today. Inclusive means nothing but divisiveness.

Instead of buying food for their children , these irresponsible parents use the food money to buy cell phones , Laptops , flat screen TV's , junk food at fast food restaurants , a new car , rack up their credit cards at the Casino's etc .....My wife and I made sure our children came first , they had lots of healthy food to eat , and new clothes to wear etc ... we never depended on Government handouts , or charity .. we paid our own way .. How ??? we both got well educated, good paying jobs and didn't have children until we had the financial means to support them

You raised your kids years ago, the world is vastly different than when you had kids. You should take a serious few minutes to educate yourself of rents, interest rates over the top and parents losing their homes before you blame parents instead of the government and their insane taxes. Or are you a Justin lover?

Well, I get where you're coming from but today's world is absolutely NOT what we had. I was born right after WW2 and there was no money for hardly anything. As we grew up it got better but we kept the same ideology when it came to spending. Our kids today do not have any kind of choices..they have been pushed into a corner not of their fault. Everything you see right now is because of an evil and out of control government who owns the very news outlets that I assume you are still watching. Please avail yourself of more alternate media journalism since I see you on this very good platform. There are a very good ones out there and they are not paid to hide anything.
