My girlfriend's family has a nice 93 acre property. The upper part is pines, hardwood/young growth below, and a big ag field to the left. The deer the come down from the pines and hug the woods along the ag field. The corner of the pines/wood is deer highway and it's great hunting!

I find a lot of areas just like that when I am shed hunting. One specifically is at the top of a stone quarry. It drops off about 30 feet straight down. And I find sheds in their every year. The crop fields are about 300 yards away.Time to really check it out.Have a couple trees already picked out.

Unrelated deer question for you. I planted an acre of iron and clay peas about a month ago. Great growth and great looking, however the deer arent touching it. This is the first ever planting of iron and clay peas in at least 2100 acres of my land and unused county land next to me. Not sure the deer know they can eat it. Should i just put some corn or something out for them to get them in the peas?

Jeff, what is your thoughts of placing a vertical licking branch on PUBLIC LANDS (big woods) in one of these funnels or pinch points? I’ve watched probably 100 or so of your incredibly educational videos and don’t recall ANY mentioning placing a vertical licking branch on public lands. I’d really like to know your thoughts on this because I’m a big public land hunter.

So where I’m hunting at, I have open/overgrown field, hard woods with River, and then clear cut about 60 yards through the hard woods. Would this be a funnel type to add in a stand location? Open land is on one side of the area loggers couldn’t cut due to natural spring/creek running straight through heading to the river

Two comments. 1- you have said in the past, you don't want to see nice bucks this time of year. That means they won't be there in the fall. But your seeing bucks on camera.
2- What about hunting in fence rows in flat ag land? (NW Ohio).....

Fencerows are great for the rut, especially if hidden and not too long of a stretch.
