E scouting Appalachian mountain country without having the chance for boots on the ground before you're going to be hunting it. Just narrowing down to what you'd hunt. Happy to send you an area so you're not giving up your own personal spots
Perfect timing; I've been staying out of the bottoms due to the amount of acorns up top. Yesterday evening, I decided to drop to the bottom and found 15-20 historical rubs., I think I found a nice rut location, also as you were talking about thermal hubs, I noticed one that leads into the bottom as well. Ill defiantly have to give that a look. This video helped tie everything together, thank yoU!
I am in Potter County in the Galeton and Lyman Run area. Been bowhunting since Monday. Have not seen one deer.hunted ridge tops, bottoms, and slopes and just today found a scrape. Found a few very small rubs. I hunt West Va. and Va mountains for 32 years. Have the skills. But I cant find anything here the deer on feeding on. There are not any oaks, mostly black cherry, maple, birch, a few beech. Dont see any browse except in one spot in a hollow. Set up twice there., difficult due to thermal drop in evening. I will be at the scrape I found this afternoon. There are deer here. What do they eat??? Have only one day left of my week long hunt. Thanks!
I hunt a lot of areas that don’t have oaks and it’s tough unless you find logging cuts that have a lot of browse. Some beech trees have been producing really good this year. I bumped a big buck under a beech tree yesterday. Last day or so, action has picked up. If you don’t have any luck on the scrape I would pull out and go to an area with oaks or logging cuts. Hope that helps! Good luck!!!
I used to hunt that area near Denton Hill, some big deer but low numbers. I started hunting a little further west Allegheny, pockets of high density near private areas. Good luck!!!
@@BeauMartonik Thanks Beau! No luck on the scrape. This area, has very few oaks according to DCNR guy I talked to. He does the deer study program for game commission. Said same thing, go to the recent clearcuts. He showed me on map. Going there in the morning.
Thanks for pumping these out, Beau! Super useful information.
Glad you like them!!!
