episode 2 of bertie finding ways to mention his child acting career
BERTIE REVIEWS PATRICK STEWART'S MACBETH COMING NEXT WEEK
Bertie Gilbert stop sleeping on chuckie
and were all here for it
@blip blop blip blop blip blop
@@BertieGilbert1 We had to watch this in our A-level english class lol
Can’t believe you baited me into thinking you’d talk about horrible histories
You're showing your age if you think that was an example of this era of a 2000s show really
@@DavidWorley94 pretty sure the op was referring to how Bertie was an actor on Horrible Histories as a kid
Joanne I FORGOT ABOUT THAT!!
@@wolfania he shows a clip of it at the start, how do you forget?
Yeah I LOVED that show - can still do all the kings and queens of England off the top of my head
me waiting for the cbbc section because my parents couldn’t afford the extra channels hhhhh
damn freeview anyone
Hell yes
My parents were the same, but my grandparents had Sky, so some of my fondest memories are the excitement of getting to watch Cartoon Network at their house whenever we visited them.
same thoooo 😂
Ó Cúin my Gran has had Sky since 2009 but only pays for the Freesat channels so I only gained Pop and CITV going to her house in the 00s. Don’t know if anyone else remembers CITV went on and off Freeview as a channel a bit in the 00s.
i remember when i first joined facebook when i was 11, there was a page about how the Come Outside dog had died and i posted on the page about how that couldn’t be true, and the owner personally messaged me to tell me it had. i’ve been scarred since.
This is singlehandedly the best comment ever 😂
😭😭😭😭
As a country, we don't talk enough about Come Outside.
Rose Miles when he started to sing the theme song, I just started crying.
my god seeing the shiny show has just unlocked a hidden part of my memory that I didn't know I had
Anna Woods same
it looks so funny now omg
I only watched cbeebies and CBBC when I was younger because my dad didn't want to pay for Disney channel or anything like that
Ahahah I relate so much
Sameeeee but we enjoyed our 2 channels didn’t we, blessings be upon CBBC for getting us through this difficult time
SAME. And I absolutely loved it, too:)
my parents had it but refused to let me get into it after my brother's barney phase
my mum always told me we couldn’t get it where we live, but now I’m older I think she just didn’t want to spend the money😂
Bertie I can’t believe you missed out CITV with classics such as Jungle Run, My Parents are Aliens, Art Attack, Bernards Watch, Tots TV, Rosie and Jim and Grizzly Tales for Gruesome kids! This was a great video btw I didn’t want it to end
holy shit thank you for reminding me art attack exists. guess i know how i'm spending my evening
God I hated grizzly tales for gruesome kids because my sister watched it so much 😭
Jungle run is the best thing that has ever been on tv change my mind
FUCKING JUNGLE RUN OMG 💞
And Bratz 😂🥰
the disrespect did he just skip the last airbender? hands down the best cartoon nickeoldeon ever made
I was just about to say
Very much past his time. Like, the last air bender is so recent that it’s barely a childhood shoe for anyone
@@wyaakk past his time? Sure you could stay that but correct me if im wrong but wasnt bertie around 8-10 years during the first (and when it was at It's peak) time the show ran. It may be recent but Bertie was certainly in the demographic.
@@wyaakk the last airbender starting running before icarly and phineas and ferb!
Beth I’m Bertie’s age and watched/loved avataar!
that Bear in the Big Blue House ending literally made me cry and I'm not at all kidding
I miss that show 😭
I saw it live in theatre lol.
@@xAbbieCx13 you what now 😭🤩
@@conorbennett16 Yeah, I don't remember it at all but I know it happened. 😂
@@xAbbieCx13 i've never been more jealous of anyone in my entire life than I am right now
bertie: what were they saying the theme song for phineas and ferb?
me yelling at my phone: pAiNtING a cOntINenT
Still to this day, at the age of 23, I always sing the Bear in the Big Blue House's goodbye song every time I have to leave my friends, and they always join in. I hope I never lose that part of me that still feels like a kid.
Thanks Bertie!
Haha that's crack up 😂
Cartoon Network will suddenly see a 1000% viewership increase of a group they didn’t expect to be their target audience
Thank the lord above someone else remembers the Shiny Show. I was starting to think it was a weird fever dream.
I feel like I understand Bertie's soul on a profound level after watching this . . .
18:55 throwback to when my sister was so enthralled by the bar of soap episode in Come Outside that we drove around every single supermarket in a 10 mile radius to find the same damn soap.
It wasn't even nice soap
IT WAS WORTH IT BECAUSE SHE SAW HOW IT WAS MADE
I only remembered best of friends when you talked about the sweets
The ghostly fox omg me too!!! The video clip of them eating it gave me some brazy flashbacks
the ‘come outside’ song literally brings tears to my eyes, it makes me so sad😭
How dare you not mention Pingu, the god of kids tv. Disgraceful.
Tut tut tut. Annoying.
Pingu premiered in the 80s
Brum??? Postman pat? Bananas in pyjamas?! Also Bear in the Big Blue House should've got its own section, that was a classic
Wb legendary citv shows ?? Horrid Henry, jungle run, my parents are aliens, dennis the menace ??
YES YOU JUST SAID ALL MY FAVOURITES THEY WERE THE BEST
Omg my parents were aliens i LOVED
My parents are aliens was the best omg
I think Dennis the menace was on CBBC.
i'm english and i always had problems with painting a continent too lol , i always thought they were saying cotton
yeah i thought it was cotton nerd
i feel like it’s a reoccurring theme in phineas and ferb for them to have weird lyrics and saying them unclearly lol. i’m polish and i had a problem with the same part of the song. i was singing gibberish quite a lot (absolutely love the show though)
@@esmevs same 😂😂😂
this made me genuinely a bit emotional with nostalgia - particularly the part abt come outside :’) such wholesome memories ... also !!! i completely forgot abt best of friends so thanks for that obscure reminder i guess?? and dude cmon... you’re not getting away with not mentioning horrible histories. literally god tier level of cbbc shows
I LEGIT CRIED WHEN YOU MENTIONED COME OUTSIDE. OH MY GOD SO MUCH RESEARCH MUST BE DONE
*literally my whole childhood:*
“OMG YOU LOOK LIKE TRACY BEAKER”
bog off
you're nearly 6 years older than me and somehow we had the exact same childhood. did you play the online games as well??? cory in the house bobble head run and suite life pizza party??? damn i miss being 8
Same, why did I recognize all this shit??
@@charlotter949 either bertie peaked too early or we were ahead of our time
i didn’t need to be reminded of bobble head run
tv was beautifully static for six short years
pizza party was my LIFE
thought it was 'painting a cotton nerd' for YEARS like i remember actually asking my dad what a cotton nerd was
that vine of the guy remembering lizzie mcguire ... the first time i ever got drunk i watched the vine and laughed at it for over an hour. just watching it over and over. the realization in his voice and eyes. 'lizzie mcguire!!!!!!!!!!!'
I feel like the naughties was a really great time to be a child not just for these sick TV shows but also for the music, s club 7, blue, steps, the ketchup song! They just don't make real cheese like it anymore
this video idea is INCREDIBLE & the execution was WONDERFUL! i just loved it wow had to share!
i remember one of the prizes on best of friends was an entire cinema screen TO YOURSELF and that made me so jealous of whoever got that prize, but tbh now i just go to the cinema at 10am on a wednesday and i get the screen to myself so....
did you really talk about cbbc without addressing RAVEN?
This was so comfortable to watch, and seeing all these shows and going back in time was mind boggling like wow. i was an entirely different person back then. but at the same time i am still that same person??? so weird but cool, im very grateful for it.
nothing quite like starting to cry when the come outside theme starts playing
The blue sweets in Best of Friends have filled me with a sea of nostalgia.
cbbcies kids show writer rooms were apparently a coke fest. im not surprised
that''s incredible thank you for blessing this comment section
Bertie Gilbert it was encouraged for creativity reasons 😂 I read an article a while ago
it's simple, the president from Cory In The House is a alternate universe Green Party candidate
Hand on heart, I thought I'd made up "best of friends" in a dream
I miss this kind of RUclips calm/ cozy reflection & analysis
Wow just rewatching that small Chuckie clip about his mother has me tearing up. I remember bawling at that when I was younger.
he's the sweetest boy
Recess is my absolute fave kid show, I’ve seen every episode like a billion times
You recovered a blocked memory with "Best of Friends"! This makes me feel so nostalgic...
cubix was such a staple of my childhood. At my primary school they'd have a film fair every so often where you could borrow a film and take it home to watch it. And every single time my brother and I would rush to find the cubix dvd so we could watch it again. I still remember the opening theme song word for word to this day! :)
I do understand "not envying kids nowadays". Not just in television sense but in games and such as well. I remember playing rpg games that had all their files open, so me and my friends would change things here and there to our liking. And eventually start writing ideas of our own to try to make a game. Using paint to create our pixeled characters and many other things. We are one of the new generations that grew up entirely in a technological age, yet I think we(at least me and my friends) saw it as a much more creative thing.
Love to see a follow up cause I'm sure you couldve mentioned more. I only really watched cbbc/cbeebies, citv and some channel called pop because my family only had free view although I'd often go to my cousins and watch some of those other channels
Ah Pop... And Pop Girl, Tiny Pop and Kix. I think those channels still exist. Can't tell you the amount of times I watched reruns of Timothy Goes to School.
@Oll Yessss, I forgot about it!
We were both born in 1997, so we had the same childhood pretty much 😂
Bertie you’ve absolutely made my day. Can’t wait to get out of class later and watch this.
We used to watch come outside every Friday morning in school when I was 5, the whole school was mourning when pippin died
Loved this! Some more of my favourites were Moptatop's Shop, Chute, Brum, Johnny and The Bomb, The Queen's Nose, The Sarah Jane Adventures and The Ghost Hunter.
childrens shows have such a lack of creativity nowadays and that UPSETS ME
theyre all like 'whiny kids with some talent do talent and whine about ####relatable teen issues'
@@fatalimmortality801 it's important covering teenage issues but my God the creativity is like GONE it's always the same shit being regurgitated again for every kids sitcom like whaatt
Gravity falls, adventure time, Steven universe? I mean, it seems that more care and effort has been put into kids shows that just wasnt there before
I wouldn't say there, to be honest, no matter what time where it is the early 2000's or today there have always been really good shows and really bad shows. Thing is there's gonna be good stuff and bad stuff in whatever generation so nothing has really changed it's more evolved in some way.
@@mc.gemstone I agree there will always be good stuff and bad stuff. Shows are just tending to get repetitive. I'm just saying this from watching TV with my relatives and I just know as a kid I would have no enjoyed the shows they watched. Especially for sitcoms they're great but now it's just the same stories being repeated( maybe I'm wrong) that's from what I can see anyway. I'm mainly talking about the Disney channel. Nickelodeon and CN are THRIVING especially Cartoon Network ( I love u cartoon Network never change)
I got so incredibly nostalgic when you started talking about Come Outside. It was such a positive thing at such a young age
COME OUTSIDE IS A MASTERPIECE, IT WAS MY FAVOURITE THING IN THE WORLD AS A KID
"Call the poliice!" I was so scared LMAO
nobody:
absolutely no one:
the shiny show crack puppets: sHiiiNyyyy
2:59 Powerpuff Girls is created by Craig McCracken, who also created Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
Oh my god. Best of bloody friends. I've had a memory for years of a program where kids eat sweets and get blue tongues and I could never remember what it was from. So thank you for bringing it back!
this video is legit just a nostalgia atomic bomb and i love it
in the words of dear sweet basil - BOOM BOOM
Oof a wash of nostalgia over 23 year old me at seeing bear in the big blue house and the shiny show.....you forgot storymakers! I always hated the blue cow story haha
EXCUSE ME? Drake and Josh taught us so much! Like how family isn’t just about who’s born from the same parents as you! Watching them grow together as brothers......... please never disrespect Drake and Josh like that ever again
And who Oprah was lmao
Your wee smile singing the Come Outside theme song. Golden. What a show.
I saw the basil brush live show when I was younger ahah memories
HE DID A LIVE SHOW!?!
Pocoyo deserved some attention
I like how he acted like this isn't scripted and he just kind of knew what he was talking about while knowing exactly what he was talking about, he's good at this
Finally. Nobody remembers Best of Friends but I do! I liked that. They also had one where children went on cute dates and did challenges. I think it was called Crush? I mourn television from our childhood (I’m 23) because it tackled social issues in a sensitive way, without sugaring them up to protect children from the darker aspect of being a teenager or shoehorning social issues into things the way they do now. It was just the right balance of aware and innocent.
"It's excruciating, it's a hateful show... and I loved it!"
Loved watching this on premiere! ❤️
Would love to see a video about your experience working on Macbeth!
Im 22 years old and i still rewatch these shows and cartoons sometimes just so i could feel whole as how i felt as a kid again
cbeebies was my childhood!!! space pirates, balamory, tinkabilla, tweenies, something special, come outside, tracy beaker,,,, my sister n i still sings the themetunes to them bc they were just so! good!!
also bear in the big blue house has such a special place in my heart. it's so wholesome and lovely.
also, 'the mommy button' changed the way i viewed planes forever
YES BERTIE CONTENT +THE BEST CARTOONS 💕
wow here i was happily reminiscing and then chuckie talking about his mom brought me to actual tears
Best of friends!! I’d completely forgotten about that programme. Great video
you cant just say bamzooki and go
They’re saying “painting a continent” in the phineas and ferb theme song
Hello there Bertie. I was feeling absolutely terrible this evening, and the thought of a young, blonde blossoming child actor being handed a hip-hop mixtape on Hollywood Boulevard has cheered me up so much, can’t tell you. Thank you for putting in the effort to make this :)
I love the recurring Doctor Who joke that the Master, an evil alien time traveller who hates humans, finds shows like the Clangers and the Teletubbies amusing, even the universe's most insane, deranged, evil criminal murderer can't deny the charm of British kids TV.
Also, I remember the best of friends. That shit traumatized me as a kid. The betrayals, the plot twists, the INTRIGUE. second to none.
I was ment to have a Basil Brush cake by my Grandmother didn’t want us to by it, so she made it herself. I recently saw pictures of said cake, and good god it’s horrifying.
Young Dracula mate, fimbles, 64 zoo lane, mona the vampire
Holy mother of God fimbles
Young Dracula.....oh the haircuts
I love this video. People just talking wholesomely and passionately about nostalgic things they love is my favourite RUclips genre.
i loved come outside up until the episode where she got stuck in the cupboard, the chip pan caught fire and she was stuck in a burning building. that *scarred* me.
My god didn't even realise I'd repressed the shiny show until now ahh
can't wait for some wholesome content!
devon holding a boombox outside your window playing his latest mix tape would’ve been a better sell
The Sarah Jane Adventures was the peak of my childhood
*gets flashbacks of Jakers, the old 3D show about the pig that was just on constantly*
did you mean Jakers?
@@kiranheath2726 OMD yes thankyou
@@closiewoo5658 HAHAHA no worries 😂
The Shiny Show was buried deep in my memories until now
Wow I really felt the sizzle of the synapse that was reconnected when you talked about ‘Best friends’
What a nostalgic whirlwind of emotions your video took me through. Low key cried in my cubicle during the Mother’s Day Chuckie clip but then jammed tf out to the Bear in the Big Blue House outro 😤
can we have a full come outside cover please Bertie?
“I don’t want to see Tommy Pickle with hair” for some reason this tickled me and I had to pause the vid and laugh like a fool - I HATED Rugrats grown up lmao 😂
I never understood how Bamzuki worked but that’s what made it even greater
As told by Ginger was AMAZING on Nick, and still holds up really quite well! Recommend
These shows remind me of my childhood . I was born in 2003 and these were the HOLY GRAILS
How can you mention CBBC and not talk about Horrible Histories?!
THE OPENING CLIP SPOKE VOLUMES
Me and my friends were on Best of Friends and it was sick, made us spit the sweets out though. Was a bit disappointed x
this episode had so many memories. all 1995-99 kids will love
The Weekenders was best show and continues to go unrecognized.
Honestly disappointed, how could you pass Nick shows without addressing Avatar the last airbender
alas, i've never seen the last airbender. i know it's apparently phenomenal and i will watch it, just can't give an informed opinion yet! MY APOLOGIES!!
@@BertieGilbert1 I'm sorry on my behalf, but will be waiting for you to see it. I don’t know if it will give the excitement without the nostalgia but I can say it is a great show to watch nonetheless.
O my god, I miss AtLA! Great show ❤️ -Korra's good to, but nothing beats the original
Omg when I was like four I travelled to London with my parents and we stayed there for a month. I got to see so many of your shows on bbc and I loved come outside!! I didn’t understand any english but i really liked the polka dotted plane and learning about random things. Also there was this show with two fluffy balls that lived in a vacuum cleaner or something? I loved that shit.
outraged that Raven didn’t get a mention ?? strange scottish man in feathers baiting children against swinging axes and faceless men in the pursuit of gold rings, absolute children’s classic
