- This weekend I played the early online test of a new asymmetrical 3v4 game based on the Texas Chainsaw films, and it was terribly fun. This game does a fantastic job of feeling like a typical slasher movie (especially if you edit in some tense music afterwards!). We'll also upload some gameplay from the other side tomorrow!

This game is indeed very cinematic. The victim role hooked me,stabbing grandpa is amazing. My experience with elderly care has come in really handy.
You should go watch Scott Jund, I think he managed to stab grandpa about 7 times in one match.

Seeing Otz guide the Connie so well in a calming and encouraging manner really shows his past experience as a 911 Operator. That made for a hella entertaining watch

The biggest difference here between Texas Chainsaw and DBD is that the victims have to turn OFF the generators
the biggest difference is that this game is way more well made regarding its foundation and variety when it comes to gameplay. not everyone is focusing on doing generators, making the availability of using different builds and it actually changing your gameplay up entirely EXTREMELY vast. dbd gives you several perks, yet you have to complete gens or you just won’t win. this incentivizes players to stick to a small percentage of the entire perk variety (gen perks or chase perks). notice how all the most unique perks in the game are unused due to their irrelevancy in actual gameplay. imagine the use of the perk “diversion” being a perk in the TCM game. they are completely different games in nearly every aspect. BHVR made a game that is unbalanceable, and is also hard to work with due to their very thin foundation. also, the TCM game has had a better reaction from players that dbd couldn’t even dream of having.
finally killers have to work on gens like the rest of us

@@MCDLXXXVIII_ as well as vhs and every other game that died before releasing? i will be glad if this game can coexist with dbd so there is some competion between them, but without other killers/maps it will die really fast. i can see them making new maps, but new killers are very unlikely to be added.

Unfortunately I think it'll probably be like the Friday the 13th game. It'll be fun, but there's not a whole lot they can do for new content, so I can't imagine it'll last as long as games that have quarterly DLCs or seasons

Hey Otz, or not Otz, whichever.
I was the Hitchhiker chasing you in that first game. The game is fantastic, and I hope you continue to play more of it once it fully releases.
I racked up over 40 hours over the course of the test starting from the second day because I was lucky enough to have a long weekend. Safe to say I'm addicted. Them having a single button to requeue and get into the next match almost immediately is very dangerous.
A few tips for people who read this about mechanics for the game that aren't apparent right away:
You only have so much blood as a Victim, indicated by the heart icon. The lower the red gets, the less blood you have left. At the very start, you are not bleeding and are in perfect health; if you escape from the restraints quickly, you'll cut your hands on the ropes and begin to lightly bleed.
If you escape from the restraints slowly, you will not bleed, but may give Leatherface some more time to find you, which is far worse a fate.
If you choose to play the slow game and exit the restraints slowly, and avoid being hit for the entire game, it's possible to leave with all of your blood.
If your heart is black, that means you have no more blood to bleed. The next time your health reaches 0, you will bleed out and die or be executed if the attack would do more damage than your available health. In addition, you will take twice as much damage from bleeding effects.
Each method of being damage has different values for how much it causes you to bleed. In order of strength:
1: Leatherface's chainsaw "Maims" Victims, which is a strong bleed. If he hits you with an overhead hit, you not only take a huge amount of health damage, but also will be at maximum possible bleed, which will only slow down if you manage to heal over 50% of your health. For Leatherface, the overhead hit can be used on already injured Victims to execute them outright, while on healthy Victims it can be used to bleed them out into the Incapacitated state, which allows him to either choose to immediately execute them right there, or carry them for a special environmental execution at a butchering table that grants double experience. During the test, experience had no use, but in the real game it will be worthwhile for Leatherface to kill with the environment.
2: Hitchhiker's traps and jumping through windows. Both of these also apply strong bleeds like Leatherface's chainsaw hits. If you jump from a window on the second story, you'll also take even more direct damage, which might leave you Incapacitated, or even dead if you are out of blood.
3: Hitchhiker's attacks. Though he may not deal a lot of direct damage, his weapon causes mild bleeding, which is not a lot, but can stack up with more hits into an Extreme bleed as if you were hit by an overhead Leatherface hit. It takes about four hits to cause Extreme bleeding.
4: Cook's attacks. His weapon does more direct health damage than Hitchhiker's, but applies a barely noticeable bleed. It's a bludgeon, thus you're not really getting cut up as much.
5: Jumping down a well. Like Cook, it does bludgeon damage and thus doesn't cut you up, but you'll still bleed a little.
6: Escaping Restraints Quickly. This was already explained; you will take no direct damage, but will begin to bleed as if you were hit by Cook or jumped down a well. It can overall lower your life expectancy, so decide whether you're going for a short or long-term escape very quickly.
Once you've begun to bleed at all, you only have a set amount of time to live, as bleeding can never fully be stopped, only slowed down to the weakest level.
There are also ways to stun the Family for more brazen escape attempts. These are:
1: Slamming a door in the face of a Victim or Family Member. This will make either party have to get up in a long animation. Against the Family, it also breaks their stamina and forces them to recover before they can move. This can be used by Family Members on each other and Victims as well.
2: Stabbing a Family Member in the back with a bone knife. If you are behind a Family Member with a bone knife, you can stab them to temporarily stun them. This will also drain their stamina and force them to recover. This consumes the knife. Be aware, that if you attempt this while another Family member is able to freely hit you, you can be *executed* on the spot regardless of your health.
3: This is for Leland only. His power allows him to shoulder check a Family Member, knocking them over if they don't have a strong frame. Leatherface and Johnny (not in the test) have strong frames and will only be stunned for a short duration by this. This ability can also be used on Leatherface while he is carrying a dying Victim to save that victim, restoring a small amount of their health based on how close they were to dying, and potentially giving them a chance at a last second escape; if you do this, Leatherface will also have his Stamina be drained and will need to recover before he can move again.
4: Grappling. This is a last-ditch effort to avoid death by fighting back against the Family. During this time, both parties will have to button mash. If Victims win the trade, they will stun the Family member and drain their stamina, as well as avoid taking damage from the attack. If the Family member wins the trade, they will damage the Victim, if this would be enough damage to kill the Victim they instead Execute them on the spot. If it is not enough damage to kill the Victim, the Family member will still end up stunned and drained of Stamina. During a Grapple, if another Family member attacks you, you will be *executed* on the spot regardless of your health state, so it is not to be used to bully low strength Family members like Cook. In the full game, we'll be able to adjust stats, and Strength determines how easy winning the mashing minigame is for you.
While grappling, all Family Members can see you and the grappled Family Member's aura in red.
5: Jumping out of a Hiding Spot. This one was used the least because people didn't even realize they could do it. If you loudly exit a Hiding Spot with a Family Member directly in front of you, you will stun them based on their frame. Leatherface and Johnny will only be stunned for a short while but have their stamina drained, while Cook, Sissy, and Hitchhiker will all be knocked down and have stamina drained. This is to be used as a sneak attack, and not like Head-on in Dead by Daylight, as if the Family Member attacks as you pop out, you will be *executed* on the spot regardless of your health. This also makes a loud noise and will let all of the other Family Members know where you are. Hiding spots have two actions for exiting them, stealthily or loud. This is the loud option.
Hopefully these tips help people when the game comes out. Once again, fun playing with you Otz, or not Otz.

Are those instances of getting executed on the spot intentional? I mean for the ones where you'll die no matter how much health you have. Is it like in DBD where you leave yourself open to getting grabbed from full health when working on a gen or totem?

yeah the players of DBD is what making DBD a competitive game not intense cat and mouse game like TCM game that are about to be release in august 2023. i stopped playing dbd after the game become so competitive and less intense, and more stressful to play as both survivors and killers.

I like how they've balanced speed vs. safety - yeah, you can get the items / do the objective quicker, but do you really want to alert the killers? And the threat is omnipresent, not only are there 3 killers, but you can't outrun all of them forever. Seems really tense, and the right way to do asymetric horror.
And you have an incentive to do stuff quickly because you will start bleeding out overtime, and killers can not only block out exits, but also upgrade grandpa to the point he can detect you even while still.
And if you choose to remain safe and do things slow you will eventually bleed out and die or be very vulnerable

I love the juxtaposition of otz' and scotts playstyle, otz being careful not to make a lot of noise and focused purely on escape, Scott bum rushing to stab grandpa 18 times in a single game, noise be damned

This game really had me on the edge of my seat! I was cheering when Connie made the last sprint for the gate and got out!
Just in that first minute:
Her quiet search speed is almost as fast as other character's fast/noisy search speed.
That's nuts.
This is why I love this game soo much it's about teamwork more than anything. i will say I was on edge seeing Connie escape.
The way you narrowly escaped hitchicker only for bubba to come out of nowhere and finish you off was insane! This game is unbelievably cinematic.
In this day and age, its rare to see a very high quality version of the build this early in its life.
Ok, I knew connie was good with the ability to be really quiet, but also beeing able to instantly open any look? Just stupidly powerfull
I know nothing about this game, but I mean it did seem her stamina drained so quickly and took a year to come back, otz basically had a perma full bar when he was playing the guy. Im guessing that guy maybe has stamina based abilities but still.

@@LanaIsUnderrated her thoughness is low to. She has the lowest hp and cannot tank much of the hit so she is the worst character in running and looping the family. So i guess its balance out
she is awful in chase and dies so easily. i think it is pretty balanced.
The first issue is how people are trying to make this a competitive game, when the devs on multiple occasions have said that they did not make this game with the intention of being competitive, rather, it is meant to be an atmospheric horror-thriller
Edit: top saying it's unfortunate that it happened to DBD, because Dead By Daylight was always meant to competitive, and it works better that way anyways

And THAT is why I didnt want DBD content creators playing these games. I like Otz but he was already saying that character will for sure need a nerf. They dont even wait for a game to go live before analizing everything and asking for nerfs, always making things comptetitive and worst, making it become a new DBD which the compettitive side of it ruined the game.
If a game is multiplayer pvp, people will always try to make it competitive.
That's just how multiplayer works.

My favorite part was Otz guiding that lost survivor. It was so amazing to see him genuinely trying to help a teammate who had lost their way and would have died without him. Even if they died it just amazing to see Otz being a amazing teammate

This is such a exciting game to watch, looks fun too! The end part were Otz helped the Connie girl escape was so fun, I forgot he was a 911 Operator before and it really shows how calm and concise he guided her though. Truely some unique content here. Totally awesome coincidence, but as of writing this comment, not Otz has exactly 911k subscribers lol.

I like the fact that once you're got you're got theres no second chance theres no hook meaning you cant rely on your friends to save you and be toxic to the killer since theres 3, basically you have to play smart waste time trying to show boat and you'll be left sailing down a river (what's left of you at least)

I think this game makes a really good job of making the focus of the survivors to stay hidden instead of trying to YOLO against the killer. Even loops are dangerous if the killers know what they are doing

This is a tech test, anything thats bugged or broken will be fixed by the devs. The whole reason for this tech test. This isnt a beta, more things will be added on release such as skill trees, perks, family members and victims and more maps. Reading some of these comments you would think people would do some research before just blurting out something without having knowledge of the game. The full game drops on August 18th and im out

That's how movie survivors survive, they have otz in your ear guiding you to safety (always thought it was unbelievable that they just magically know the way, but now that I witnessed behind the scenes, it's was otz all along)

seeing this game makes me miss f13 so much, but I am glad to see the same devs create something new that looks a lot more polished, while still having their visual charm (the animation work in particular is what made me realize it was the same people). I hope this game does decently well because they know how to make so damn fun games

I never want voice chat in DBD. I don't need 13 year olds screaming into the mic every time they're being chased, or sweaty dudes with 2K+ hours getting tilted because I didn't go down near them so they can get the flashlight save. No thanks.
@@N30K4L have you never played a multiplayer game before? It comes with the territory, sometimes you get chill teammates, sometimes you don’t. And the mute option exists for precisely what you said so what you said is a non-issue.

I love voice chats with friends but voice chatting with other ppl always sucks cuz ppl are just so toxic and mad for no reason except in tf2. Some people are cool tho

Trying to play dbd on console especially the killers you have to aim with mainly death slinger and trickster, and also the auto hit is just plain awful, and there is literally no counter to people 360ing on console.

Each victim already has their own perk in a way, but the devs have said that they will add more dbd-like perks in the future, insofar that you can put them on different characters.
I think every survivor has a specific perk/ability they can do. I think they have stats too so I think they'll be different but more or less the same from one another. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, each character will have like a skill tree that you unlock as you play!
survivors already have perks. their perk that highlight item is 3rd perk. their 1st perk is when a gate is opened, you see an aura. Their 2nd perk is when you are last victum standing, you see all 4 killers aura for 15 seconds. Family have perks as well but its harder to guess what they do. Only 1st family perk is obvious. the first perk for family is you have increased speed when you feed grampa. The other two perks are green perks and they look like passives.
The reason noise at the start is fine is because the victims get a head start on untying themselves vs when the Family starts their gameplay so spreading out as quickly as possible is a good strat

Otz is the only player to legitimately stay behind after escaping and guide someone while spectating them to escaping as well. most players would leave the match after escaping or maybe try to help for a minute then give up. Props to the other player for trusting Otz as well. Most people don't like someone talking to them in a stressful game lol
I'm loving the game because from all the videos and clips I seen, everyone communicates and works together so peacefully
I had so much fun with this technical test, especially considering how there’s barely any content compared to what the base game will have. I really hope this game catches on and serves as a nice “competitor”/alternative to DbD.

Ooooh my gosh guiding Connie at the end was soooo epic!!! So intense and satisfying.
Massive props to the music department for this game. The original movie mostly had more of an in-setting type of soundtrack, so only music was from radios and the like.
But this? Start to finish, you know the overall tone for any situation and it's not even repetitive.

This game really looks fun. And stressful! But also fun. Also, as many others have stated, the way Otz guided that Connie was *chef's kiss* so calm and supportive.
