Some advice for next paintjob: 1. Never paint over bondo, bondo will absorb the paint and cause “shrink back” which is the outline you see 2. Sand up to 220-320 and with 100 grit increments to remove sanding scratches before applying primer , anything lower will allow sanding scratches to be apparent in the paint 3. Before painting over primer sand primer with 600 to smooth the primer and address defects such as low spots , chips, sanding scratches. Etc 4.For consistency make sure to overlap correctly, keeping a consistent wet edge , also make sure pressure is consistent through out the coats, if pressure drops let compressor catch up before continuing.
Looks great for your first time and being done in your home garage. A sealer is a excellent choice for your next project and lay your paint down more wet than it was.
Nice job for your first attempt. The bondo ring that showed thru the paint can be eliminated by primer or a sealer before your base coat. We all have to start somewhere, It's a lot nicer than my first one. Each one you do gets better and better.
You need to primer body work then block it with 180 up to 320 / 400 wet. The ring up is shrink back when the paint soak into the bondo as the bond is porous.
When I painted my '53 Chevy pickup, I also left some old bondo repairs bare with no primer, they felt fine, but mine also left a outline of the repair even with 3 coats. It seems like the paint soaks into the bondo leaving the outline.
As long as you’re happy with it that’s all that matters. Laying down a polyester flowable putty or a few coats of quality 2k primer filler would be helpful. And a color like red is very transparent. Light gray sealer before topcoat would be helpful. Many tips and tricks you can pick up by watching others like wetting the floor or throwing a chain over the rear axle to ground the body helps prevent dust from landing on the paint. Good job for first time though.
You sprayed too dry. You needed to put down wetter coats so it dries more glossy. The orange peel was due to multiple dry coats. But hey like you say it looks great from a normal distance... I'd wet sand it with 800 grit and lay down 2 full wet coats. Great effort. 👍👍👍
Most people never make the effort to try it, you are one more step closer to perfection! Nice job!
Thank you kindly!
Hell the hard part was even trying to paint it yourself
Looks good for the 1st time 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Man that looks great
Thank you!
How did your air compressor do did it run a lot while painting
It did. But it kept enough pressure that I never had to stop and wait!
@@lex5.060 thanks

Yeah, I was confused by it as I watched many videos of guys painting right over bare bondo with no issues! Thanks for the comment!

Thank you kindly!
U need to seal over the bondo because it sucks it in
Thanks for the tip!
What size air compressor did you use?
I use to live in Southern Indiana close to Louisville
It’s a 60 gallon I think. 10.2 scfm or close to it. Seemed to do the job well!
“Up close you will see some interesting things “ 😂😂😂 great way of putting it bro 😂😂😂
Looks sounds amazing
Do mine 😅
Haha thanks!
Hi, well done. Did you use a guide coat when sanding?
Thank you very much! I did on the spots I added bondo or repaired meta but not over the whole car like I should have!
👍
