As another HUGE Smallville fan, this pilot BLEW me away. It sort of feels like what Smallville could have become after the "no tights, no flights" rule that show had. It's full of heart and hope and family. It feels nostalgic and fresh all at the same time. And yes, the budget is great and the effects are awesome, but for me it's this story that's got me 100% invested. I love seeing Clark and Lois being parents and also struggling with being parents. I love that the boys have their stereotypical quirks, but yet they're also fiercely protective of each other. I love that Ma Kent wants Clark to be a vulnerable, loving, and present man. That's such an important message for young (and old) men to see. To see the most powerful being in the universe also have emotions and the space to feel and express those emotions in a real and important way, is SO beautiful. I'm also very excited to have a portrayal of Lois Lane that isn't in need of constant saving and protection. I haven't loved a Lois Lane other than Erica Durance's for that very reason. She may not have the super powers, but she's no damsel in distress and she's just as much a hero in her own right. I'm so jazzed about this series!
Actually my thought was he’s from the future? He talks about having a history with this Kal-El, that doesn’t age like humans, plus if they really don’t want to make it necessary for viewers to watch all the convoluted Crises/Arrowverse stuff being from the future is far cleaner, no?

You are seeing Superman at two entirely different points in his life it's not fair to judge. Cavill is Superman for less than 2 years, this Superman has been around for a couple of decades. Of course he epitomizes Superman more. The idea with Cavill was to show you how he got to be this Superman. What lead up to it? How is he being molded by his experiences. He hadn't embraced his role in the world yet. It's the same Superman. It's like judging a book by only reading two chapters. Same with Batman. Bale and Affleck are the same Batman at different points. "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." Batman has lived long enough to become what he was fighting against. All Batmans are headed toward the dark path if given enough time. I feel like it's unfair to compare the two version, other than them being the same character. I love this show already. They do Superman really well, but I also love Superman that is just beginning and finding his place. There is room for both versions.
@@itsalwayssomething7490 You have a point. Now that you say it like that it makes sense. I keep forgetting Supes is kinda "old" here but tyler looks so young.

i honestly wasn't going to watch this show because i didn't know what to expect. but when your reaction vid came across my feed i figured i should watch it just to stay in the loop and now i don't regret it. by the end of the episode i was beaming from ear-to-ear; i've always loved superman and this was just such a fresh take on the story. great video guys!

100% blown away by this first episode. I'm right there with you guys, grew up on Smallville, same age as Clark on the show, and now as an adult I get to feel a little of the Smallville vibe through Jon and Jordan and Sarah, but I also get to relate to the more adult Lois and Clark. It's firing on all cylinders, I teared up multiple times for multiple reasons. Lex from an alt. universe coming to cause chaos is a great set-up/tease. I am HYPED for the rest of this season! Loved watching your reactions, have fun w/ the new WandaVision!
I have never been a big superman fan (comics wise) but I have enjoy the live action versions of it, the one thing I love is hearing people who love superman talking about it, loved this video
I love this show, I love the fact that they don’t let things dwell into the next episode like so many other shows how they actually discuss their problems. Even if it’s not solved they at least talked about it.
As someone a lot younger than you guys, this is my first viewing of a superman I actually like, his "my mum made it" was what i always thought superman was like growing up, i never watched the christopher reeves movies though
So Adam, level with us: in the thumbnail for this video, you totally positioned the logo to make it look like you're Superman, right? LOL You can do that every single week - GENIUS!
Y'all are my favorite reaction group so far and I agree with which characters you relate to as you grow up. Can't wait to watch the rest of your reactions!
Am I the only person that interpreted Captain Luthor, his tech and his conversation with Superman as showing us he’s from the future? His world being destroyed: Earth. His history with Kal-El: following in his ancestors (Jon Cryer Luthor) footsteps and dealing with Superman that can’t age & his super powered kids that could break bad if not cared for properly? Something about that Captain Luthor reveal reminds me of the end of Red Son where we see a time loop of “Krypton” actually being a colony of Earth & the empire that Luthor created. Curious if anyone else thought this?
I can’t believe this is a CW show. I’m happy to see this season is only 15 episodes, but that was only due to COVID. I really really hope they see the power in compact focused story telling. I don’t want to see something that feels special just turn into another bloated CW show.
No actually Berlanti & Helbing revealed that like Stargirl, Black lighting & Legends of tomorrow they will have 14 to 15 episodes. Which is a very good idea if you want to tell a good story.
“Thanks. My mom made it for me” is a line directly lifted from Superman For All Seasons. Beautiful comic, you can see this show has chosen the right comics to draw from.
Every single freaking clip I kept saying "the budget on this! holy shit!" they did such a clean sleek way better than supergirl. This is what I want every show to be. Like just keep him there no need for a crossover. I was so hesitant on this show. I did not follow any spoils and wow I am a fan right away.
I think this show just became my favourite CW show straight off the bat. If the writing continues to be this good that is, combined with a cinema level budget, I'm all good. And I was among those who had low expectations for this show, that itself might be the reason why I like it so much.
I was enjoying your reactions. Then you referenced Goof Troop and the Iron Giant, and made this whole thing even better. "I want this to be the Superman that Hogarth would watch, and show to the Giant." Preach it, man!!!
Had just finished watching the pilot episode and I honestly enjoyed the video and loved the outlooks from y’all. 🤗 I’m also curious about Captain Luthor as well.
New cast, but besides that, I can just pretend that all of the characters minus Clark, had their memories wiped somehow(who cares how) and this is _SMALLVILLE_ season 11. We've jumped forward 20 years into the future.
My theory is that Captain Luther is possibly a hero from a world where Superman was the evil. Explains why he is a captain. The ending was a cool touch as Superman lost their battle, but goes home with a family and a happy ending with sunset. While luthor goes back to his ship all alone, in the middle of nowhere In the mountains. The score when he was walking on the snow was a very sad lonely tone. I think they’re gonna flesh him out
As a massive Marvel comics Spider-Man reader, huge fan of The Flash, and me working in the film industry as a Cinematographer... I loved this episode and genuinely looking forward to the next episode. Especially from a cinematography, storytelling and fan service standpoint. Goddamn it was good. Never thought I would say that about a Superman outside of JLU animated series.
Cant lie the scene with martha hit hard. Didn't remember she was supposed to die in first episode and it was the first anniversary of my own mother passing. But damn was that perfect. That scene and "Thanks! My mom made it for me." With 100% sincerity was what sold me totally on the writing for Clark.
They are possibly doing the Star Trek Kelvin timeline story with Luthor being like the Romulans looking for revenge. Looking forward to the next episode.
That's not technically the case. Its obvious that this version of Lex Luthor is from an alternate Earth PRE-Crisis On Infinite Earths. And just like we saw on Supergirl and on Batwoman certain individuals from destroyed universes got dropped onto Earth-Prime when it was newly created.
I just noticed. Jordan is like clark kent on Smallville series. He now has power alongside with super father and watch him grewup controlling his power by help of a father. Heck he even dating Lana's daughter
I loved how they gave us a goofy ass early Superman and a very Christopher Reeves-eque portrayal of Clark starting the The Daily Planet. Then giving us the more seasoned and adult Clark/Superman all in 10 minutes. Tyler Hoechlin is a legit great Superman at this point and he is in the running for being my favorite of all time. I loved that they used a PT Cruiser(with some questionable CGI to make it Green) as the car Early Superman stops from crashing. A car meant to look like a retro 30's style and it fits the time period cause it puts him being active in at least 2001 or so which means he's been Superman to the world for about 2 decades. Also, that early costume was awesome. I thought it was going to look silly but it actually fit really well. As for Captain Luthor. I'm of the opinion that while they may not mention it out right, this is defintiely post-crisis Earth-1(or is it Earth- Prime?) and this is a version of Lex that managed to escape the crisis and wound here cause it was the first of the universes to be brought back. IIRC they also all beleive that the Multi-verse is gone completely and that this is the only Universe left so that would support this alter-Lex from thinking he could go home. Also, I can't find evidence of it but I could have sworn I saw an Elseworlds like story where it was Earth that was destroyed and Lex's parents sent him to Krypton to be saved as the Last Son of Earth(I do know there is another comic with this same name but it's different then what I'm thinking). Baby Lex is raised by Jor-El(I think, maybe it's Zod) but being a human on Krypton he can't survive so a suiit is made to help him live on Krypton. As Lex grows up he adds more and more abilities to the suit allowing him to have Superman-like abilities. All of that lines up with the Lex we see here. However, I can't find any evidence that this storyline ever actually existed so no idea where it came from. Anyways, I'd love it if it turned out that "Captain Luthor" was this "Last Son of Earth" from an alternate Krypton who blames Kal-El for his universes demise. . . . It could also just be a Luthor from the future too. I dunno but I look forward to finding out who this is. I hope it's not a whole new Lex Luthor though cause I LOVE Jon Cryer as the main Lex Luthor in this Arrow-verse continuity. I also wonder if they due bring up the Luthor's if they'll stick with the Supergirl post-Crisis continuity because in this new universe, the Luthor's are seen as SAVIORS and are seen as FRIENDS to Superman & Supergirl by the public. Like, if Jon Cryer shows up and he and Clark have to act chummy around others until they're alone, I'm going to love that.
This show is gonna be good if the 1st ep has mid season finale, imagine the mid season and season finale. This show will be the 2nd coming of Smallville
Actually it’ll be another fourteen weeks. They gave them two additional episodes. I also read a report that they are leasing land where the show is filmed. The initial contract for the land is for up to three years. You know they built the town of Smallville for it
I think it's not Lex Luthor, I think it's an alternate universe Clark but he's been found by the Luthors instead of the Kents (Ultraman). The suit is only to protect him form the Kryptonite he was using on Superman.

The real villain is the ISP that put that freaking router up there for 1 old lady on a damn farm!? Criminal! lol
Brilliant pilot. I smiled throughout the entire episode. So excited to see more. 🦸♂️👌👏
Watched this show only because I saw you guys were reacting to it!! Never watched or knew anything about Superman growing up but I absolutely loved episode 1 of this show. Can’t wait for what’s to come and seeing your reactions along the way!
i honestly wasn't going to watch this show because i didn't know what to expect. but when your reaction vid came across my feed i figured i should watch it just to stay in the loop and now i don't regret it. by the end of the episode i was beaming from ear-to-ear; i've always loved superman and this was just such a fresh take on the story. great video guys!
that "i'm going back to that router" line you pulled was so perfectly timed I cracked up I had to clap couldn't help myself it felt like the right reaction because you deserve applause... btw anyone getting man of steel vibes from the special effects i'm wondering if it's the same team who worked on man of steel!
This is the reaction I’ve been waiting for! Seeing you 3 who are in the business being giddy got me excited. Keep up the great work!
Great reaction! I'm soo in on Superman & Lois! Its gunna be a crazy fun ride
I have never been a big superman fan (comics wise) but I have enjoy the live action versions of it, the one thing I love is hearing people who love superman talking about it, loved this video
Johnathan kent is my new favourite character in the arrowverse
i love the sound effect you add to cover up curse words, makes me laugh every time
This was really everything I ever wanted in a Superman series. EVERYTHING.
I already enjoyed the episode but you guys took the excitement up a level.
I have never seen Adam sooo happy!! He is the most reactive in this reaction
In this house, we stan the Man of Tomorrow.
@@HeroesReforged Wouldn't expect anything less from my Amigos!
After arrow I kinda let go of the arrowverse but this show is definitely looking pretty good so far
Hector with the Easssssseeee!!! Lol
I love this show, I love the fact that they don’t let things dwell into the next episode like so many other shows how they actually discuss their problems. Even if it’s not solved they at least talked about it.
Keep it up fellas!! Love watching ya'll!! I've been here before your HYPER RPG days. I am glad you have your own again! Don't get burned out, Adam!
20 years since Smallville came out. Thats crazy!!! So excited for this version of the Superman story and hope we get to have it for awhile (:
Excellent reaction boys. Felt you all the way!
You guys are awesome love your points of view and you all seems to have great values and I freakin respect that 🙏
Thanks!
Nice... You guys always make my day. Keep the videos coming.
Agree 100 % loved smallville and yeah dad superman is awesome. I teared up 3 times.
With my crappy connection I'd be pissed if my router was all the way up there, constantly having to reset 😂
Tyler H. Truly redeemed himself in the Arrrowverse.
Hi guys, will you be reacting to superman and lois soon?I love your reactions
Only on Patreon. They stopped posting it on RUclips out of nowhere.
I think this show just became my favourite CW show straight off the bat. If the writing continues to be this good that is, combined with a cinema level budget, I'm all good. And I was among those who had low expectations for this show, that itself might be the reason why I like it so much.
Great reaction, Boys! This show is giving me good, special vibes. I needed this.
I was enjoying your reactions. Then you referenced Goof Troop and the Iron Giant, and made this whole thing even better. "I want this to be the Superman that Hogarth would watch, and show to the Giant." Preach it, man!!!
Guys this was GOOOOOOOD what a surprise haha
I'm so excited to watch it with you guys!!!
Had just finished watching the pilot episode and I honestly enjoyed the video and loved the outlooks from y’all. 🤗 I’m also curious about Captain Luthor as well.
Was looking forward to this! 🙌🏼
I think they’re gonna flesh him out
"Is that an infinity stone?" Héctor, you are savage...
This show is soooo good!!! I'm geeking out with ya and its fun!
This blows every other Arrowverse show out of the water, it's absolutely fantastic. Hopefully the rest of season can keep the momentum going.
I freakin’ LOVED it so much.
Yo that might be true, because the computer only said "Captain Luthor" and not his full name. I like this theory
