Beat the game once. Load the game up again after you've beaten it, do the 3 dimensional Vortex areas in 1000 AD, 2300 AD, 12000 BC. After that, go to the End of Time and talk to Gaspar. He'll tell you about the "Time's Eclipse". GO to the bucket that leads to Lavos and choose "Time's Eclipse". And then you fight this boss.
"There are many worlds as there are many potentialities." I agree on the sadness of this scene but this is just one timeline. Schala can still be saved. I think in Chrono Cross, it is an alternate reality to Chrono Trigger and that's this one they are in right now where Lavos was defeated but the Time Devourer-Schala hybrid exists. Serge, Kid, Glenn and Guile are probably alternate realities of Crono, Marle, Frog and Magus.
Lucca's letter was leftover from the pre-production phase when Kato wrote Magus into the story. He opted against it, but left the letter in(maybe because everything else besides the reference to Janus was good anyway). Whenever people ask him about what Lucca meant, he's always quick to say, "Oops, well, it was from a time when I PLANNED Magus to be in there, but I just forgot about it and left it in anyway!!". I have no doubt Serge is just his own character, just like Crono was.
Dalton was the guy who raised the army which took over guardia.... the masamune was stolen by someone unknown guy (maybe Lynx from Chrono Cross, who knows). And the Dream Devourer is just the proto-version of the time devourer from CC.
It's a somewhat attempt at it. Schala was absorbed by Lavos as we all know in Chrono Cross, this is just right after she gets thrown into the Darkness Beyond Time in Zeal and absorbed by him, but it's only partially right now so Lavos hasn't fully evolved yet. Then the ending would imply Magus is Guile in Chrono Cross, which really complicates things even further.
Well, if we can get Lavos's graphics to appear on the Tesseract, then adding this event would take like...a few days to a week at max if you work on it contiunously. But if you want to add ALL the events, that's going to take quite awhile.
He is pretty much enigmatic if I remember correctly on that part. Most people want to insinuate that it's Magus, since he technically is part of this still, just not really seen.
And as for the translation, I didn't think literal translations count. In Guile's case, it's like FF6 where in the Japanese version, Sabin's called Mash or Terra's original name is Tina.
Super Computer was made to preserve Chronopolis but it got its own mind when it touched the frozen flame and wanted to do everything to "live" when a lot of things happened to the city (time warp, colliding with dinopolis where dinoman won, etc)
I think that was making a reference to Radical Dreamers (the translators changed it to Magil to avoid confusion). I haven't played Radical Dreamers in a while but I think that even there Magus had no recollection as well. So no, he's most likely not Guile.
Beat the game once. After that, you'll get a message that the Dimensional Vortex and Lost Sanctum has opened. Beat every Dimensional Vortex (3 of them). (1000 AD, 12,000 BC, 65,000,000 BC). Go back to the End of Time and talk to Gaspar, he'll explain the situation. Go to the Time Bucket and you'll have a choice of Time's Eclipse or 1999 AD. Take Time's Eclipse and you'll be there.
Masato Kato has stated that he wanted Guile to be Magus but didn't have enough resources so he made him an entirely different character. And Magus here is referencing Magil from Radical Dreamers. I haven't played RD in a while but I think Magil was also amnesiac. That's another point, the final scene didn't prove anything but gave Magus amnesia.
You can save Schala in CC you just got use the Chrono Cross as an elemental when the right elemental order has been used Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, White. I notice that many people never beat CC the right way with Chrono Cross.
Then you fight Lavos. You teleport to one small area, and if you walk forward Lavos arises and you can choose to fight or run. Run, you go back to the End of Time, Fight well, that's self explanatory.
The future world is somewhat Chrono Cross. The three main characters do appear as ghosts to scream at Serge for destroying their world. Glenn is NOT Frog's human form in Chrono Cross. They're two completely different people, as the people said. Magus isn't Guile either. He was intended to be him, but they scratched that and made him a different character.
Crap. Accidentally clicked spam instead of reply. Anywho, yes. The boss you're thinking of is the "Time Devourer" which has Schala fused with it. This secret boss is the "Dream Devourer" which is a pre-requisite to the Time Devourer. It's kind of cheap, but it works very well.
@Wuto1991 Nope, it was just Squaresoft. It was way before they merged together. Crono, Marle, and Lucca are definitely dead in ONE dimension of Chrono Cross. The other one, not so sure.
I don't recall anything about Serge being an orphan. I remember he went to sea with this dad and in one world he died and the other the didn't. His dad died in both worlds though but somewhat living through the form of Linx, which is also the Mother Computer.
Yea...There's a few changes on it like...quite a few new spikes. I'm changing the graphics of it a little bit in the Schala/DS project so it looks more resembled to the Time Devourer instead of this.
I heard that all Zeal citizens dye their hair blue to separate themselves from the Earthbound. Where I read that, I don't even remember but it does somewhat make sense.
It kind of does actually. Guile was a wandering magician type person that lost his memories, Magus mysteriously ends up in a forest and loses his memories. It's not a full blatant connection, but it's almost obvious enough for people to think so, even still, it destroys Chrono Cross.
You can save Schala Toad47 :P Read my reply to Ry you just have to use the Chrono Cross has an elemental in the final boss when the order of elementals have been used Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, White and thus you will see the real endning
Because it takes a lot of work to get it the way you want it. It's not really just a THIS GOES HERE AND THERE DONE =D! type of thing. You actually have to plan things out and get it to do what you want.
I knew that much about it but I have never ever heard one bit of Janus/Magus being Serge. That must be either some massive BS or something that I missed when seeing that stuff.
I could make out most of it. I was expecting the ending to be kinda sad, but in a way it felt like there was peace at last for him. ...until the very end when he made it a quest to regain his memory. but that's fun too! It seems Kato still wants them to reunite the right way.
@Xjustin3009X I don't care if it complicates things further.... lol. If it can mean my denial of Guile being Magus (after learning the whole "we make magus then scratch him to make Guile") can be made a reality, then I'm a happy camper! Though Guile is a bit.... Femmy... I chalk that up to he has so much awesome it just exudes from him in an effeminate manner. He just didn't have his memories to handle all of his awesome correctly XD
In Chrono Cross, the Masamune has turned "evil", so to say, and feeds the wielder's hatred. This is the reason it happened, a horrible crime committed by that sword.
Schala erases his memories and sends him back because she wants him to forget about her. Magus pretty much says like "Who am I? Where am I? I...I was trying to find something..."
Just want to remind everyone that Magus is not Guile. Because in the Japanese version of CC, Guile is named Alf. Why the translators changed it to something similar to Gil to complicate things is beyond me.
Dammit all to hell! 13 years of trying everything to save Schala, 13 years of damn disappointment. First Chrono Cross and then this. Damn you, Square. Damn you to the depths of the deepest, hottest hell.
the future world in this game IS chrono cross. Since they did good in this game, the future world became what chrono cross is. Luca, Chrono, and the princess make guest appearances in chrono cross but not as playable characters. You can play as Frog's human form in chrono cross (Glenn). Magus is Guile. And this boss is from chrono cross but in that one it was called the time devourer.
No he's not. Masato Kato planned for him to be Guile, but he thought that it would create too many problems with the plot. All he left in to even reference that was Guile's Japanese name, Alf, short for Alfador. Janus' cat.
After what event are you fighting Lavos? I sounds like you haven't gotten too far (overall) in the game. Ayla becomes a regular party member in the game later on (You see her earlier than that as well), but if your fight Lavos before Frog's Masamune arc, then that might explain it (you haven't gotten to her yet).
Luminare would have cost 5 xp, but with maxed items, Chrono as a Caster is redundant. He has enough base Strength (which can be amplified with items and tabs) that Confuse is more powerful than Luminare. It multiplies a physical attack that is already stronger than most magic. It's the same reason that I did my second Lavos runthrough with Marle Chrono and Robo with the Crisis Arm. Marle heals Robo to 999 health and even his Uzi Punch is stronger than 99% of the other attacks.
Kidd is reincarnated Schala, or you can say Copy in a sense as well. (not the exact same Schala you see as CT....same mind, different body, different memory / personality)
This just proves that Magus is indeed Guile. And you just stated that they are not the same because of name differences? Isn't that odd? Frog's name in Japan was Kaeru, and Magus's was Maoh. So does that mean that they're not who they are because of translation differences?
Er..what? Serge is nowhere even near being Janus or Magus in general. They're two completely different entities. That's like saying Crono is his own dad.
i miss being a kid putting on a snes and playing chrono cross or something which was mind.blowing! now its all blah cod this cod that gotta love the amazing rpgs and games back then

No. Radical Dreamers is in a completely different dimension. D:
I regret Schala's fate more than Aerith's
Lucca's letter was leftover from the pre-production phase when Kato wrote Magus into the story. He opted against it, but left the letter in(maybe because everything else besides the reference to Janus was good anyway). Guile was somewhat of an amnesiac in CC as well. I can't remember, but there's specifically a quote that pretty much implies he's Magus.

This battle is so freakin' epic! Plus, the music makes it even more epic! 5 stars!
And as for the translation, I didn't think literal translations count. In Guile's case, it's like FF6 where in the Japanese version, Sabin's called Mash or Terra's original name is Tina.
Yea...plus there's a couple extra spikes or whatever you want to call them near Schala.
Super Computer was made to preserve Chronopolis but it got its own mind when it touched the frozen flame and wanted to do everything to "live" when a lot of things happened to the city (time warp, colliding with dinopolis where dinoman won, etc)

Yea! For some reason hearing that boss music on this boss...just seems so much better. It's strange XP
12,000 BC after Zeal falls. North Cape, it's a little entrance at the top of the island.
Wow... this pretty much confirms the theory that Lavos became Time Devourer. This sequence is the biggest link between the two games.
Beat the game once. After that, you'll get a message that the Dimensional Vortex and Lost Sanctum has opened. Beat every Dimensional Vortex (3 of them). (1000 AD, 12,000 BC, 65,000,000 BC). It's not really much of either. It is mentioned that Guardia isn't there anymore, but there's not much else to support it.
You can save Schala in CC you just got use the Chrono Cross as an elemental when the right elemental order has been used Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, White.

Quick boss battle and showing the ending and the boss itself.
Then you fight Lavos. You teleport to one small area, and if you walk forward Lavos arises and you can choose to fight or run. Run, you go back to the End of Time, Fight well, that's self explanatory.
the one in your party eventually becomes the one you run into here

@Wuto1991 ...And Robo gets deleted by the FATE supercomputer, as well. And then we never know what becomes of Ayla, Frog, and Magus. :(
I don't recall anything about Serge being an orphan. I remember he went to sea with this dad and in one world he died and the other the didn't. His dad died in both worlds though but somewhat living through the form of Linx, which is also the Mother Computer.

Yes. It's called NO$GBA , it supports DS but you have to download severals plugins to make the games works.
This is before Chrono Cross. It's pretty much explaining a few things while completely destroying Chrono Cross's plot in some fashion XP
It's all over the place on the internet. Just check on google.
You can save Schala Toad47 :P Read my reply to Ry you just have to use the Chrono Cross has an elemental in the final boss when the order of elementals have been used Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, White and thus you will see the real endning

Watch the end of the video, I think that disproves that. Although, the concept still remains, CT:DS changed that completely.
I knew that much about it but I have never ever heard one bit of Janus/Magus being Serge. That must be either some massive BS or something that I missed when seeing that stuff.

i always use golden stud on crono, because 20 mp for luminaire, and 15 for frenzy is too much, with golden stud is 3 for frenzy and 5 for luminaire
This boss is just like Queen Zeal on Lavos at the Ocean Palace only it's a different color and has Schala on it this time.
@Xjustin3009X
I don't care if it complicates things further....
Actually...I'm not so sure about Schala erasing it. He might have done it himself so he can start anew.
Dude..That was super EPIC o.o!
Schala is and is not in Cross. Her combining with Lavos is what created the Time Devourer.
Guile is PROBABLY Magus. No confirmation but it's likely.
All I can see that this proves is that Guile from Chrono Cross IS indeed Magus.
Yes, I know why, I was simply pointing out it won't take a couple months to add that into the game.
that future did exist in a parallel world.
Yea. I give it a couple months though before someone implements it into the SNES version.
3:10 Starfall is a devestating attack? What does it mean by that? 'Cause it only caused 19 damage!
Dammit all to hell! 13 years of trying everything to save Schala, 13 years of damn disappointment. First Chrono Cross and then this. Damn you, Square. Damn you to the depths of the deepest, hottest hell.
You have to use Action Replay Codes to bypass it.
i havent play chorno cross but i saw gameplay of it her desing it differnt even if fans say that her you still feel your fighting a different person
It definitely is her, though why she's blonde is something we'll never know. All we know is that it really is Schala inside 'Lavos'.
Ok, so magus is there and they're fighting the same end boss as chrono cross so Guile is Magus and just makes the whole story make more sense
Awesome view dude......
She'll be playable and maybe saved in a little project Compendium and I are doing ^_*
All dialogue is placed in the video description, so if you guys can't read what's being said, it's there for you now!

@CameronMcDChilliwack DS version xD; SNES version doesn't have any of this :D

@CameronMcDChilliwack Most definitely ;D
This just proves that Magus is indeed Guile. And you just stated that they are not the same because of name differences? Isn't that odd?
Frog's name in Japan was Kaeru, and Magus's was Maoh. So does that mean that they're not who they are because of translation differences?
it kinda sad. how what in really magus was trying to save his sis but.. she didint let him save her
Amazing...but...the DemonKing who losses his memory is the DemonKing of your party or the one who was trying to save Schala from the Dream Devourer?
Btw how much HP does this boss have since in Chrono Cross at the end of that game it only had around 30,000 or so I think.
It was. But it doesn't change the fact that Square should be damned to hell. I agree with RySenkari.
well you can play it in classic mode and the new ds one on the DS version.
It's actually a pretty good game. Although it doesn't go with the Chrono series very well, it was still a pretty decent text game.
Er..what? Serge is nowhere even near being Janus or Magus in general. They're two completely different entities. That's like saying Crono is his own dad.
Yes. I've beaten it a few times.
hey man, i just wanna ask, what quest is the one Gaspar referse too as " One person close to you need help... and fast" i donno who his refering too:P
You know for some reason when I saw that ending, the song Black Balloon came to mind xD It wasnt as good of an ending as I was hoping for.
dream devourer wasn't as tough as i thought it would be
Only a couple of months? It always seems even small mods and hacks take eons to complete.
but, it is not new. It happend on the original version (SNES). They just remade it on DS
Where the hell do yo guys keep getting Serge from? He's nowhere near mentioned in Chrono Trigger ._.
@Xjustin3009X but wasn't CC form Squaresoft AND Enix or am I wrong?
btw i heard that in CC Crono and Marle died is that true?? (pls don't be)
Yea.
@Kisamefishfry i agree but the old rpg's are so hard to find XP
Plus she looked 6 years younger.
So this is the thing that is born if Chrono Cross events fail to turn out well? >_>;;
The Japanese rom has an option to play through as English text. Strange, huh?
Ayla took over 2500 damage from the first attack? What was her magic defense?
well Kaeru means frog in japanese so really his name is the same
En la version de snes no aparece este Jefe??
i miss being a kid putting on a snes and playing chrono cross or something which was mind.blowing! now its all blah cod this cod that gotta love the amazing rpgs and games back then
and full screen
Which EMU did you use to play this? Looks like iDeas...
@Xjustin3009X i will have to agree with you
