That's not a "Family Guy" joke. That's the lyric from the series' theme song by Donny Hathaway. The people that wrote this lyric wrote the theme to "Good Times" and also "The Way We Were" for Barbra Streisand.
it should have been like this Lady Godiva was a freedom rider, she didn't care if the whole world looked. Joan of Arc with the lord to guide her, she was a sister who really cooked. Madame Curie was a strong woman character, working all day in a science lab yeah. Clara Barton was a famous nurse, who was wrapping with the soldiers and bandages too. Susan B. Anthony always out doing stuff, marching around and holding up signs. Pocahontas had it all going on, and Indian guide with lots of Indian pride. Indira Gandhi ran a whole big country, that isn't easy even if you're a guy. Babe Zaharias was a pretty good athlete, good at track and field and professional golf too. Amelia Earhart flew alot of airplanes, except for that one time when she didn't come back. Cleopatra lived way out in the desert, but still found a way to keep herself looking fine. Isadora was the first bra-burner, Ain't ya glad she showed up? (Oh yeah!) And when the country was fallin' apart, Betsy Ross got it all sewed up. And then there's Maude.
The funny thing about animation is that since so much of this is a still picture, they probably saved weeks of production and like $100,000 by delivering us this joke lol
Just to clear up some incorrect info in these comments... Donny Hathaway sang the original. He's probably best known for his duets with Roberta Flack of Where Is the Love and The Closer I Get to You. The parody version is performed by Arnold McCuller who's worked as a backup singer for the likes of James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, and Phil Collins.
