They have not learnt one lesson from a thousand years of oppression from different invading groups ! They possess an inferiority complex that is unparalleled in the history of peoples. Sadhguru had a befitting reply to all their queries....Shows how the effects of colonialism can last for decades if not centuries.

Article 51A of constituion of India mentioned the constitutional duty to respect national anthem and national flag. In our culture, standing up for somebody is way of respecting someone. For example, In educational instituitions we stand up for our teacher when he or she enters in the class to show them respect and same thing goes with our national flag and anthems because it is our constitutional duty. Unfortunately, our country is failing in build a good character in youth and being a part of youth of India I will always give respect to my national anthem.

By the way I sang Indian National anthem at the cinema in India in Delhi. Wow what an emotional moment for me and I was not born in India. The moderator, shame, he contradicts himself in the end. One little thing that everyone can do, like standing, but these dense kids continue to argue about personal freedom of expression but make no sense and refuse to listen. They're comparing apples and oranges. Sadhguru you spoke truth, logic, and made perfect sense. Unfortunately, these children just wanted to be right. So sad. India will remain the way it is.

Standing for the national anthem is a mandatory and respectful practice that every Indian should adhere to. As the son of an Army Officer, I have grown up in a military environment, and there's no question about my commitment to this tradition. However, playing the national anthem in a movie theater is a form of disrespect. There are specific protocols for flag hosting, including a designated time before sunset. Similarly, the national anthem should not be played after sunset, and it is not meant to be played under a roof. Encouraging the playing of the national anthem in movie theaters is highly disrespectful and should be discouraged.

The thing is these people aren’t there to ask questions to gain some knowledge, they are asking questions to put Sadhguru down. Hats off to Sadhguru’s patience. The problem here is they are not listening, they are simply responding to have a debate to prove themselves right. I am literally questioning this generation’s thinking about their own nation. What’s up with standing for mere 52 seconds? They want everyone to express the respect to nation in their own way, that’s ok but not right with the context of our national anthem. They are going be lawyers, what if everyone will express their emotions, opinions and “respect” in their own way in the court?? It’s simple!! They just can’t get this simple thing.

I get what the questioner is asking - freedom to do what one likes but Sadhguru clearly mentions how a diverse population can have one common point to come together. Its not a diktat like what one thinks. Let's do it for others, for the lesser privileged or educated to come on one platform. Oneness is needed to make the block move.

I am a student of class 11th... and each point these people were giving just made me think wth are they talking. They are students of law, don't they know simple idea of nationalism??? Nationalism is simply a feeling of togetherness either on the basis of race, culture or language. But India is a country full of diversity. There are very less similarities between people of our country. And because of this reason, many states of India want to be an independent state. Hence, to build an idea of similarity, togetherness and unity, there are different ways, including our national anthem.
For example, in a cricket match, every indian will stand and sing their anthem with pride, forgetting their caste, religion, race, etc. And thats how nationalism will develop in the hearts of citizens.
Why is this even a matter of debate??? Can't people stand just for 1 minute to give respect to their land and its people??

It is so sad that these young children cannot understand what it is be patriotic, to stand up for the national Anthem is a mark of respect , as a common code given to salute our National Anthem , to salute our flag , to salute the sacrifice our freedom fighters and soldiers have done to save our nation. If this law college could not inculcate such a basic practice to form a good citizen then such a law college should be shut down for ever . Does not mean if one becomes a lawyer they should argue , question or defy every God dam point even it is nonsense. A lawyer not only helps one to understand one's right but also to help people understand the common code of respect one should follow to respect one's nation . Stupid college could not impart this common code to its students something that is so basic . It has failed in its basic principles as an institution .

Find it mind boggling that this question even exists...citizens in every nook and corner of the world stand up when the national anthem is sung/played...the national flag and national anthem is about love, honour and pride of a nation. I am a Malaysian Indian. I sing my country's national anthem and have raised our national flag with pride. We are a small nation of diverse races, we have our problems no doubt but when the national anthem is played or sung, we stand up..no questions asked: from the indigenous tribe in the remotest part of the country to the man in the city. I dont recall any student ever questioning it, whether they are from Chinese, Tamil, religious, public or international schools! I have utmost respect for every national anthem as it represents the 'pulse'of that nation an the flag its identity, if you cannot respect that ...what are you?
