While trying to rescue Dia (Kagiso Kuypers), Danny (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Solomon (Djimon Hounsou) are caught in a massive airstrike.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A South African mercenary and a Mende fisherman find their fates forever intertwined as they embark on a quest to obtain a rare and highly coveted pink diamond in director Edward Zwick's frantic adventure drama. Ripped from his family farm and forced to toil away in the sweltering South African diamond fields, Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) discovered an extraordinary rough stone of immeasurable value. Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a hired gun who specializes in the sale of so-called "blood diamonds" that are used to finance rebellions and terrorist organizations, and is currently serving time for smuggling. As a bloody civil war rages in Sierra Leone and Archer learns that Vandy has safely hidden the diamond in a place where no one would ever suspect, the pair enlist the aid of disillusioned American journalist Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly) in recovering the treasure that has the power to save Vandy's family and provide the desperate Archer with a much-needed chance for redemption.

Solomon beating Poison to death was one of the satisfying things I've seen in a movie. You can feel all the hatred he has for this man, who ripped his family apart and kidnapped his son; and a man so confident that he was in control stumbling away in dumbstruck fear .
Sometimes the big ones with weapon would falter in fear when a man with full of vengeance bearing down on him
Solomon is a fisherman, a man who provides for his family, he's not a blood thirsty psychopath like the Captain or a well trained soldier like Archer. Killing for him, is an foreign concept. To commit himself to this brutal act he has to pause his humanity and let that animal part take over, let that lizard brain take control of his body.
The fact that he kills him using a shovel gives you the idea that poison dug his own grave by being the sadistic monster that he was.
Watched this so many times since it’s release and only realised his name is *Poison* 😀😀😀😀😀
@@eminosose a lot of the warlords in the movie have stupid names. The guy Archer sells grenade launchers to at the beginning is named Rambo.
Djimon gave one of the most realistic depictions of rage I've ever seen in film.

Wrath, purest form of wrath
@@baldmansopinion2007 that was the wrath of a man protecting his child, the most potent kind of fury

Everyone keeps saying how Leo should have got an Oscar, but what about Djimon.
Well Leo did save a child in this scene besides kill many villain rebel soldiers right guys that could be why Leo was nominated for the award maybe
No one is talking about Leo
@@drewharding Leo to famous I don’t think Djimon was very recognized
They already say that too
Hard to decide. This film has good casts for Danny Archer, Solomon, Madie, and Captain Poison..
1:01 that’s when raw instincts just kick in, the primordial father instincts. Incredible acting.
This scene always manage to give me chills
Women be like : *Were just as strong, we can take on men*
Takes on men: *dies*
@@TheRealGunWhispererbe careful you’d be cancelled 😂😂😂😂😂
@@franklinpalmtak5817this scared me as a kid 😂😂😂
@@kodesh1674 lmao right...
Djimon Hounsou should have won the Oscar.
agree
actually he won it twice
@@wassimbakir2937 He's been nominated twice, never won.
I know thats right. He's really good.
He's amazing. The visceral rage and grief here would be difficult for most actors to pull off without some degree of hamminess, but he plays it so well it feels real and genuine.
Djimon is an exceptionally talented actor, he should be getting some more recognition for his talent
I know right
*Digimon.
Djimon definitely knows how to depict the fury of a friendly father.
_"Beware the fury of a patient man."_
@@Demi_Purple Totally. Djimon nailed that role. Such primal paternal fury must be hard to pull off as an actor. And hey, the actor for Captain Poison should not be overlooked, as I really cheered when he was shoveled to death.
Djimon is one of those actors that let others shine. Those are needed too. You can't put a film full of stars, that usually goes wrong. For me he has proven himself to fulfill that role in this film, the island, the four feathers and gladiator.
Goodfellas
Don't forget Amistad.
He isn't a Hollywood gloater, he's a good humble man and that's just his character.
What is four feathers about?
@@stilesjohnson1745 The Four feathers is set in the late 19th century staring Heath Ledger in the lead. Harry Faversham is an officer in the british army but resigns his commision when he hears they are send to fight in Sudan. His friends give him feathers out of cowardice. After a while he also goes to Sudan in order to save them. Djimon helps him him to achieve this.
One of the most satisfying moments in any film I've ever seen is when Solomon goes apeshit and beats captain poison to death. After everything he did to Sol and his family.
That is why you never tore apart anyone's lives and family, a man full of vengeance could take you down
1:01 that scream alone you know you dead
1:01
Its a good juxtaposition.
Captain Poison was RUTHLESS, but he was not actually hard
Vandy was a merciful person, but he WAS actually hard
You can hear that in solomon's voice that he is scared and in anguish atop of being murderously enraged
Just watched this movie last week and loved this scene so much. A moment where it's almost a sin to not break the sixth commandment; a monster has kidnapped and abused and drugged your child and turned him into a killer, and dares to get in your way when you're fighting to save them? Solomon's animalistic, fatherly rage is actually inspiring. And the moment where an everyman hero righteously trashes a competent villain is just so feel good.
Even funnier was how a few days before this, Soloman watched Archer kill 3 rebels and had this shocked look on his face. You wouldn't expect this from a fisherman
Solomon killing Poison is one of the most satisfying movie deaths of all time
Leo's handling an AK is phenomenal. Robust. Precise. In control. One of the best scene with this rifle.
The gunplay and sounds in this movie are both really terrific. I've got plenty of time behind or around all of the weapons in this movie (except for the Super Hind) and everything is spot on. There are other more modern movies with great gun play but really crappy sound design that BD completely outclasses (13 Hours comes to mind).
1:53
Damn, look at that shot. It's like the modern equivalent of those fantasy stories where a dragon lay waste into a village
I mean…let’s be real here. The MkIII Super Hind is about as close to a dragon as we’re ever likely to see.
Danny Archer is an underrated badass
It's insane how underrated this film is one of my favorite Leo roles Edward Zwick did an incredible job directing this
Damn, Djimon. Damn.
I remember how hard I was wishing to see Captain Poison brutally go down the first time I saw this movie. It was really satisfying to see Solomon finally get his revenge by killing him with the very shovel he was given to dig the diamond for the RUF. An amazing performance for both actors, one for making you hate his character from the start and the other for depicting the rage caused by everything he's been put through.
0:57-1:20 most savage shit i ever seen
I know right
1:01 best part of the film
It's actually pretty neat seeing an AK being used in semi-auto in a movie.
What a movie, Leo D. deserves an award for his job 🎉🎉🎉
Djimon definitely knows how to depict the Fury of a friendly father ❤❤❤
I think this is Leo finest work.. this is a actor who is dedicated to the role....
The South African accent and this scene...
1:02 African Saiyan rage
why is this my favourite movie wtf is wrong with me.
Nothing’s wrong with you. If this is your favorite movie, that’s perfectly fine.
Quite possibly my favorite performance of Leo’s career. I’ve always wanted to go to Africa to see how real the bloodshed in these countries are and if it matches up with the intensity of this astounding film.
In that case I recommend you take a trip to the Congo
@@levismith7444 I’ve heard about intensity in The Congo. I was looking at places like Ethiopia, Somalia, Libya, and Sudan.
@@Chatterbox-94 His accent was an abomination. But he still performed well. And I can assure you that the bloodshed is far worse and the last thing you'd ever want to see
@@thomaslombard8058 I will admit that his accent sounded more like someone from Australia or New Zealand but it’s the power and intensity of the film that I love most. A very important topic that not many people discuss these days.
@@Chatterbox-94 If you fancy reading, I recommend "My Friend The Mercenary". A superb account on African conflict.
Leo's problem is he is a phenomenal actor so long as he tries to sound like himself. But he has no talent for accents. He was clearly trying to speak like South Africans but he missed the mark badly. To many overseas viewers, especially in the US, they may have thought he was doing great but myself and every South African I know finds the movie almost unwatchable because of him. But the real star of the show was undoubtedly Djimon
Leo's 1 tapping that AK is badass as hell
I remember my whole family rooting for him once he grabbed that dang shovel when we had the dvd. My mother yelling the loudest lol
I want to correct ur point of view... we african, of course, we're proud of our nature and environment. We liked the movie and we enjoyed it as well. Therefore, if u think that this movie has dark side or hidden things, unlikely u're mistaken. come to see our truth instead of comment things that u do not know. cheers

"I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them; neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
I have wounded them that they were not able to rise, they are fallen under my feet.
For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle; thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.
They cried, but there was none to save them; even unto the Lord, but he answered them not." -Psalm 18:37-41

underrated
The Private Military Company, Executive Outcomes that was restarted this year actually did attack the Revolutionary United Front ( RUF ) with a Russian built MIL Mi-25 Hind which is the export version of the Mi-24. This movie was also accurate to the fact but used a Super Hind instead of the older Hind. These are great attack helicopters.
The Mi-24 is a Russian national treasure. Just a beautiful machine.
Yeah I always thought South African mercs were pretty cool, especially “mad mike” and his men in the 60s. What a time it was…
Leonardo is very talented actor...no doubt
I have watched this movie twice😍😍😍😍😍
"A Hind-D?" - Solid snake. "Die SNAAAAKE" - Liquid Snake. Archer is literally Solid snake in this scene.
1:02 is like my dad when I got math result in exam.
The commander had told the kids earlier in the film that their parents were weak. Solo showed him how weak he was.
and how strong Solo was protecting his famliy
Al Capone once said “Never mistake kindness for weakness. If you are unkind to me, the last thing you will think is I am weak.”
Did you know that the man who played Captain Poison also played Martian Manhunter and Cyborg Superman in Supergirl?
Wow, thats cool!
Toby g don't forget he also played yusef Omar in call of duty infinite warfare
Toby g His real name is David harewood
For real?! How have I never noticed that?
And Solomon Vandy was
- Wizard Shazam
- A Kree militant
1:02 I'm sorry but LMFAO!!!!!!
Archer shooting semi automatic while the RUF are shooting fully automatic is a great visual representation of a better trained soldier vs untrained militia.
man that crazy black guy was awsome
1:15 The beating Soloman gave that POS was so very satisfying!
Even though he had a pistol, and even though he didn't survive, I don't blame the rebel a bit for choosing flight over fight when he saw that face at 1:00 lol
Djimon’s Rage Was The Anger Almost As A Gorilla’s Rage In This Film Cause All He Ever Wanted Was His Son To Come Back Home And To His Family And A Diamond
This movie was AWESOME
leo is my ever rememberence undoubtly but djimon should get oscar for this movie
Dang if I saw someone with that expression at 1:03 I'd be sprinting for the hills as well. Djimon Hounsou acted the heck out of this role.
Leo should have 3 Oscars Djimon should have at least 1.
Even the devil runs in the face of rage of a righteous man
Awesome quote!!!!
Leo fits good in action movies he shall do more of em..
It's really a great film, it's a pity that it is little known.
Never mess with Djimon💪🏻
Good movie
Watching that warlords head get beat in by Solomon was quite satisfying indeed
Yea
Dijimon Hounson e foda, a expressão de ódio dele parece muito real
I have never seen the best movie like that
Its in realistic othough it sad me 😢

Who else came here just to watch Djimon beat the captain to death with a shovel? 🙋♂️
God damn djimom was scary asf in this scene. Shows why you don’t come between a father and his son

the guy just transformed into a killing machine.
0:20 me to my gunner in Battlefield when I'm piloting a gunship
Djimon and Leo should have gotten Oscar's for this.
Wish leo played in more action movies .
1:01 captain poison you fucked up
this movie was pretty good
Arnold Vosloo is awesome in this film :D
A South African treasure.
That war cry Solomon delivers is just epic
1:02 I think Thanos would have shat himself and turned back if he saw that.
The most dangerous thing you can do is get in the way of a loving father and his family.
I would not like to have been on the receiving end of Djimon in this omg
1:03 SPARTAAAA LOL
This scene where Solomon get's hi's revenge is purely horryfying, because it shows the primal side of the animal the human.
We may be a domesticated spices, but we are animals in every sense of the word.
When you come between an animal and it's offspring and family, you are gonna have a bad time.
Prove me wrong.
Hind's door gunner is mummy's imohtep.
🤣🤣sometimes it bes like dat poppis
Seals really good in this movie
Djimon Honsou should have been a megastar after this.
Blood Diamond 2: Dia's Gang in London
Dia gets shot over a 10 pound bag of grass.
Lol.
Wow. Great scene.
Imagine Solomon as the hulk
Most satisfying killing I have ever seen in my life.. if only we could see in detail how he cut that monster with the shovel!!!
Great scene
1:02 at 0.25x playback speed O.O
I wonder if they gave Djimon a paddled shovel so he could actually hit the character of Captain Poison without hurting the actor, because such anger requires to have something at your hand's reach to eliminate a threat. I am sure that something like this must have been done in order to make the scene as realistic as possible.
Would you rather fight a Mi-24 Hind or Djimon with a shovel?
Cheering on the shovel guy...
1:01 Sauce meme
Dis movies they never show you the proper war
Here in Angola, when there is a war de people dey do not cry, dey are happy because the streets become littered in deady bodies, finally some meat dey can harvest to bring home for dem childrens to eat...
Dis is de proper war

1:02 buh if I was the dude crawlin away I’d be scared af gawd damn
The exorcist is the most disturbing scene in history
Djimon Houson angry: excuse me!!! 1:01
He could be nominated by the oscars but he doesnt need it to show how great actor is
The poison scene kind of dominates but the fact that arthur is operating on semi auto while everyone is on full auto is storytelling in itself
😌....he been through alot
