Dead 7.3 Pedal? Erratic Throttle? Could be the pedal! BUTT Check the loom laying on top of the drivers side shock. Funny place to put a open wire loom!!! Easy to access it anyway. Of the 4 looms its the closest to the air box. In my case small gauge wire Lt grey/white (looks darker dirty), Orange with black stripe (fuel pump circuit) When the grey wire gounded it would kill the pedal, and the orange would pop the 20 amp fuse (#40) Moisture was usually a factor. Easy to bush fix to get home to a warm shop and cold beer. The damage is close to the plug leaving little room for soldering so I bi-passed the plug with some extra wire, soldered and shrink sleaved. Good Luck
Thanks for this video. Hopefully it will work. Seems easy enough to put in another snap micro switch. It's dumb that Ford is basically making the years that used this throttle obsolete because you can't find a throttle anymore. I'm on my 3rd but will clean up my old ones to see if it works. BTW the dorman throttle position switch does not work for the two plug pedal. I heard the whole assemblies are like 600 now.
Thanks for the video, would this also happen while idling? A 2001 F350 I got to look at today cranked before finally starting, and idled fine before randomly cutting out. The truck also had the symptoms that pointed to it being a bad IVS like the throttle response coming and going and the SES light coming on when that happens and going out when the response comes back
I don't remember exactly which one it was, but but there are contact cleaner sprays with lubricant already in them. Or, a drop or two of a light machine oil should also be fine after cleaning.
can you tell me a bit more of your for scan program? i have a mac and also a power stroke 7.3 and would like to be able to do bi directional scans and test like buzzing injectors etc.. what is your set up?
Is this the same switch and assembly as a 1993 ford diesel dump truck with cummings diesel takes? I think it is a 350 ford.l Would appreciate a reply........ t hanks
William Matthews- Did you find a replacement? I was told that you had to purchase the entire assembly; ergo that you couldn't buy just the switch. That assy is over $400, so I'd like to avoid that if possible. I'm having this issue at present. Thanks!
@@RX7GSLSEowner Good presentation. I faced thevsame issue in a truck. I changed this APS completely. But the problem is still . I can find the IVS switch.
Thank you for a well edited instructional video. You're a lifesaver mate !
+Russell Madden You're welcome. I'm glad it helped you!
PikachuG5 Hard to find good information to keep these trucks on road in Australia
I'm having the same issues with my 2002 Excursion. I will do this until I can replace in the future. Thanks for this video. Very helpful.
