I just woke up and did not expect for this video to get the amount of attention it did... Thank you for watching everyone. I enjoyed Yunchan's performance a lot as you can tell. And I truly do believe that he will win the competition after last night's performance. Hence, the title of the video is my prediction hahaha. It's only a matter of hours before we find out! He's only 18 years old and capable of producing such breathtaking tonal qualities. This competition brings in pianists with incredible abilities. There is also a vid on You Tube with him playing it when he was 15. Oh my I have to wonder when he learned it??? Yunchan Lim was also my choice for Gold early on. He had something none of the others even came close to. His Beethoven 3rd also is so precise, pure, clean, I'm amazed!!!
Thank you for your channel. I've not experienced this before. I could be wrong. But Yunchan went out there and owned this piece. And Marin knew it. The orchestra knew it. The audience was in shock. And I likewise just knew that something had happened. No use trying to analyse or predict. It simply was. The jury has no option neither excuse. A young man for this decade. (And I too have seen Horovitz ( London 1982)!). Phenomena etc.
Yunchan Lim was born to play the Rach 3rd. Total and absolute control of technical aspects, sublime touch during melodic episodes and bone-crunching control of technique to "sail above the orchestra" with the focus on Rachmaninov's thematic content. I have always loved Vladimir Horowitz performance of this concerto. Yunchan's performance is "a young version of Vladimir's mastery." Unbelievable! Inconceivable!
Agreed! When I heard him play this I thought to myself, this is the winner, flawless, made it look easy, passionate, accurate dynamics. Up there with the absolute best!
This is a very bold statement but I stand by it: I feel like I now know how Richter would’ve played Rach 3. The balance between clarity/poise and drama/tension was indeed Richter-like. Maybe the best Rach 3 I’ve ever heard. I fell in love with this piece all over again after I thought it’d been done to death.

My jaw dropped when I first heard his Beethoven Eroica Variations in an earlier round, first time I appreciated that piece. Ever since, at every round, he proved way, way ahead of anyone. I had said all along, that if he hadn't won, something is very wrong. I can listen to his playing all day.
You should check out his Liszt transcendental etudes.
@@latishachaney6592 Did too, I checked everything he did after hearing that Eroica. Ans trust me I will go back to these vids!
It's a great piece. A favourite of Glenn Gould's. And Sokolov is playing it this season too.
He was amazing!
Thank you for showcasing this one in 100 Million Musical Talent!! I'm as astounded as everyone else!! I've Never heard anyone play this piece with the Poetry, Power, Depth, Nuance, Brilliance, Speed, Accuracy, Articulation, Introspection and Explosive Delivery as this Iconic Performance!!!
100 percent agree.
@@myungkim9254 me three 😊
Dios.
Yunchan's performance is "a young version of Vladimir's mastery."
Unbelievable! Inconceivable!
not true...young Boyz is better at mumble rap than unchain yunchain at piano
@@goutfromfriedokra3936 rap doesnt havr any musical value compared to rochmaninoff, it a lower form of music

I love you for loving this! It gives me hope for the world to see a young man go through the same paces in classical music appreciation that I did so many years ago - and which has enriched my life beyond my wildest dreams. WARMEST Kudos to you, Piergiorgio, AND thank you!
❤❤❤❤
I‘ve never heard that kind of sound in my 40yrs of life.. amazing beautiful…. Goosebumps
Incredible interpretation! Just wow!
Misleading to say competition winner, but I must say that in my almost 65 years that was absolutely the most electrifying Rach 3 I’ve ever heard. Just…OMG.
Yep. Click bait.
Well, now it’s true.
Well... maybe not anymore
@@lily772 lol, you called it!
I'm 75, and must say the same!
Your reactions and commentary are awesome! I LOVE your passion for the music!
Yes!
Marin Aslop is also a great conductor..works alot in Vienna ...i like her alot too.....very open for young people and new music!
what a fantastic young talent!
Thank you so much for posting your thoughts and feelings about this. I agree with every word. His playing is superhuman. I've never heard anything like it.
BRILLIANT
How sentient! Balance, tempo, power, rhythm.. perfection and more. He’d just walked throughout 19th. Can’t believe he’s 18! He’s touch is mature..!
+ Piergiorgio, I love your prediction!
I also want to 👏 👏👏 the conductor as well as Lim . As you know , it's great to lead an orchestra with the same breathing and inspiration as a conductor . They were all great and so was the audience who responded to it. Isn’t it?
yes yes yes~
I couldn't agree more, Piergiorgio! Incredibly moving performance!
