Heads up all, there is a bug in the latest open beta release that causes binding issues to happen, for me I was able to restart the client and then it played nice. Plus new options where added with the open beta, so I'm going to release an updated video for you all too.
I didn't even have controller bindings available in open beta or server slam. Hope I have controller bindings at launch because I really want to move potions and remap the wheel menu because I keep accidentally hitting dpad up on accident and that wheel menu comes up and blocks screen, which is no good during a fight.
Seriously frustrated with the PARAGON board, on my Play Station. Can't figure out how to interact with placing the GLYPHs. Lvl 89 Barbarian, and just refunded all my points to reach multiple boards. You can't just click and drag !!!!! And no one has it in a video. Secondly, when I had a glyph installed, before I disassembled, the requirements were met at 27/25 dexterity. But all the glyphs in storage say 0/25 dexterity. Guess I'm still just a noob. Thanks for any comments you can make.
Been having some massive carpal aches on both hands lately, between work and after years of K/M gaming I guess age is showing, so for the first time I decided to pick up a controller on D2 resurrected, since D3 does not support controllers, and I tell you 'I love it', love the analog response to walk and run if I want to and the best to shoot in the direction I am facing without fiddling with cursors, etc. Can anyone chime in and let me know if D4 controller mechanics are the same as D2R.
I’m wondering how leap attacks and teleport attacks work on the controller? I don’t expect you can choose a target in a crowd of enemies and leap there?

I still call buttons start and select like the old NES remotes. I tell my 5 year old nephew to press start or select and he knows what buttons I mean even though he doesn't know what start and select mean as words.

And do u mind sharing a discord server for diablo iv community? Since there is not much player in my country so it is a bit difficult to find party and other stuff. Liked and subscribed 👍
not sure why, my ps5 controller works perfectly on steam, but the diablo4 just do not detect it at all. all the controller configuration menu are empty for me.
also do you have to still point and click with your controller to get your character to move? i was hoping that with controller my left control stick would work for moving my character, just need to know if its becuase im using a switch controller or if thats just how the game is.
One thing I did not hear you address is the difference in using movement skills in terms of distance, and being able to target certain AOE skills on a controller versus a keyboard and mouse. The controller is certainly inferior when it comes to these such as the sorcerer teleport and barbarian Leap, etc.. these are some pretty big issues.
@@harissehagic4270 Get a controller if you don't have one and have both on PC! I actually had to switch to controller for my Sorcerer capstone because aim lock is so good on controller, feels like cheats. Friend also complains how on controller quest items get highlights while on KBM you have to hover over the item. I use both depending how I'm feeling.
This is a critical issue. I love the controller, it does everything EXCEPT allowing me to target a particular area or mob when casting spells (eg lightning storm on druid). I can do the general direction of the spell casting, but I can’t consistently control which mob in that direction (near or far to me). With mouse, u can cast the spell on to the mob where u are pointing the cursor at.
Can you help me i am using my switch controller. the game picks it up i am able to move and dodge, and attack, however when i go into the controller settings everything is blank. and when i click on like "core skill slot" nothing happens. It doesnt allow me to change anything.

did you actually play wirelessly with a ps5 controller on pc? I couldn't get it to work during either beta, I had to directly plug it in, and from what I've heard, the PS controller doesn't work wirelessly with D4, only xbox (the source could be wrong and just having the same issues I am, idk, he's a youtuber).
My Xbox (Series X) controller works almost perfect. BUT: to open the map it is not enough to use the Option Button alone but to use simultaneously the left stick in any direction?! Why?! Same thing with basic attack (A). Used without the left stick directed in any direction it opens the chat window, second time (A then A) closes the chat window and third hit (A then A then A) does basic attack…?!? Any suggestions?
Hey sorry if someone asked this already, but im playing on Xbox and during the betas I could not find an easy way to target mobs quickly on the rouge to shadow step to. I know you can click in R3 an cycle targets, but is this the best/quickest way? Or do you have a better suggestion to make this targeting/spell feel more fluid and comfortable. Thanks in advance.
So if you move with the left stick, can you change facing without moving with the right stick? If not, can you bind a button to brake movement so you can just stand and aim? I wanna be able to tweak my aim without moving if I play a ranged build.

Only reason I want to play on controller is so I can move with the sticks. Why I had to click to move is beyond me. This is my first diablo game as well.
I can say that for range controller is very solid, I played a rogue during the beta weekend and aiming is very easy. Along with the target lock option (R3) you could target an elite mob or boss with tons of adds and have zero issues while kiting or zipping around to avoid damage and maintain your target.
How are you not addressing the fact that you cannot cast a skill on an empty spot (like behind a mob)?? The targeting system will always cast your skill on the closest mob you are facing. This makes any AOE skill half as effective (i.e. useless). How are you gonna cast your "Sever" or "Fireball" in the middle of a pack? Cycle through targets? Please... The controller is making you inconsistent, ineffective and just plain sub par. I really wish I hadn't bought it on ps5. I deserve it for trusting Blizzard to do a good job ofc, but ppl like you are misleading others into thinking the controller is just fine.
I loved it for gameplay, but for inventory and what not M+K was way better. I loved how on PC I didn't have to change input methods. I just used M+K for inventory and skill management and went right back to controller to play all 100% seamless. Great system.
Was it really? I have a really old pc and I’m REALLY trying to quit/ stop playing wow obsessively. So if I get a console I can play w good graphics and performance and move away from pc but I’ve ALWAYS been a keyboard mouse gamer. Playing w a controller is the only thing I’m worried about.
I'm playing the latest Beta on PC and I have an issue I can't find a fix for. When I started the game, I stupidly forgot to change the input select from auto to Controller. Now, whenever I try and use my Wireless Xbox Controller the buttons always revert to K&M which makes it impossible to actually do anything with it. K&M still works, which is fine but I know my wrists are gonna kill me after a while. I know the issue is the input selection but I can't find the setting to change it. I've had this issue in many games before and changing this one option always resolves it. Does anyone know where to find this option? I've looked for ages online and no one is talking about it. Help! TIA!
Hello this might be fixed but if close steam. Steam is messing with your configurations. Open up task manager and close all instances of steam. I believe you can turn off a setting in big picture mode in steam, but for now closing every instance of steam has fixed your problem for me
What do u set your back paddles for? I only played the server smash. Didn’t use my elite controller. Just a standard one. But plan to use the elite when it releases. I think evade would be a good option for a back paddle I’m totally new to play Diablo on controller tbh. But it feels pretty good, so I think I’m going with it.
I’m unable to play wirelessly. Both ps4 and ps5 controller work when wired but not wireless….I’m able to play wirelessly with my steam library…so not sure what to do
What value does this video have? You're lvl10. You've played this game for an hour. You dont even have unlocked all the skills. You are in no position to answer the key question - can the game be comfortably played on the controller?

Is there a way to re-arrange items in your stash/inventory with a controller? I played the beta on a ps5 and couldn't find a way. Also I noticed that with ranged characters you can't can't choose where to cast/summon spells like hydras anywhere you want on the screen (with the mouse you can place them right next to you if you want), there is always a certain distance.
Is it easy to kite using the controller? With the mouse it's just a matter of fast clicking between the target and the opposite side. Can't imagine doing this with the controller...
I like the PS5 controller a lot over that of the PS4, but my personal preference is the xbox elite series 2 controller. That being said, PS5 is a much more budget friendly price.
I am not sure if its my system setting, but during the open beta I could use only Xbox controller on PC, not the dual sense. Dual sense works fine on other games on my laptop.
Question. I am playing necro, i have a two handed sword that has skills meant for necro. I have no option to attack with the actual sword itself. Only can use my skills is this normal or is there a button on Xbox that lets you attack with the sword itself? Feel like I’m missing somthing
I use a PS4 controller. One frustrating thing is that pressing X (used for basic attacks and interaction) often opens the chat which is quite frustrating. The menus to assign keys is also fucked, swithcing back and forth from controllers inputs to keyboard/mouse inputs, which makes me unable to change anything. Any advice?

im using dualsense edge to play on pc but i cant open the map and it doesnt let me change the binding. Everything else work perfect fine. Do you know why that happen?
I separated interact and the basic skill. This is my general layout. I also have A on the left paddle and B on the right paddle but its not really necessary for this game. L click Potion . Stun/Defense=LT RT=Stun/Defense Interact=LB RB=Defense . Evade Y Core/Spam- X B -Dodge Basic/Core/AOE A Basic/Low cost .
Playing all the diablo games on PC prior to this one that i play now on xbox its hard to beat k&m. On controller it seems you have to many wasted shots as a ranged fighter like when you try and kite you spend wasted shots at nothing.
In the inventory you open the Stats overview with the left Controller stick. But how can I switch back to the right to my equipment when the Stats overview are open? It works via mouse but the controller is trapped in the left Stats overview !? 😮
Pressing B or L3 does it, but it doesn't keep your stats up, that might be excellent feedback for the devs. You can do it with M&KB so I think they should add that here too.
@@GingerPrimeGaming Exactly. With Button B or L3 the Stats overview is closed again. This small white frame should move to the right in the inventory Screen when the left Stats Screen are open.... but unfortunately it does not. Do you have an idea where I can submit the feedback?
I tried controller and it was the worst experience ive ever had with a controller setup. The settings must have been messed up bc the chat box in the lower left kept opening up and staying open the entire time

what would be the best configuration if we uncheck combine interact and basic skill? what else can we drop from other mappings. As basic attack button keeps picking all the junk items.
In the follow additional settings video (linked in desc/comment) I have loot pickup disconnected from attack, so check out that video and I think you'll enjoy the experience. :)
Pull up the map, then left D pad to quest log, then up and down to select the quest and press A (or x on ps) or you can hover over the quest on the map and say track (with a or x - for ps)
Press the "start" aka hamburger button, go to options and controller config. I'll play around with PS5 this weekend for you if it gives you any trouble.

You can separate the Basic Attack and Interact keybinds. You can do this with KB+M or controller. For KB+M you can also separate Move, Attack, and Interact, which means no more accidentally casting a spell at a far away enemy instead of moving out of that pack of mobs.
This is worse game for controller it makes u use A on Xbox to interact and use your ability u can't change it or it makes them both null im so frustrated and let down by this cus there is no way of playing on controller on pc now for me im tired of A always opening my Chat bar when im in the middle of boss fight why can't blizzard simplify this crap man...

I did show it, in real time on the video I linked you, unless we're just not understanding each other and talking about two different things, I believe i was around the half way point where I swap my controller and the buttons themselves refresh. I unplugged my ps5 controller and then turned on my wireless xbox controller.
because you use stick to move, skills have stand-still built into them by default. so to answer your question yes, but it's automatically how skills work on controller, no need to press an extra bind.
You can, but you’ll want to bind that to a button and I didn’t have any to spare. Game > options > then you’ll see it at the bottom. I’ll send feedback that they need to allow us to have muliti button options like (hold R1 and pull back on the right stick) because that would open it up too
I'm trying to use my PS4 Wireless controller to play D4. Unlike Diablo Immortal the PS4 controller does not work. I loaded up DS4Windows, but I have a lot of issues. Randomly the character won't move, or sometime the character will move and keep moving long after I've stopped moving the character. Button randomly don't work or are very delayed. And to top it all off the controller randomly turn off. I have the latest version of DS4Windows and I've installed the Hidhide driver but Hidhide made no difference. Can anyone please help?!
trying to use my pro controller hooked up by Bluetooth and the ui isn't changing to button configuration and the right analog is just moving the cursor around. what am I doing wrong?
For xbox or for switch? I haven't been able to get my switch controller to work, but if your xbox controller isn't working, restart your client, seems to be a bug.
Really want to like the game, but it’s nothing special and or really difficult. I actually regret the preorder. I just don’t like it. It’s Diablo 3 re-skinned but that’s my opinion and my opinion alone.

I have an issue where my LT auto uses my spirt spells while I mele and it some times misses by a mile

When you go into your character menu you click the L3 and it will take you into skill edit mode

You do no, you can just use the sticks to move in whatever direction you wish :)
Just got it on PC and noticed that there's no controller vibration with any of the moves. Is that normal? If not how do i fix this?

Playing on controller means you are casual and maxing out the distances do not mean much to you, IMO.

My only grief is when you have to place a target on the ground for one of your spells. Otherwise everything else is flawless.
How does that work? Like if im a necro how do i target corpses at a distance?

That's a bug that was just introduced with the latest release as I'm running into it as well.
I had to restart my game, and it started working again just fyi.

Since it was a beta, I wasn't able to test it with the window, but if it's still giving us issues come June, I'll see what I can find out.

What do u set your back paddles for? I only played the server smash. Didn’t use my elite controller. Just a standard one. But plan to use the elite when it releases. I think evade would be a good option for a back paddle I’m totally new to play Diablo on controller tbh. But it feels pretty good, so I think I’m going with it.
I have them set to my RB ability and my dodge skill too

Plug and play for Xbox controllers but there is an app for the elite that lets you remap stuff
What value does this video have? You're lvl10. You've played this game for an hour. You dont even have unlocked all the skills. You are in no position to answer the key question - can the game be comfortably played on the controller?

Wireless Xbox works for me, but I couldn't get PS5 wireless to work.
Is there a way to re-arrange items in your stash/inventory with a controller? I played the beta on a ps5 and couldn't find a way.
Also I noticed that with ranged characters you can't can't choose where to cast/summon spells like hydras anywhere you want on the screen (with the mouse you can place them right next to you if you want), there is always a certain distance.

I like the PS5 controller a lot over that of the PS4, but my personal preference is the xbox elite series 2 controller. That being said, PS5 is a much more budget friendly price.

I am not sure if its my system setting, but during the open beta I could use only Xbox controller on PC, not the dual sense. Dual sense works fine on other games on my laptop.

L3 (Click) it's not mappable at the moment, but just use that as a left stick click and you'll interact.
How do you attack? I've been pressing all buttons and nada... can only use spells and tecniques. But not like swing sword
Mine is setup for LT but there is a bug in the open beta... you might need to restart your client to fix it (that's what worked for me)
Question. I am playing necro, i have a two handed sword that has skills meant for necro. I have no option to attack with the actual sword itself. Only can use my skills is this normal or is there a button on Xbox that lets you attack with the sword itself? Feel like I’m missing somthing
So weapons seem tied to some skills, at least it’s that way on barb where some skills use different weapons
I use a PS4 controller. One frustrating thing is that pressing X (used for basic attacks and interaction) often opens the chat which is quite frustrating. The menus to assign keys is also fucked, swithcing back and forth from controllers inputs to keyboard/mouse inputs, which makes me unable to change anything. Any advice?
That seems like a bug that was introduced with this build, restart your client (that it was fixed it for me)

It's a bug with the latest build, restart your client, that's what fixed it for me.

Playing all the diablo games on PC prior to this one that i play now on xbox its hard to beat k&m. On controller it seems you have to many wasted shots as a ranged fighter like when you try and kite you spend wasted shots at nothing.
Because the controls are awful. Can we get aiming please? The right stick is useless lol at least give me a strafing button

In the inventory you open the Stats overview with the left Controller stick. But how can I switch back to the right to my equipment when the Stats overview are open? It works via mouse but the controller is trapped in the left Stats overview !? 😮

Pressing B or L3 does it, but it doesn't keep your stats up, that might be excellent feedback for the devs. You can do it with M&KB so I think they should add that here too.
@@GingerPrimeGaming Exactly. With Button B or L3 the Stats overview is closed again. This small white frame should move to the right in the inventory Screen when the left Stats Screen are open.... but unfortunately it does not. Do you have an idea where I can submit the feedback?

I tried controller and it was the worst experience ive ever had with a controller setup. The settings must have been messed up bc the chat box in the lower left kept opening up and staying open the entire time

How do u block with shield? Only see the attack button.
It’s a skill based to weapon game so check to see if you have any block abilities

D4 is the first MMO that is actually pretty nice to play with controller. Probably due to heavy marketing for consoles.

How to change quest ?!
Pull up the map, then left D pad to quest log, then up and down to select the quest and press A (or x on ps) or you can hover over the quest on the map and say track (with a or x - for ps)

Press the "start" aka hamburger button, go to options and controller config. I'll play around with PS5 this weekend for you if it gives you any trouble.

Any solution with trying to open chest or flip over bodies but if there’s any mob nearby it just default to an attack??
You can separate the Basic Attack and Interact keybinds. You can do this with KB+M or controller.
For KB+M you can also separate Move, Attack, and Interact, which means no more accidentally casting a spell at a far away enemy instead of moving out of that pack of mobs.

Hold the button instead of just a press. You should see the option under the skill

This is worse game for controller it makes u use A on Xbox to interact and use your ability u can't change it or it makes them both null im so frustrated and let down by this cus there is no way of playing on controller on pc now for me im tired of A always opening my Chat bar when im in the middle of boss fight why can't blizzard simplify this crap man...

I did show it, in real time on the video I linked you, unless we're just not understanding each other and talking about two different things, I believe i was around the half way point where I swap my controller and the buttons themselves refresh. I unplugged my ps5 controller and then turned on my wireless xbox controller.
Can you force stand-still attack on console?
because you use stick to move, skills have stand-still built into them by default. so to answer your question yes, but it's automatically how skills work on controller, no need to press an extra bind.

You can, but you’ll want to bind that to a button and I didn’t have any to spare. Game > options > then you’ll see it at the bottom. I’ll send feedback that they need to allow us to have muliti button options like (hold R1 and pull back on the right stick) because that would open it up too

Console it works out of the box but on pc you’d have to do some kinda key mapping software
I'm trying to use my PS4 Wireless controller to play D4. Unlike Diablo Immortal the PS4 controller does not work. I loaded up DS4Windows, but I have a lot of issues.
Randomly the character won't move, or sometime the character will move and keep moving long after I've stopped moving the character. Button randomly don't work or are very delayed. And to top it all off the controller randomly turn off.
I have the latest version of DS4Windows and I've installed the Hidhide driver but Hidhide made no difference.

For xbox or for switch? I haven't been able to get my switch controller to work, but if your xbox controller isn't working, restart your client, seems to be a bug.

Really want to like the game, but it’s nothing special and or really difficult. I actually regret the preorder. I just don’t like it. It’s Diablo 3 re-skinned but that’s my opinion and my opinion alone.
I had fun but I've never played diablo before this. Really not sure this game is worth $70 though
@@khuff8210 if u never played a Diablo it’s fun then after that it’s like every other loot game, you grind until you reach a higher difficulty and rinse and repeat. 70$ no it’s not worth that at all best case I argue 50$.
