    Asmon is very adaptive to a wide range of content, and it is his ability to pivot and share perspectives that may be hard to describe for some, but still simplifying it for his audience is something I admire.

      I’ve been enjoying his content more and more. I still think RUclips needs to give creators some more tools to help them benefit more from a react, because the demand for a react isn’t going away, and I think that’s fine.

    I kind of disagree about how react content harms the creator. I lost count how many channels I subscribed to because of Zack's takes, like Legendary Drops or Sungrand Studios. While they didn't get my views the first time, they did on other videos - a lot of other videos.
    Case in point, I only found out about you because of Grummz. My recommendations are actually turned off completely. You should thank him too.
    If your channel is getting negatively blasted by Zach's followers because of something he reacted to, it's probably because you had an awful take. And if you didn't have an awful take, then you clearly benefitted from it.

      This is very similar to artists whining about their art losing views on their main gallery because their art was posted on a public booru
      The issue is content creators think that a view on someone else's react video is a view that was taken from them. Most of the time, in fact for virtually all case, people who found the react video first instead of the original would have never watched/found the original video to begin with

    • @sirdamned9272
      @sirdamned9272 Месяц назад

      The mistake is basically assuming that react videos "take over the momentum" of the originals by overshadowing it in the algorithm. So for example, someone makes a video about fast food: RUclips starts pushing this video: but then bam... a much bigger channel makes a reaction video, and suddenly the algorithm is pushing that video instead.
      But I really don't think it works this way: I think what happens is, people release a video that is going very well (view wise), but when those views slow down... they think there's something wrong or some external reason for it, and then they pin the blame on reactors.
      The reality is, Asmon's content is the only reason we're even watching half of these videos that we otherwise wouldn't be interested in... and when he _does_ react to something we find interesting, we subscribe (like you said). I do think _good_ react creators like Asmon who do not hold back at all on commentary are a net positive for creators.

      He will also not react to peoples' videos if they ask him not to. That's what Josh Strife Hayes did.
      But more often than not, Asmongold brings attention to people who would've otherwise not gotten it. The boost varies immensely though, but it has been enough to carry some channels to success like with kasii, which is why there's a joke about Asmongold having adoptive kids now.

    The very poor assumption that people make when their videos slow down that it must be because of reaction videos is not only false pattern recognition but also biased as the alternative is something that they would prefer not to believe - that their video was slowing down because it was going to slow down as videos inevitably do. It's a kneejerk surface level assumption with no data and reeks of willful ignorance. It's a very similar misconception like how so many people used to think piracy hurts video game sales then studies came out suggesting that it wasn't only not hurting it, it was helping it. What looks to be more accurate is that the react content is helping them reach audiences that would not have watched their content and gets them not only short term but long term viewership increases.

    • @challenge8126
      @challenge8126 Месяц назад

      Reaction video sure does give you reach to bigger audiences, but it sure doesn't give them long-term viewership. I have no hate towards Reactor or Asmon, but you can see someone called Narc. People used to watch his content, but since Asmon would react to it, people would not watch his video and wait for Asmon to react to it. also asmon would get 100K+ views on narc video and he would get very less also he won't gain much subs from asmon video and very little who does sub to his channel they won't sub to him for his content but because asmon react to it and they will just be like dead subscriber that won't come back watch his videos or anything.

    • @GingerPrimeGaming
      @GingerPrimeGaming  Месяц назад

      I would agree, but we're not talking about a slow down, that does happen, we're talking about a cliff dive timed to when a reaction gets posted. Hope that clarifies.

  • @GitGudFox
    @GitGudFox Месяц назад +4

    I think it's pretty normal for a video to slow down after 5 days. You see it with even the largest content creators. Look at a playthrough of "Oxygen Not Included" from Markiplier. Each episode gets like a 50% reduction in viewership, and after about 5 episodes, it stabilizes at like... 700,000 views which is extremely low by Markiplier's standards.
    The first 3 days is most of the typical video's growth unless you've made a video with ongoing historic value like an insane video game guide that remained relevant years later or a wild funny cat video that people go back to watch years later.

    What I sometimes do when I watch an asmon react video is... well, he always includes a link to the original video in the description so I open it up in a new tab and simultaneously play it on mute while I watch the react video. From what I looked up, it still counts as a view (even though it's muted).
    It'd be pretty good if we just established a new online etiquette of just playing the OG video in a separate tab while watching the react video. It really works out perfectly because the react video is always going to be longer than the original so it'll be done playing by the time you finish the react video.
    But yeah, if we could somehow make the etiquette of react videos always including a link to the OG video AND the viewer always opening it up in a separate tab (muted) while watching the react video. Everyone wins and no one is really inconvenienced.

    you consistently speaking in an honest voice is one of the reasons I keep up with your videos. thank you for asking everyone to have more integrity as well. tho, imo, a lot of people need social skills classes. the amount of people who don't have basic "active listening" skills is embarrassing. people have opinions. so even if everyone was honest and rational: if someone can't understand another person's perspective, you're still looking at a pointless argument about to start.
    there are so many different elements required for healthy communication. if you ever need more ideas for your message of hope, healthy communication skills is a good place to start. bad communication causes so so much unnecessary damage to people's mental health and their relationships.
    being a decent human being is hard tho. challenges like "be honest" are supremely difficult. people are impulsive and egotistical by nature. learning how to keep true to what you believe you should be is a lifelong project. regardless of what your ideal self is. if you can break big challenges like "be honest" into explicit tasks, I'd recommend doing so. since it's so hard to notice your own progress in these things.

    I watched this whole video and I watch Asmon's content regularly. You can disagree with Asmon or hate the game of youtube, but to insinuate that him watching someone else's content is tanking their viewership is wild. He always talks very highly about video's he feels are well done, he engages with them, he posts the link on his live stream and encourages his audience to give the video a watch. It's devoid of logic to assume this is stealing views. I would argue in most cases this is shining a very bright light on lower popularity streamers and actually increasing their views.
    Also, Ginger, I think you should familiarize yourself with a realistic view of mental health. I recommend Jordan Peterson on this subject. Mental health's definition has been butchered in our zeitgeist and most people severely misunderstand this concept. I would venture to say you as well given your breakdown at the end of this video.

    Honestly if anyone has a problem with reaction videos, they should take it up with RUclips. There’s no reason that RUclips can’t credit both creators with the views from the reactors video. Seems like a simple fix. You have to fill a bunch of stuff out before you upload anyways, why not ask for a link to the original video if you’re uploading a reaction video? And that video can automatically share the views.

Most of these people are finding anything to complain about instead of enjoying what's there, woke is mostly a buzz word to use when someone doesn't like something. If you bring up these games as being woke now people will go "NAH UH!" but you can look back pre-release to the discussion surrounding these games.

The problem with the concept of DEI is that its based on fulfilling a quota(for pandering or meeting an investor requirement) or pushing a dichotomous narrative. They say they push inclusiveness but they instead direct exclusion and hate towards white people and men.

      This take misses a lot of important context. We don’t live in a world where game developers are completely free to make the art they want. Many face real pressure from woke activists on social media or from media publications, who sometimes use bullying tactics or threats of bad coverage to force creators to conform to their agenda. Look at the difference in coverage between a game like Dragon Age and others-it’s often clear that towing the party line plays a big role in how certain games are received by the media.
      People invest a lot of time, money, and emotion into their favorite franchises. When those franchises are altered for political reasons-reasons that the core fanbase doesn’t agree with-it’s natural to feel upset. What’s worse is that media outlets and developers often dismiss any criticism as if you’re the problem for not agreeing, resorting to ad hominem attacks rather than engaging in real dialogue.
      Diversity of thought took a massive hit during all of this. Before Elon Musk took over Twitter, it was difficult to see real debates or diverse opinions because anything dissenting was removed or banned. During the lockdowns, the woke mobs had such a tight grip on public discourse that it felt like there was only one “acceptable” way to think. We’re only just starting to see a recovery from this kind of censorship.
      These woke ideas have also harmed minorities. While activists claim to push for inclusivity, many people have become more hostile toward minorities, wrongly blaming them for these changes instead of the activists responsible. As a result, the world has actually become less safe and more divisive. This alone is a reason to fight against these ideas, to avoid living in an increasingly polarized and hostile world.
      And finally, the range of “allowable opinion” seems to shrink more each day, with the majority being increasingly sidelined in favor of extreme, narrow views. This isn’t just about gaming-it’s a broader cultural issue that’s affecting how people engage with entertainment, and it’s not something you can just brush aside.

      @@Katie-hb8iq The only reason the world is increasingly hostile and divided is because people like yourself fall for the culture war trap. Divide and conquer. Keep the ignorant masses fighting over nonsense so they don’t band together and hold the politicians and corporations accountable. Stop falling for it. So do you consider yourself right wing because you disagree with DEI? I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what DEI it is. It’s just been co-opted by right wing loons. And what is ultra far left I keep hearing the far left. The far left the far left, but no one has defined what’s so objectional to being left-wing.

    • @NotAGoodUsername360
      @NotAGoodUsername360 Месяц назад

      Let me simplify it for you:
      DEI and the far left is a political ideology that champions the interests of visible minorities to such an extreme degree that it becomes a supremacist movement that actively discriminates against what is perceived to be an oppressive majority.
      Despite the acronym DEI standing for "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion," the on the ground reality of these programs is ultimately *Exclusion* and *Conformity* in order to achieve Equity, which demands that all minorities have equal outcomes of success and an equal share of representation regardless of actual statistical prominence (IE, demanding 50% POC representation in an area where only 12% of the population is POC). The only way such Equity can be achieved is via nepotism and discriminatory hiring practices.

    I think this whole gender hysteria is kinda ....a nothingburger.
    People are whining about ohhhhh they took out the pronouns ahhhhh the sky is falling. Didn't say a damn thing about Elden Ring doing it.
    I think in upcoming games like the new dragon age.... it's a RPG... if you're not forced to use it, I don't really see the outrage. like.... just don't use it.
    You can be a manly man if that's how you want to create your character, I don't get why you would care about why they give the option. It's 2024, the whole LGBT thing in gaming has been here for decades. Baldur's Gate 3, all of the dragon age games, mass effect, and many many more. Japan itself has kind been on the forefront of it for a very long time, with the whole cross dressing or trans characters being a feature in anime as far back as the 90s from my recollection.
    It's just a nothing burger I don't understand why the anti-woke crowd whips themselves in to a frenzy over something they don't have to use. They can be male or female, straight, white, whatever.
    If they had made it so you COULDN'T be those things, then yeah okay i'd get it then.
    On the main subject of react content, i'm very pro reaction content, I love seeing people discover new things and listening to their thoughts and impressions on whatever it is they are reacting to, like seeing all the tears of joy from the new linkin park single.
    But i've been saying for years now that youtube should implement a system where it adds the views and such to the OP algorithemically, so if their video gets 500k, and a reaction gets 1 mil, the algorithem sees it as the OP getting 1.5mil.

      Yeah, I don't really care if there's a genderless option for you to create a character. I'm pretty conservative in how I view the issue personally, but I don't understand or care about the outrage when the options to be whatever you identify as are given to you.
      I think, in fact, that when I do finish my character creation system, that I will give everyone the option to be themselves, because why wouldn't I? I'm a mixed-race straight guy, but why should I tell you that you have to be a mixed-race straight guy when you play my game? I don't see the point.

Understand who created the LGBTQ movement, what his goals were, and what the tenants of the ideology are, then follow how it his crept into all facets of our society and has recently made it into LAW in Canada. Compelled speech is required in Canada for pronouns. If you don't see that as a problem, you don't deserve to live in a free country.
