I've always regarded the OM-28 as a great "middle ground" between a D-28 and a 000-28; you get the smaller, more comfortable body of a 000 but you get that long scale length which helps the guitar to project a little better and push out some more volume, like a dread. For some reason Martin discontinued the OM-18, I owned one at one point and liked it for similar reasons - and wish I still had it. Oh well. The OM-28 is a great offering from Martin and should not be slept on!

Hey Ian, I always love watching your demo's. They're some of the best on RUclips. I'm currently in the market for a new guitar for $1700 or less. As someone who has been a wide range of acoustic's, what would your top 3 acoustic to check out in that price range.
Hey Joseph! Thanks for the note. For new guitars, I'd pretty much be checking out the Eastman catalog and seeing what spoke to me and what might work for my playing style. I also like the Martin Road series. You could also hunt around for a used J45 studio or J35 Faded - again, depending on your playing style and needs.
Lovely sound. Have you had the chance to try the new Yamaha's (FG9R/M) yet? Wondering how they compare to the D28.
I had a chance to play both when the Yanaha rep stopped by the shop. They were excellent. Didn't do a direct comparison or anything but was really impressed
@ianmeadows6351 thank you. Considering either of these atm. I live in nowhere so I got no chance to try before I buy. My only worry is I have small hands.
Does anyone know if the OM-28 currently has stained black or natural ebony fingerboards?
