I saw this tour in February of 04. And if anyone of his fans had any clue about how he was feeling we would have made him stop and rest. Almost makes want to cry watching this. He was phenomenal on this tour so… I was literally sitting on the stage with front row seats with my brother. There was no barriers between the audience and Bowie and everyone had a blast. Bowie would come up to us while singing and mess up my hair and goof off with us… it was really unusual to see any concert like that much less than that of David fricking Bowie. I remember really digging his black cargo pants. He kept asking to have the house lights turned on and kept saying how everyone in the audience were so damn good looking…. I wish I could find a recording of that brilliant performance. February 07 2004 dodge theater
So sad but also so classy. Amazing he even tried to continue. Bless him for even trying, but also such a sad way for that tour to end. Through no fault of his own of course, but it was just such a spirited tour. David was finally able to embrace his past, not hide behind anything, and just have FUN in a live show with a brilliant trip down every part of his catalogue. To see this show that got caught, and the next show where he suffered through chest pains admirably before smartly cancelling the rest of the tour... its just sad he couldn't revel in finishing such a brilliant tour. And have the same fun at the very end he seemed to have the whole way through. Genuinely hope he found some solace in that last 10 or so years after this cause he deserved it after this gift of a tour to everyone.
Me duele verlo ... 😢
I haven't seen this before I didn't wanna start watching knowing what David was going through but I did watchi and I just don't know how he carried on but all I know is David bowie one off total professional and you will not see or hear anybody like him again

Hi. It was not recorded by me, but I guess by a person named Tana Ferry. Who knows?
Sadly, staying on stage longer probably contributed to the severity of the damage that was done to his heart. Gail Anne Dorsey described him as being very pale and collapsing the moment he came off stage. The episode was very serious and many around him were bracing for the worst. It seems that this experience set the wheels in motion for other health problems down the road and eventually led to his untimely death from cancer in 2016 at the age of 69. He was larger than life to me and I still find it hard to believe he is gone. 😊
He collapsed off-stage after his last concert in Germany. He was rushed to the hospital and had emergency angioplasty. He suffered at least 2 heart attacks in 3 days. Amazing he lived as long as he did.
I was there and back then everyone thought he had problems with neck spine, the band played 2 more instrumental songs alone on stage before he came back and finally ended up the show, noone was angry and people applauded like 10 minutes, btw the whole show was disaster, first the led panel didnt work so the projection did not work like on the rest of the tour and after first song bowie did middle finger on sound engineer and said fuck you into the mic :D
Why did he try to keep going when he was in that much pain? It’s good to be dedicated at things but not to the point of putting your life at risk. I will miss him forever
Well you see, it can feel like just really bad heartburn/indigestions. In clinics you see posters saying "don't die of indigestion", because it is fairly common to mistake the two. My uncle awoke in the night and thought he just needed to go take an antacid and alone in the middle of the night, didn't realise that it was a heart attack instead and couldn't call out for my aunty in the other room and his life ended that night. David was a consummate professional, probably a decent amount stubborn too and didn't want to disappoint his fans and just wanted to play through it, thinking that the pain would ease when the pills he mentioned kick in, before realising that he needed to stop. Such a top guy that is sadly missed.
Omg I have a video just like that (or is this maybe actually MY video??? It really seems to be exactly the same even though it says "by Tanaferry" 😬) I never shared mine online and also hardly to anyone else for that matter apart from someone who helped me to transfer it to DVD out of respect to David. :'( Bit sad to see it on RUclips now, but ok, suppose it doesnt really matter anymore these days. Still incredibly difficult to see him in so much pain. And he did indeed think it was just a pinched nerve back then. So incredible he did a complete show just two days later at the Hurricane Festival. And to me he seemed alright there. I had written a sign, asking if he was ok, and after a few songs just put it away as I thought, ok I see that he is ok again... 😢
I mean, I know people payed to go to that concerts but... I don’t think that excuses him to keep going with the concert. Heart attacks are no joke, that was a stupid thing to do :/
@ unbelievable he was allowed to do that concert in Germany two days after this happened. What were his doctors thinking? Whilst upsetting to watch, this proves what a professional David Bowie was, he never liked to cancel a show without good reason unlike the wishy washy so called music stars of today who cancel a show at the drop of a hat just because they are feeling slightly unwell with a cold or something. David Bowie was a true star for a variety of reasons, others have a role model in him they will find impossible to really live up to.
@@Wishful-Thinking Stop it. There are no doctors out there with your when you are on tour. After what came out from his musicians that worked with him,. he had suffered numerous heart attacks prior as well. He might had quit the drugs and drinking. But he smoked 3 packs of cigarettes per day.
@@Wishful-ThinkingActually he cancelled at least two concerts during my time of following him. The second Roseland gig in 2000 due to laryngitis, and Toulouse in 2003, after he got a bit ill in Nice and cut that concert short (but still reacted to my sign and wished me a Happy Birthday ❤)
I am sorry to be the party pooper but please stop being so impressed by his heroism. He never knew he was having a heart attack, are you serious? Had he known, he would have been taken away by the emergency services within minutes. No one, regardless how brave, would just keep chopping wood or singing unless you're an ignorant without a minimal self-preservation instinct. He only thought it was some minor issue, not a heart attack. He was extremely lucky too because many heart attacks just strike you like a lightning bolt, you cannot even utter a word, let alone singing. If one of the big vessels rupture, you're gone within seconds.... How brave, he kept singing knowing he just had a heart attack👽👽👽....what did they teach in schools today?
My God, he is so polite and self possessed while having a heart attack! What an extraordinary soul.
Heart attack right on the stage and he continued singing even though he was in agonizing pain😢 A true professional and in my eyes a hero!👍
That was in Germany, Scheeßel.
Unbelievable class for a man going through a heart attack.
See this for the first time now, I am crying. My hero for 50 years. So long ago now and I can feel his pain. Love you so much David.
It's the first time I see the video of this incident. It's strange seeing him struggling like that, kind of eerie.

Very sad to see this. I’m glad he stopped the show early - his health was more important than the show.

Goodness me. Just incredible to see him trying to carry on. Always putting others ahead of himself. ❤
Bowie is the king of cool! He even made a heart attack look glamorous!
The pain singing plus the vibration of noise with the guitar 😢😢😢 miss him terribly since 2016 to this very moment a TRUE LEGEND 😢😢❤😢😢
He was so polite and kind person😢 so sad to see this💔

This just made me respect this man so much more!! That's Straight up legend shit right my there!!!
This breaks me into pieces ⭐️🦋🦋 RIP
I saw him just a few weeks earlier in Brisbane.
Same here . He was brilliant.
That's a difficult watch

He didn't know he was having a heart attack most likely.

the Man Who Sold the World had a heart attacc live in 2004!!

This man really was crazy
😢we may losted him right there after gig had rest for long time 🎉
Wonder what he would have made of circus 19
Probably the same as the deli llama. But I'd like to think not.
this angina attack was likely caused buy years of smoking

No point in Quitting Booze and Drugs, but Carry on Heavy Smoking ......😢
What an incredibly dangerous thing to say.
@@ScottieWallacesurely you get the sentiment
He quit smoking eventually. Idiot.
Was this also his last tour concert ever?
David Bowie's final show took place two days after, on June 25, 2004, at the Hurricane Festival in Scheessel, Germany.

He quit the booze and the drugs... But continued smoking close to 3 packs of cigarettes per day. That'll narrow your arteries.
Actually he also had quit smoking by then but not very long before, nearly two years maybe
Correct. He also probably was genetically disposed for heart problems. His father died of a heart attack.
@@ivankaramasovNo, he died of pneumonia. Iv'e read David's biography.
@@CatherineBirch-m5r He had a heart attack in 2004 which ended his world tour prematurely. He did not die of pneumonia, but of liver cancer.
