So these pilots are "manufactured", they augmented them by injecting "coral" into them. Then they connect their nerves to the mech and they sell them to people called "handlers". Handler walter bought unit 617, 619, and 620 and sent them on a mission. Most of them die except 617, so to replenish his "hounds," he goes back to the scientist to buy 621, which is assumed to be you, the player character, augmented human C4-621.
@@Regless0000 it probably is that or it's spiritual successor for this timeline of the Armored Core Games. I do wonder, if the next batch of games we will get is going to be more Armored Core Games. because Armored Core seems to work with generations of games. each game in a generation being tied together with a story.
This trailer has cemented the fact that this game, despite being a niche genre, has a legitimate chance at a second year in a row for game of the year for Fromsoftware. And while this is a "story" trailer, you have to keep in mind that a big part of Fromsofts story telling is in self insinuation and inner reflection. They give you a tease, and make you earn the story. They dont tell you a story, you live it. And its why this company is so so incredible.
In the very first game, extreme debt and persistent failure earned you entry, into the compulsory *"Human Plus"* program. A transference of still living weight of material into _something more._ What was once your mind and flesh, became forfeit to your debtors. You're not a person anymore. You're property. There may be a body on that table but the human is no longer there. They've gone beyond the boundary of their own humanity and become the core of an armored machine... . . . _the augmented human_ - an *Armored Core.*
It's funny that the trailer seems like it doesn't tell much, but it's actually setting the stage very well. - Mechs are operated and used in warfare - They are launched at opponents that seem easily able to tear them apart. - Even with a complete wipeout of the unit after the epic struggle, all we get out of it is that cold "mission complete" - These pilots are bought and objectified, 621 at least called an "it".
So basically this is human plus times 100. Human plus being a thing in older armored core games where the pilot had more accessibility to his mech. This looks like it's taking it up a notch to where the human is basically living through the armored core. Handler Walter seems to be in charge of these augmented humans who seem to be unable to function on their own. Giving them 1 purpose. To do his bidding. There's clearly a war going on, between factions/corporations for the super dangerous power substance called "Coral" but that's all we know so far.
Welcome Home my Fellow Ravens and Lynx's. We have been called on again. Boot your AMS's and get your ACs prepared for War. Welcome Rookies to our World.
The trailer is essentially the tutorial mission where you get completely bodied by the first boss then wake up in a mysterious second location lmfao. Sound design is also on fuckin point 👌
This isn't right. The first three ACs that are fighting are 617, 620, and 619. Walter presumably sent them with orders to finish the mission no matter what and his having to replace them afterwards with 621 which is presumably the player. In the Armour Core world money comes above all and people can become debt slaves :D

The operating table scenes are from the aftermath. The wrecked AC mech at the end is used in the cover picture of a wrecked AC mech. What kinda sets part of the tone of the general series is the balance between the machine and the person piloting it. Human augmentation is a semi common theme in Armored Core and better defines towards what an Armored Core is to the series and different from other in game mech variety and their behaviors. The player pilot is exposed to all kinds of intense mission scenarios meant to test their skills and how prepared they are. They often work as a gun for hire, but will come face to face with their humanity. As a veteran to the series, I can tell you the fight scene looks a lot like how the common player might complete a mission by hanging on a thread in the rest of the series. The operating table scenes would suggest the pilots are indeed augmented to be able to keep going or handle their tech.
For context, the setting in the series is some unspecified ‘great cataclysm’ that made Earth inhospitable on the surface, and so need to survive underground for half a century. This new trailer could serve as the game's introduction. The previous gameplay trailer depicted C4-621's first mission after he was awakened and landed from orbit. There are a lot of similarities between this story and Human Plus from AC1. Keep Dying and get into debt -$50,000 6 times. Your body is shown being experimented on. C4- 621 is us, the player. 6+2+1 = 9 NINE-BALL and "C4". Nineball was Consciousness Number 4. No way that's a coincidence. This also supports the Human Plus theory in that, in AC1, when you acquire Human Plus, your name is reassigned to "Rebel" with a 3 digit number afterwards.
In before VaatiVidya breaks it down in excruciating detail. Fromsoft is pretty masterclass in cryptic storytelling. The trailer depicts a flashback of a mission prior to the present (?) On the mission are Units 617, 619, and 620 (one or more of those assigned "names" might pop up in the game). It's unclear what the objective is, but it involved the infiltration of some sort of facility that's being guarded. Based on the first trailer it's a fair assumption it involved the new energy source, or something connected to it, as it's the major premise of all the fighting amongst the mega corporations that will appear. These units seem to struggle with the large tank that pops up, but are determined to the very end, to the point that they sacrifice themselves to stop it and the large lazer from firing. Turns out 617 completes the mission. Whether or not that's him being operated on or not after the mission is unclear (which would imply he's been given a new number "621" along with the Armored Core). There's likely some connection with 621 and the others from the mission. There's some more speculation to be had regarding Human Plus (Give Armoredcorelore's channel a look for a brief breakdown) and how that might be a thing attributed to the player character. But yeah, it all depicts a very morbid dystopia in which pilots are given numbers as names and are regarded as disposable assets, to be shelved, used and discarded. Very interesting how this and FF16 are straddling along similar themes of multiple factions fighting over a finite resource, relying on people that higher ups classify and treat as less than human.
it's been part of the norm for from soft to make all their games dark, starting with King's Field, Armored Core, Dark Souls. And I'm always here for it lol.
@itsjavachip it's not even that it's darker, it's that they're giving story details. Historically, AC games are pretty sparse with lore and story telling. This trailer reveals quite a lot.
As you can see from the comments. We all dont know diddly doody about what this story is gonna be. Most Armored Cores is always about Corporations paying the mechs/mercenaries to fight on their behalf. Theres a bunch of theories, but nothing is solid yet
What I glean from this trailer is, 621 on the slab is next up after 617, 619 and 620 "Alpha Squad" are gone...or is 617 gone? he reports back to Walter mission complete, would Walter even recover 617 if he is so heavily damaged? In the first cinematic trailer you see an AC scrounging for parts, an AC left behind? It looks to me like 621's consciousness is being up loaded to the core. 617 says "Hounds entering combat zone" they are on Handler Walters leash. The red cable going up to the operating table is not blood...it's Coral, the substance the Corps and Mercs are fighting over. It's also used as a drug as some enemies were referred to as dosers in Vaati Vidya's gameplay brake down, are Walters Hounds addicted? In the first game play trailer the callsign raven is used...has 621 broken Walters leash, no longer a Hound but now a Raven? Just some guesses.
I’m extremely excited after seeing the story trailer. AC6 is keeping the atmosphere dark as it should be. Essentially you’re a mercenary fighting for control over a very valuable resource called Coral. This trailer tells us that we are basically NOBODY…just a expendable soldier for our boss Walter. Walter is ruthless and he could give 2 fucks on whether we live or die….even referring to 621 as an "it" crazy to think about😅
In the first Armored Core game, if you went far enough into debt, you would be involuntarily placed into the "Human Plus" program. You get augmented with new abilities and sometimes new parts, but gain no more experience because you are now owned by a corporation. This game seems to be shining a big spotlight on that.
Also sorry for the small pause in video (which hopefully isnt noticable): chat were all telling me the audio was too low, so we paused to adjust. I edited all the audio levels in post before uploading, so you shouldnt notice the original audio issues!
Best theory that I can come up with for this trailer it looks like our original squad was completely wiped out and we were almost dead if it wasn't for Walter however going through that length just to keep someone alive it means we're not as expendable as anybody first thought looks like we were Hound 617 but now here's the question why change our designation from 617 to 621 why are we using someone else's call sign and it doesn't explain why he sent us to Rubicon why just a single mercenary and Walter and his hounds are known established mercenary outfit across multiple different planets so why just us?
Actually wrong, mate. the ACs that "died" in the mission were 617, 619 and 620. The pilot on the table is 621. Handler Walter is buying a new pilot, since he just lost at least 2 of them. The first one to go down lost all vital signs, meaning he died. the remaining two didn't seem to die. just "lost", meaning the AC probably is just junk at that point, with the pilot sitting inside waiting to be picked up or something. It also explains why Handler Walter only seemingly buys one new pilot, 621, who is the player character most likely. He has still 2 left of the last mission. If you want I could go copy paste another comment I made for another video where I analyzed the trailer further to proof that 617 and 621 are not the same person.
I bet most of the story will be revealed in FromSoft fashion: with item descriptions and environmental story-telling. It's actually been a staple of FromSoft since the earlier AC games. Most of the in-depth parts of the story would be hidden within item descriptions, including your own mech parts. Seriously, try reading one of the item descriptions in any of the games and they'll tell you a lot about who the big players are in the world and whats really going on. P.S.: The Human Plus program is fucking gnarly.
This will be a bit long so buckle up lol. Perhaps what’s happening at the end is those people are somehow linking our player character up to a mech like through their consciousness or something? This is a brand new continuity and all so everyone’s going into this pretty blindly. Some points to suggest this is actually what’s happening is firstly, the character being operated on is called 621 and if you look closely at the Armored Core that is positioned right above him, it also has a 621 in its serial number/code or whatever. It could simply be his combat designation, though the mech being positioned in such a way is quite unique plus 621’s old Core was very damaged in the field as we saw so it’s probably not that one. It’s most likely a new mech built just for him. Secondly (this one is more theoretical but) we can clearly see the corpse that is 621 still alive based off the vitals screen with an active BPM. If he was dead they probably couldn’t transfer him to the mech. Another thing is how the body is clearly breathing with vapor coming out from where their mouth would be, all up until the mech turns on at which point we don’t see anymore vapor coming from the body (he is still alive though based on the vital monitor which is important). The Core turning on with its main light glowing red might be 621 occupying his new body. From Soft loves their cryptic storytelling though and honestly I love it lol. Being forced to come up and connect all the dots with the narrative is something a lot of games don’t do anymore, but I love that kind of stuff.
Most AC trailers or openings are like this. Doesn't really tell you anything besides robots and war is bad until you beat the game and you can look back in hindsight. So nobody really knows what's going on unless From Soft released some info I'm not aware of. Armored Core has like 4-5 timelines going on and this one was stated as being new. If you want what they did release: What we know for sure is there was a planet, Rubicon-3 and they found a mysterious substance on it. Well, it blew up and burned the entire solar system. A long time past and Rubicion is accessible again. So every money grubbing cooperation is flocking to Rubicon to claim this material. Your an augmented human thrown into this situation as a mercenary on the behest of the infamous handler Walter. Those where the last batch of Walter's men, now it's your turn.
Chat were telling me the audio was too low and I was checking to see if it got better when I turned the audio up. It’s also why there’re a couple of frames missing in the middle - I had to pause and check with them/adjust further. Just unfortunate circumstances

What we know for sure is there was a planet, Rubicon-3 and they found a mysterious substance on it. Well, it blew up and burned the entire solar system. A long time past and Rubicion is accessible again. So every money grubbing cooperation is flocking to Rubicon to claim this material. Your an augmented human thrown into this situation as a mercenary on the behest of the infamous handler Walter. Those where the last batch of Walter's men, now it's your turn.
just amazing
Takes some skill to look at another screen whilst the best bits of the trailer are going 😂
Chat were telling me the audio was too low and I was checking to see if it got better when I turned the audio up. It’s also why there’re a couple of frames missing in the middle - I had to pause and check with them/adjust further. Just unfortunate circumstances
