So funny watching you capsize and seeing your canoe drift down the river without you 🤣🤣🤣.
*You sure did have some fun times on the Whanganui River & so glad you enjoyed it. Hey a bit of historic info for you. Do some research on 'James K. Baxter' a poet & playwright, in the late 1960s he started a commune at Jerusalem, a settlement with a strong Māori and Catholic history on the Whanganui River. He was also known as an activist for the preservation of Māori culture. He is one of New Zealand's most well-known and controversial literary figures.*
It was so much fun. I still stand by its the best thing we've done since getting to NZ! We'll check his work out thank you so much! Interesting that he started a commune!
A lot of fun 👍👍 it looked a bit hairy there for a few moments when you ended up in the river 🤦♂️😂
The first rapid 😂 glad to know we weren't the only ones that fell in because it was very hairy! Glad we went for the 2 day trip as we found out the day after we left the river they had to get everyone out because of the cyclone!
Oh my, well done for getting your canoe back, it was going on its own adventure! 😂💖
There was a moment where we didn't think we'd ever see it again 😅
How cool was that 🙏 although I was expecting to see all your dry barrels floating away down river 😂
So did we 😂 luckily they were tied on tight enough otherwise we wouldn't have had any tents to sleep in!
I just finished my two month trip and have returned to the US. It was so hard to leave. I already miss everything so much, so having you two continue to share your adventures is so uplifting! The waterfalls really looked magical. Are you considering doing the day-tour of Doubtful Sound in the South Island? There must be a million waterfalls 😊 looking forward to the next video!
Thanks so much for your comment! I can imagine, it's such a beautiful country. Yes we'd definitely love to do Doubtful Sound 😀
Hi Mr. & Mrs. Not another adventure...lol..Love calm music..The rear is the a strong paddler and the front just lead the way. what are those buckets/containers between two seats? Never set a canoe side way against of the current..Ahhh.. Great job!!! Maybe you, two try waite raft when you go back the UK. The flow of the waterfalls suggest me there have been heavy rain...Now do you know why I like kayaking? lol I take my hat off for your bravery.
Hello! They're dry barrels. They just keep our stuff dry like tents and electronics etc. Glad they did their job when we capsized! 😂
Yeah we're very novice, we do want to try white water rafting though!
Yeah there was a cyclone about 2 weeks before we did the trip, and a cyclone just after we finished!
🛶🌊🏞 This was such an amazing adventure! You guys were so brave to tackle the Whanganui River, even if it didn't start off smoothly 😂👍 The scenery is just breathtaking, and it's so cool that the river is legally recognized as a living being with the same rights as a person! 🌿🌺🌄
Thank you! Every time we came across a rapid I just thought 'we're going in' 😂
I think a couple of other rivers in the world are now recognised as well, but Whanganui was the first! 🏞️🌿🍃
Well that's an inauspicious start.
Yeah it didn't start well 😂
HI! :) I find your video very informative. We are planning to do the 5-day trip in Jan2025. I noticed you have 5 barrels total, and they are all the same sizes (60L I assume). I thought you are given 1x60L and 1x30L barrels each - can you actually request for specific sizes and number?
@@OliviaPPonce that is a very good question! I'm afraid I can't remember! It might be worth getting in contact with the company you're doing it with to clarify. Sorry we can't be of more help!
Well, thanks, I'm taking the jetboat!
Haha don't blame you! The dip was refreshing though 😂😂
Superb video Please visit srilankan
Thank you! We would love to one day!
not ideal to travel between the dates of january 5th-15th as the natives have a annual trip along that river and no one else is aloud to use except maori from the local tribe
That's really good to know!
