I left this key in my pocket during a swim and it wrecked the functionality. It worked again after pulling it apart and cleaning it out with circuit cleaner fluid. But I find the range with the key has deteriorated (for both the dunked key and the perfect spare) over time. Secondly (this is a great story), I actually lost my key while on an away trip and spent the entire night rummaging through the AirBNB looking for it. After realising there was an extremely remote possibility the key accidentally got thrown in the outside wheelie bin with other rubbish, I came up with the idea of using the proximity sensor by wheeling each of the bins to the back of the car, until one of them actually let me open the boot. It took just 5 more minutes, through the process of elimination for me to find the garbage bag that had the keys and recover it.
my 2016 m235i wouldn't close windows if I hold the lock button on the keyfob, BUT you can do that by holding that comfort access touch sensitive button on your door handle. All those features can be "coded" on or off with ESYS
Just a correction, the keys that have comfort access has a battery which is just to get in or to do the comfort access, but putting the key next to that key symbol, uses RFID, similar to your credit card, has nothing to do withy battery charging, and you can't charge the newer keys by putting them into the slot, the OLD keys yes, the new ones no

I'm surprised that you had to code it and thanks for sharing that. Unfortunately, You wouldn't be able to retrofit the doors as the coup doors are longer than the sedans.
Having trouble with my key.. sometimes the car won't respond to locking/unlocking/trunk buttons. Also won't comfort access unlock/lock the door unless the key is super close to it. I've replaced the battery in the key fob and charged up my car battery but the problem persists.. any way I can fix it? Also when in the car, it won't start up unless I have the key near the start button.
there are several aerials in the car which detect the keys' one is probably defective, unless you have INPA or ISTA, you need to get it diagnosed at a dealer or an indy shop
in some regions, this is a safety feature, this is so that (in BMW opnion) you can't accidentally trap somones hand or fingers in the car. They probably had some law suits, can you bypass it, YES, my 2 BMW,s had this feature

Actually have been looking at Fritz videos because now that my mechanical breakdown is about to expire I'm doing all the aftermarket work on it. It's a great daily driver, although I'm getting an electric suv for a daily in the next year or 2. This will be my weekend and date car. After 6 years I have lost no love for it.
Hey Fritz, my 2015 228i can make Bluetooth calls but no music sound, yes I have deleted the phone and turned on audio device on, I have the basic HK audio system n I know it because I replaced the screen for a Koason one watching your video. So what can be failing?
if your car has comfort access, you can not lock your key's in the car, there are aerials in the trunk and car, it detects the key and WILL NOT allow you to lock the car. Locking the key in your car will probably invalidate your insurance should you car get stolen, take your key with you, why would you ever try and lock your own key in the car

If you lose your car in a car park you can press the lock button like 5-10 times in a row and each time you press it after it will beep the horn.

My husband dropped my key fab into my face wax (fully submerged) and it still worked.

wax has no water, it doesnt conduct electricity, so that's why it was fine

The m235i doesn’t have trim around the window, same with all of the other f22 models.

I've only experienced this with a weak key battery. Does it do this to a specific key or all of them?
