      @@MGSVxBreakpoint he's obviously not schizophrenic, otherwise none of this would make sense and it wouldn't have been edited together so smoothly. This is just a talent. I don't know what you're talking about with "encouraging schizophrenia", because that has never been a non serious mental illness.

    • @kecukraftwork1988
      @kecukraftwork1988 2 года назад +4

      @@MGSVxBreakpoint First of all, your understanding of psychosis is appalling. What you're alluding to is not schizophrenia. Get that Hollywood ignorance out of your head. Schizophrenia =/= an individual physically enacting multiple identities; that would be closer to MPD - most recent known as DID. Schizophrenics that *do* experience cases of another embodiment, typically suffer with disembodied voices. Sometimes this is coupled with hallucinatory images of the voices (such as if the TV is speaking to them solely), but in most cases it is not; it is often isolated within the person's mind, and presents itself as a separate entity to the person with the condition. Even with DID, whereby a person possesses an unstable identity and may appear to be as two or more wholly different people at separate intervals, the two or more "personalities" might not get along, or may not even know the other exists. I've never heard of a case whereby they would try to interact and live out scenarios via video and editing - though that'd certainly make an interesting case study. So you'd be stretching it by a country mile even if you were to say that Joel's videos are evident of DID.
      Second of all, men have been dressing up as women in theatre, pantomime and film for years; longer than any of us have been alive. They've sometimes even taken up the role of the female love interest. Not sure about you, but if I was aiming for this particular style of humour, I'd rather film myself as my own love interest, than have to convince my male buddy to wear a dress, so that I might pretend to be his boyfriend and then publish it online.
      Third of all, Joel being his own girlfriend is part of the humour and charm. Like Caleb pretending to be (near enough) the only person to exist in his universe. Either get counselling for your sexual confusion, or take the joke for what it is.

      @@MGSVxBreakpoint If Joel was schizo we would probably know. Every youtube does shit that if looked at from any lens other than entertainment is weird. Most RUclipsrs are sitting in their rooms playing games, doing makeup, watching videos, etc and talking to a camera like its another person that they're having an conversation with. If you look at that in a literal sense then you think "Holy shit they're crazy" but if you look at it with the knowledge of what they're actually doing (making content for youtube) then they don't seem like crazy people. Joel is literally just acting which just so happens to be a skill. Pretty sure acting has never been considered a schizo exclusive activity.

    • @antonhowell4195
      @antonhowell4195 2 года назад +11

      @@yerpderp6800 I mean in the end it might not actually reflect anything from how they see relationships in real life. There's also a strong aspect of media having its own language, and it's assumed that a shot with this much importance put into it would advance the plot in some way.
      Which is also what makes this film so good, because on one hand you can interpret as a story with a plot that progresses or at least indicates a progression for the story, and on the other hand you can see it as a film without a plot. What I mean is that the plot boils down to just the word relationship, because that's all that happens. It's more of a collection of moments throughout a relationship that have no importance whatsoever to anyone outside the characters, including the audience. Which is genius because in order to see a story that you care about here, you are forced to empathize with the characters to imagine what these moments mean to them, and thus giving a huge amount of value to these characters (who are nameless, wink wink) and their story - because in a way, it's your own.

    I think this might be my favorite video from you. Its hilarious, heartwarming, and despite the fact that you're speaking to yourself in a wig, the conversations feel so genuine.

    I know that Joel said in one of his community posts that this video is performing at 10 of 10, but it’s still top tier content. The way he can depict such awkward situations with such heart - and BY HIMSELF - is truly incredible. Joel, never stop doing what you’re doing; it’s all top tier content.

    It's insane how he has such impeccable comedic timing and banter with.. himself. Lol it's like he's truly feeding off the energy of his co-star, but it's just him. That takes insane vision, to be so deliberate about both parts. And for it to be funny as hell too haha the man's a genius. Reminds me of an old favorite, job interview. Wonder what that German chap Wu is up to..

    The level of chemistry between Joel and himself is a level no mortal soul could ever hope to achieve

    Please turn some of these movies into future skits, maybe trailers or "scenes" from the movies. I think that'd be awesome!

    The acting is so good, I could completely ignore that they were the same person after one minute. Nice work.

    When the same man playing two characters got more chemistry and dynamic than most rom-com couples

    The most amazingly realistic part of this video is the little sleepy hum noises at 5:31

    honestly best part about girl joel is he doesnt even try to change his voice. its just his regular voice.

      I love it too cuz there's like a million sketches where when guys dress up for girl characters they also do obnoxiously high pitches as a joke. I think GameGrumps (although not really sketch youtubers) still do this joke since they started.

      Absolutely. I think it would really break my immersion if he was doing an exaggerated girl voice

    The movie description for "The Heart of the Equation" absolutely nails the cheesy way Netflix writes its descriptions.

    I want a relationship as good and fulfilling as the relationship that Joel has with himself.
