Every IT problem gets solved in a community board website from 2009
Damn 3 bots in a row, that's impressive
Sounds like car forums
because all the modern issues solved in the current decade just have the original poster saying "solved it" and closing the thread with nothing else.
Correction: someone in 2009 had the same vague error message as you
User replys "Thanks I solved it" with 0 explanation of what solved it
But the worst part is "Thanks guys i fixed it!" With no information on how it got fixed
The only thing worse is when they do figure out a fix and just say "nvm got it working"
Or when the first page of google results is from forums where other users are telling the OP to stop being lazy and Google it.
Or "Why don't you google it and click on the first thing that pops up"
Uh... you mean this thread that I am reading right now?
This is giving me unpleasant flashbacks to when I first started out coding
(That was a lie, I still can't figure out why my code isn't working and when it works, I also dk why)
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
"nvm got it working"
Yes, but HOW? TELL US WHAT DID YOU DO SO WE CAN DO IT TOO!
I will never again hunt down obscure tech bugs again without thinking of this video. Most relatable video I've ever seen. It captures the hopelessness and abandonment in a way I never thought possible. 10/10 love your stuff Joel
Nothing feels quite as lonely then realizing no one on the entire internet can help you with your tech problem
My exact thoughts, and condolences
exactly like my escape key only works on some programs on mac,
Even worse: a lot of people have the same problem and you find 10 different solutions, each of them has dozens of people commenting "thank god, this one worked for me!" and you just keep going like a lone wanderer and keep finding more problems along the way - parts of the interface are just missing for you for some reason and you dig deeper into more and more weird issues no one can help you with until you're about to cry
Yeah. Like ‘Step 4: click “Advanced Settings”’ but there’s no advanced settings option anywhere to be found
@@machete660 Lmao exactly - Now you're looking for help on why the setting is missing, digging deeper and deeper until you don't even remember why you were looking for a fix in the first place
Still haven't been able to change my Microsoft account, found a guy who had every problem I faced till the last part of the interface missing, chatted and somehow the guy solved it, told me the solution and still didn't work. At least I can proudly say I'm the person with the most bugged Microsoft account in the world.
if it's a youtube video, many of those are scams, fake accounts commenting to generate traffic.
"Select menu and click on the advanced settings." Then you select menu and the advanced settings option is greyed out and you have no idea why.
“Who? Who are the 12 people who found this helpful??”
I felt that. I FELT that.
The same people who click Dislike on this video. Agents of CHAOS.
Cats, mostly.

so he was in a old forum the whole time. thats pretty cool
Yeah haha the whole starting bit of him walking is him scrolling through tons of forums and sites before finally finding what he’s looking for lol it’s so witty
God this is so accurate. There's always that problem that no one ever had but you and that other guy on the forums from 12 years ago, that either comments "solved" and says nothing more, or simply got ignored by everyone on the forums.

"I'm surprised you found this old thread! Well, after I made that post 5 years ago I moved out of my van and went to live with my ex-wife. She had a Mac. -Random guy from Tom's hardware forum.

This is actually what Microsoft tech support forums feel like. They’re weirdly more sterile and almost offensively less helpful than most forums…
I find a lot of 3rd party IT forums equally hostile, but in the opposite way. Microsoft will have a lot of useless solutions and people saying they tried everything. 3rd party sites will have zero solutions and the case marked as [Solved]. Then when you try to find out what the fix was you get told you need to post your own logs, even if it's literally the same issue.
And the "12 people found this helpful" is so damn true. I'll see a dumb, generic answer from the Microsoft person assigned to that forum and it'll have that below it. IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. HOW IS IT HELPFUL?
Sooooo true, the MS forums are abysmally awful. In over a decade, I don't recall having ever found a helpful response on them. I still occasionally misclick a search result that leads me to one, and each time am still surprised how they can be so bad after scanning over a lengthy (repetitive) thread that answers nothing in the end.
Answers are generally answered in such an obtuse manner, without any context to the original question. They don't bother taking into account whether the person asking is competent and obviously tech-savvy, or an old grandma who is asking how to minimize a window, they answer it the same way regardless.
EA forums be worse, they just get mad at you
"We already have your money, why should we help you?" ~Joe McCeo
My favorite part is the look on Katie's face as she stares back at Joel through the fire 🤣
Katie's delivery, expressions, everything is just perfect.
Also, that stare, Jesus. Katie has absolutely killed someone in the woods before and hid their body.
The way Joel builds up in despair and finally burts into tears has me crying with him every single time
Burts
He Ernies into tears

The sheer panic and horror behind the "who!? who are these twelve people?" was breathtaking.
This is such a weird piece of trivia and it's hard to find good info, but this video has one of the most incredible like/dislike ratios of anything I can find. Not Pop Music Video smash hits, not heartfelt reunions of familymembers, not rousing speeches by beloved orators, nothing is as universally appreciated by its youtube audience.

This video captures perfectly that moment of despair and loneliness when you realize it's actually been five years and the one person you thought could help you is long gone with no solution to offer..
The words, "For the last week, I've been sending work emails" carried such a pure tone of genuine desperation, I nearly shed tears of empathy. Very well done
The scariest part is that this is based off a true story
Many, many stories, in fact, and how I wish it wasn't.

This resonates with me and I presume thousands of others on a level I didn't think possible.
The writing and acting is so perfect. The timing is astonishingly good. Just listen to the part where they're both describing the keyboard problem to each other.
Joel I’m not sure if you can read this but I’m actually a version of you from the future here to tell you that you are in fact handsome, always have been handsome, and quite frankly Joel I do not think the handsomeness will ever subside. This is your first and final warning. Please do not change anything about your handsome nature, life is pretty good right now on account of the handsome thing so if you could keep that going I’d probably be grateful or at the very least pretty okay about it and maybe even accepting of it
Thank you me from the future, this is very useful to know. I will continue being handsome because of this knowledge.

@@EnigmaticRPG You are correct in a way. They are contracted, usually very tech-illiterate people from a third world county just reading off a script. Once again, Joel is making the most relatable content on the platform.
The minute the girl started talking it hit my soul hard…we’ve all been there
I particularly find his visiting series to be relatable
Does anyone else get a sort of weird sadness when they see that someone they don't know has not been online for many years? It's hard to explain. Kind of like a "I'll never get to know them" feeling.
recently i really, really wanted to get to know this girl and realized she didnt want to know me and well it felt like shit when shr ghosted me
I've visited many abandoned forums of old games many times and I know this feeling all too well. 8+ years since the last post, some of the last ones talking about where everyone has been or a friend that has passed away. Many many promising projects that have long since been abandoned with the last post usually being the creator talking about a hardware or irl issue preventing them from continuing it. And here I am many years after the last person. Wandering around this ruin of what was a lively home for many. Breaks my heart to see places like this. But I guess that's just how life is. You gotta move on, cant stay in the same place forever now can you.
@Skyblue Flash 10 years from now someone will see this, and wonder how you're doing.
In that case, let's get to know the poster! How you doin', StuartRobertM? Hows your mental health? What are your dreams? How was your day? My favorite color is white and blue, and I tried to shoot a zipline out of a crossbow today. Doesn't work like in the movies. XP

Ok Katy from microsoft support has the BEST VOICE for this role like God damn it sounds like an automated message. The guy's face when he refuses to make eye contact and leaves is priceless too, so full of guilt and shame, not to mention Joel's consistent perfect acting which makes me think he just filmed a documentary. Why is EVERYBODY on this channel such good actors????
Good direction, I believe. Joel is Tarantino tier talent.
@@retroxify seconded, comment for visibility
They all do a good job of "awkward", as does everyone in Joel's videos. Even his RPG ones. I think that's tied to his age, the generation he's part of, where acting like you're awkward and helpless and don't know what to do, is de rigeur. Something something society something.
Hopefully he'll grow out of it, though what sort of videos will he make then? What sort of man will Joel grow up into?
@@greenaum Tarantino was an apt comparison. Not every talented director needs to be Spielberg or Ford Coppola. If you're good enough at what you do, folks will let you keep making the gratuitously violent love letters to 70's pulp - or the deeply awkward and real interactions of modern-day humans in all their dysfunctional weirdness.
Those misty fields and woods at the start of this are beautiful - they'd be such a good location for a music video 🍃🍂
Ngl, this one cuts me deep. I really felt the “5 years ago”

It makes me feel similar to when I see a cute kitten video posted 10 minutes ago with 4 dislikes on it. Who are these 4 people disliking a video about kittens?! Why?! What could possibly be so offensive about furry balls stumbling around and meowing that within 10 minutes 4 people said "Nope, hate it, its stupid and its bad." This one got me on the verge of tears. This hits so close. Wish this pain could go away. 😢
2:42 The most beautiful transition I've ever done seen.
When the other guy at the campfire disappears right after if you look closely you can see that Joel sheds a small tear. (3:24) I'm super impressed by Joel's ability to convey distress and grief in his line delivery and his facial expressions. I swear Joel is just as talented at acting as he is at filmmaking and writing screenplays.
I think it was a classic film trick where they just put a few eye drops in right before the shot but either way Joel is on point and totally sold it
he was born to do it so universum euqipped him with the needed talents 🤍
That 12 people found this helpful part got me.

The locations in Joel's videos are always so scenic and breathtakingly beatiful :O
You're a damn genius, Joel.
Joel's locations are consistently wonderful, his videos are downright eye-candy
@26 mic What makes me laugh is when someone thinks spamming on someone else's creative achievements will get people to watch their stuff.
@@brandon6759 Buddy, it's a bot. They link to other spam accounts that lead to viewer farm accounts so they can be sold off to advertisers. You may as well be talking to the 16th generation bot of just one shitty view farm account out of millions. Just report it and move along, do not engage with it.
Crazy how Joel can just capture the emotional feelings of something as outwardly mundane as IT troubleshooting and translate it into cinematography.
This guy never misses. He's filling shelf after shelf with bottles of lightning.
Exactly. It's kind of concerning me with how hard at it he's been, releasing non-stop HQ content that only gets better...and he's only like, mid-20's. How long can this man keep at it like this!
Goddamn dude. You nailed the feeling. Your best video yet.
This video is my favourite from you Joel, so far. I love the way it is shot, it's atmospheric.
