    I absolutely love strongmen competitions. Not only do they focus on functional strength unlike bodybuilding (vanity achieved through strength) or powerlifting (three stable, relatively static lifts is not functional strength, but still impressive), but the culture is the rawest form of positive masculinity. All about building oneself and each other up to overcome obstacles. It just happens that for these competitions, said obstacles are to the extremes of strength. They have a similar place in my heart as Amish barn raisings.

    "These are not norse hammers, they are Thor's hammers"
    That guy clearly doesn't know any Mythology

    • @Holmesson
      @Holmesson 2 года назад

      Stop, dummy. His name is Hafþór, and everyone calls him Thor for short. Him yelling that these are "Thor's hammers" is like him saying "I'm making this event my bitch!"

    • @Ladle_Lover
      @Ladle_Lover 2 года назад

      @@Holmesson Thor is from norse mythology so him saying that they aren't norse hammers makes no sense since Thor and his hammer are part of norse mythology. Next time before insulting someone's intelligence think about what you are trying to incorrect them about and think about how their comment is meant to be interpreted.
      Also I already knes what they meant by what they said, you just thought I didn't due to you misunderstanding my intelligence. Good day.

    I love that the competitors in this competition (at least from what I've seen so far) are always cheering the other on if they are about to achieve something they themselves at the moment can't, such great sports and people who love what they do.

    People often think “lunks” are vapid and shallow and judge anyone that comes to the gym to work out
    When in reality, many of us are just big cheerleaders to those who want to improve their workouts. To me, seeing this was just part of the awesome lifters that encouraged me on my lifting routine. I only look to continue that favor.

    Based on physics these hammers are brutal. They get progressively harder the higher up they go due to gravity but also leverage as you have to push on it closer and closer to the point of rotation, reducing the amount of force that can be applied
