This was my fav curve growing up. The Shanahan in Easton, p10 in Bauer, etc. great pattern.
Wish they were still a retail pattern you could find at your local stores, etc...but at least now you can find them pretty easily online & more companies doing a “custom” program

Ovi curve has been my favorite since the begging I been making his curb ever since I started playing hockey I use a 2 piece stick with a wood/fiberglass wrap blade and I hear it up and make it from Looking at picture of the blade pattern just recent started playing Indoor roller hockey and now I switch to the CCM rbz Crosby pattern is Almost the same but not as aggressive and I'm liking it so far I know is probably not the same one he uses but the pattern they make with his name is perfect so nice for back hands toe drags and everything and I get a nice rise of the puck when I shoot love it
This pattern used to be available to the public. It's was the Easton Shanahan back in my playing days. Very easy to stick handle fast with and toe drag, not surprised kane favors this curve.

I’m pretty sure true and ccm will make you custom sticks with whatever stick preferences you want ( essentially your own pro stock stick), but you have to order a minimum of 6 sticks so it tends to be a bit pricey.
Kane, along with Giroux and Justin Braun use the "P10" curve which is identical to the old Shannahan curve Easton used to offer to retail customers. A little over a year ago, I purchased a custom blade from BASE hockey with this curve as it is very difficult to find a pro stock model from these players. Would highly recommend purchasing one if you wish to try it out a little further!
Same with football/soccer players boots, new stuff comes out but they like playing in thier old boots so they just get the new graphic look on them.
its amazing that kane still gets off some good shots with a stick that stiff. i notice personally that i can rip the puck way harder with a whippier stick. but kane has said he uses a stiff stick because it lets him pass better, so i guess its a trade off

One more thing to mention: if you were to cut that stick down, you would find that the standard wooden knob extension would not fit in the shaft, because the walls of the pro sticks are thicker than the retail sticks, so the inside diameter is actually smaller (and the stick stronger).

So I’ve been using Ovechickin curve for months now and grown custom to it. I’ve recently bought the 1x lite but it is a Kane curve. On thing I noticed is I can’t get as good of a snap shot off. If I continue to persue to using the stick and curve will I grow a custom to it? Or should I sadly stick with my old stick
You can get used to anything, but it could be where the kick point is as well.
Coach Jeremy thanks for the feedback and sorry I forgot to mention the original stick I was using was the original 1X. So the low kickpoint seems to be my favorite compared to other sticks in the past. I am personally adjusting to the new stick now and believe I should cut the stick down even more to just about if not the same length as my old stick.

I have both a P92 and a P88. The P92 has a bigger and more open curve so you will shoot harder with it. I find the P88 better for stick handling. You’ll have to decide which you prefer.
the BC14 the Shanny pro. Kane and Giroux use it. I had it and it was awesome to stickhandle with

I play goalie and Patty Kanes curve is pretty similar to the Quick curve on goalie sticks ( i am currently using a warrior swagger lte pro)

I bought a stick from pro stock hockey. I got a datsyuk curve, 85 flex CCM ultra tacks. It's a great stick!
If you cut an inch or 2 off of a stick, by how much would that increase its stiffness? Is there a rule of thumb? e.g. for every inch you cut it increases the stiffness by a magnitude of 10?

Cool video Jeremy... one question - I noticed Morgan Rielly and Nazem Kadri both appear to be using a new CCM stick dressed as the "Jetspeed" line. I'm assuming it's the RBZ line just redressed. Any insight? Is CCM just trying to promote the line before it actually comes out?

Customization is for everyone with the cash necessary. The thing is that you have to buy multiple ones (most companies have 6 as minimum, some 3 or 4) while often maintaining the retail price.
Even with simple customization you usually get a way better stick as described in the video so that usually makes up for it. Basically every (Semi-)Pro whose team has a hockey manufactorer as sponsor has a customized stick, and the better ones use the Pro Stock Edition (some companies have both customized and Pro Stock). The material is more solid, meaning the stick has a better impact protection (shooting or getting slashes) and does not wear out as fast as retail ones.
I got one of a german DEL player (Reebok A.i9) and it's definitely way higher quality than the retail ones. It got hacked and slashed so often that the top layer went off and you can see a material looking like aluminium below without any scars or whatsoever.
Nontheless, for playing I'd not recommend buying a random one because as Jeremy said, their curves are *highly* unorthodox. F.e. mine is a heel-curve with a quite flat, open blade. It's great for passing (the A.i9 in general is) but I could not shoot precisely or protect the puck under pressure so I changed it back for this season.

I'm 6'4 close weight close to 300lbs off skates so 6'7 on skates so I use a stick that's about 6'3 and has a flex of 125( couldn't find one higher in any hockey store in Pittsburgh) Shea Weber curve ( its a heel curve) right handed stick. Also I found it stock at 6'3 my old stick I had to put a wood extension in the top. It comes to just below my nose. Brand is a ccm model is a super tacks. Color is black silver and yellow

Funny you mention the graphic trick!! I thought I bought a Vapor 1X but turned out to be an Easton Synergy CX dressed to look like a 1X for a pro player. The deal turned out to be too good to be true.. lesson learned

I may have missed it in here but if you haven't noticed on Patrick Kane's stick his name will "show up" very faintly on the backhand top of his blade. Angle it to the sunlight; mine shows his name on his Bauer pro stock. The backhand with that Kaner is great! Pro Stock Hockey ROCKS!!

How similar is Kane's actual curve to the Bauer P02 curve? Looks like Kane's curve may be a mid curve and the P02 a heel curve? They are both lie 7 with a similar looking profile. It would be much appreciated if you'd provide a comparison.

How did you get Ovi's stick? I've never seen it on the prostockhockey site, but I have seen Kane's on there a few times.
M Hackel it all depends on what they have in stock at that particular moment. I would imagine that Ovechkin’s sticks sell pretty quickly, so you would have to check the website pretty frequently to find one.
Hmm....Maybe now you can recreate the puck mine set up, that Kane did a few years back. ;-)

I played in DI and minor league hockey right as these sticks were coming out when they did I tuck to my graphite shaft and wooden blade because of this at that time Nebraska Omaha we would not get custom sticks we could get blades that were stock and we had many choices but that was the great thing about wood I could mess with my curves I liked the Lindros blade but I would heat her up and give it a little more toe curve and shave it down at the heel and toe it would sit flat on the ice and my puck handling and ability to make sauce and backhanded sauce passes were better,, if your a playmaker not too much heel curve as it will effect your stick handles and passing, heel curves are for the pure snipers , when I played in the minors I got custom blades for my shaft because at that time warrior was making there name and you used to have to use one of there stock curves and I hated everyone

Is the stick a dense and heavy true one piece? I recently bought a pro stock APX2 Dubinsky 95 curve, and his is a true one piece, and it is STIFF!!!

Stick manufacturers seem to be phasing out the clear finish, going for all grip finishes, which annoys me to no end. I might have to try and find a way to get custom made sticks... Different topic, Kane's actual curve doesn't seem too far off from the one his name is on in the stores, I would have liked to see them side by side to compare
