As someone who has done a Face to Face chat with Clint before and saw these, they are soooo skinkin' rad!!! As a curious person, I asked an ample number of questions about them (maybe two), and it seems like they always act like little puppies!! They seriously JUMP AT THE GLASS, HEADFIRST, for attention!!!
And also, it you can afford one, you really should do a Face to Face with Clint! It's over zoom, and helps support Clint's wonderful dream!

@@MastemaJack But, that is not how they generally act. Most of the time they hide, for most people. BUT, the way Clint's emerald tree skinks act is how they normally are, and a very shy emerald tree skink would instead be an outlier. I personally love the look of fire skinks a bit more, but the possibility of not being able to see them makes them not as skinkin rad as these emerald tree skinks.

Social species are some of the most intelligent--dolphins, crows, rats, elephants. They also tend to make the best pets because interaction is part of their normal behavior. Rats LOVE people, for example. I'm thinking that is why these little skinks like to interact, even with a human. Curiosity may also be a super adaptation for them, like it is with rats. Endless exploring is good for finding resources = selection for curiosity? I love evolutionary puzzles. Whatever the case, everyone who watched this now wants some :)

the gorrila glue flip the cage over thing is an absolute gamechanger, and to think I was considerring buying a new background for my backgroundless 36x18x18, this would make it so easy to give my rosy boa lots of places to hide. Cody James I have an ackie as well. I am not a fan of sterile enclosures. I can understand breeders keeping them on paper towel for the first month or so, although even then, I wouldn't. In my opinion ackies need a loose substrate and a lot of naturalistic decor/exploring areas because they really interact with their environment. This adds a lot of smells and textures for them to explore and dig. I use stones, wood, cork bark, fake plants and a diy rock background with ledges to climb on.
My enclosure is not bioactive. It is difficult to keep plants alive with the high temperatures in an ackie enclosure, they like it HOT. And with more arid setups, I don't feel like plants add as much as they do in humid setups. You could definitely try it if you want to though!
They are an awesome species, that has really earned its recent rise in popularity. You've made a really good choice!

They have a rest mode, a curious mode and a food mode. Every time you see them on rest mode is because they didn't see you yet, as soon as they see your finger getting away they'll run as quick as they can to jump onto it and explore your hand. The food mode only appears when they aren't on curious mode because they will literally watch and ignore food if they are exploring, even if they are not stressed at all, they simply won't take it. Definitely the most rewarding pet jumping spider I've ever had

I researched and researched but nothing came up. Either they didnt like handling (Anoles, day geckos) or were too delicate( chameleons) and the women in my life are scared of snakes. So I just opted for a Bearded dragon which is arid and I had to accommodate but at least it can be handled. Now I'm finding out these exist.

What do we know about the brain structure of these guys? They might be less resigned to fear and more dispositioned towards active thinking due to the structure of their brain. Could explain some of their straightforward behavior.

I unfortunately tried to breed these guys and had both wc imports crash and die within a month. They were awesome pets, but i just couldnt get them to thrive. Within the month they were friendly, i honestly have no idea what happened. I dewormed them, gave then the options of crickets, dubias, cg diet, they just decided to die.

Hi guys! Posting this here for some advice on my giant day gecko.
She lost her tail a while back and it had completely regrown, but about a week ago, she dropped it again out of nowhere. I don’t know if maybe I was handling her too much and stressed her out, but I woke up to check on her and it was gone.
A few days later, or last Tuesday, I checked in on her again and she began to slither around the cage erratically, letting her front arms go limp. I was really scared so I tried to take her out and place her on the floor. When she was there, she slowly regained use of her front arms, but her toes began to twitch.
I called all over but no one could help, so I removed all items on the lower level of her terrarium and set up food, water, and a container of calcium just in case the reaction had to do with MBD in any way.
She’s been doing fine up to now, but I’m still very worried. I haven’t been touching her, and I’m hoping the reaction was just stress related to losing her tail, but I honestly have no idea.
If anyone has any advice, PLEASE feel free to leave a reply. I’ve been very worried for her.

Hey Clint I would really like it if I could get one of your baby emerald tree skinks I was going to get a Knowles but when I saw the emerald tree skinks in the first video I fell in love with them too and I looked all over but I couldn't find anywhere and I'm willing to hold off the tank filled I said I'm going to be building a bioactive 18 x 18 x 24 enclosure and I'd be willing to maybe pay $50, I'm only 11 and I already have a red-footed tortoise and a couple other exotic animals and I would love it if you may be considered letting me by one of your amazing animals when they hatch or a little while after they hatch. Please consider it

Yeah, but Gus-Gus gets Stinkin' Rad points for being warm-blooded and able to walk on a leash, right? These are still awesome, though; they seem to be just as friendly as Gus-Gus, and they would be a better choice for people who don't have room for a big lizard (though Tegus are perfect; big, but not too big).

It amazes me with wild caught animals-especially after a documentary I saw about Madagascar… I don’t see how any of these people dealing in wild caught & imported herps expect to make ANY kind of a profit; not when all the animals are casually thrown into a bag or box, all piled on top of each other. Never gonna survive that. Some don’t last five minutes after capture! There has to be a better way if they’re gonna do it at all. I mean, just crammed together-and oh, BtW, caught by a local child, don’t forget (lol), or a group of hungry village children who were promised a shilling or two by the animal gangsters for their “troubles”. Their “troubles” often involve the lives of sensitive animals, like chameleons, as they knock them from the top branches of trees and NOT into a net. Just onto the ground. Then piled in a big, highly stressed as the kid SWINGS the bag around carelessly while they skip back to town. There, they proceed to literally DUMP the contents of the bag on a “sorting table”. Then the local ”animal pimps”, “dealers” or “traders” figure out what each kid is getting paid… I mean, again, they should tell the kids to be more careful and maybe they’ll make more money! With living animals and not dead ones! That is, if they’re going to continue doing it this way…
Sorry. Lol. At least on the video I saw, there were no adults doing the reptile capture, and I’m not saying they would be any more careful than these kids were… legit knocking reptiles and amphibians out of trees, falling to the ground, to be tightly grabbed (injured) and shoved all in a box or bag. Crawling on top of each other. And they want to make $$??Then, if they’re alive, they’ll be imported around the world; if they’re chameleons or something sensitive (like satanic leaf-tailed geckos or an amphibian) m, they may end up dying in transit, and it was all a big waste. It was a waste of time for Mother Nature to create these beautiful animals to be abused. And then it’s just a loss for Mother Nature. It was a waste of time for the guys to “employ” the children for next to nothing, and it was a waste of time for the children to roughly handle the animals, just to kill them from stress, so they can make some coins because of their poverty-stricken existence. Think about that… it all goes back somehow! So yes, it is commendable to think about breeding if you’re gonna buy wild caught! 💯 thank you Clint!
